Hey, hope your fine with posting videos here, myself and 3 of my friends have started an LP on the first map of the two swords trilogy, really enjoying the map so far, good job man! This is my perspective/playthrough:
Alrighty guys- here's the first dungeon for a full-size CTM map I'm working on, in the Monster Hunter style (no fleecy boxes- instead you have fleecy headed monsters XD). Vechs pioneered this CTM style with Black Desert 2. He did a bad job of it and I have decided to do it properly.
It's the White Wool dungeon, so it'll be the easiest area in the map (maybe besides brown, who knows haha). The map shall be predominately open-world, beyond the first area (which serves as a rather brutal introduction to the CTM map).
Please leave me feedback on the area- concerns, recommendations on anything to do with it. AND DO NO COPY ANYTHING FROM THE MAP. I MADE IT ALL MYSELF AND WOULD BE EXTREMELY ANGRY TO FIND THAT SOMEONE NICKED IT. Thank you
Here's the map download (it'll be live for a limited time only)- Download
Here's some screenshots of the White Wool area (3):
NOTE: I am looking for feedback. You can either post it as a reply to this comment or PM it to me. Thanks!
That looks amazing, I really cant wait for the full map.
What do you guys think i should add first:
1. More "stuff" to deathbloom mines
2. Additional minor dungeons
3. Add a storyline
4. Make the map more difficult
5. Add pixel art and focus on the aesthetics of the starting area and intersections.
Please comment a #.
DISCLAIMER FROM THE MODS - Vechs is currently on a break from mapmaking and does not currently check this thread, nor have plans to make or update maps at this time. It would be hugely appreciated to take any comments about requests for his maps to his Youtube channel, Vechz, as that would be the best way to actually be seen by him! Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Howdy y'all. I'm new in town. Well, not exactly new to the whole CTM genre, but a newcomer to this, what looks to be, fine community. I've done been working on a CTM map of my own, one that is now part of a CTM series that I intend to so fancily call "Terra Nova". I made a nifty banner for it, too.
Here's a picture of my early work.
And another one, if you wanna spoil things for yourself. ;-)
Welcome to the community :D, the screenshots look amazing, you already have me hyped for the map.
Since the white wool of the next map is harder than the black wool of the first, here is a tip: Don't make any more maps. Just link what would be your next map to your first map by a command block teleporter that only appears after you completed the first map.
Nope, I need to make it a new map, I'm making it harder in terms of the loot given.
Q: When it comes to mapmaking, how much time and effort do you put in? Do you use that time to carefully manage your ideas? And when is the right time to work on your projects?
1. Oh god, in AA, I spent about 3 hours per area, DW2 I spent about 5, now with the two swords series I spent an average of 20 hours on an area.
2. Lol nope, I just think of an idea, hollow out the cavern and shape it to my idea, I usually don't plan anything.

He said that the map was bad in the description, deal with him criticizing your map, you're really acting like a baby.

I'll review it if you like, but it probably wont be positive, it will give you a lot of good advice though.
