    I got a response from the modder of Plato's Transporters. He admits there are some bugs and he is already working on it. Perhaps disaster was too strong a word. I just ran into problems in my particular experience due to very specific circumstances. As to the flight characteristics though, the code was imported from another source that didn't have mechanics tuned for an airship. I suggested to him the idea with working with other modders to import code from Valkyrien Skies 1.12...a mod that has solved the flight characteristics for airships as well as block interaction. The source for it is open source and I have already reached out to the VS modders for confirmation. Anybody can take their code and fork it. As well, VS is working on launching a new updated version with more features next year. We'll see how it goes.

    I finished my steampunk airship. It turned out great....in my opinion. A lot of work went into it with the intention of getting it to fly with the new Plato's Transporters mod. Unfortunately, the mod is quite buggy and does not recreate the flight characteristics of a balloon like Davinci's and Archimedes before it. lol the maiden test flight was a disaster!


    I thought the ship was floating and not connected to anything else. Except I missed a piece of scaffolding still connected to the ship and the roof of my treehouse. During ship assembly using the mod controls, it assembled the ship as well as the top floor of my treehouse!!! As I went flying I tore the roof off of my treehouse! lol


    That part was my fault to be sure. But even so, the mod seems to have a maximum number of balloon blocks for a ship and somehow I tore the front half of the balloon from the rest of the ship.


    Did I backup prior to testing? Of course not!!!! The mod does not treat airships like balloons and my ship (minus the front of the balloon), and the top floor of my treehouse, went crashing to the ground below in a fireball of death and destruction! FAIL!!!

    Okay, the fireball didn't happen but it might as well did. Luckily, I was able to use WorldEdit to repair the blocks. It took a while.


    Somehow I was able to park the ship in the sky and it is fully intact. But I am no longer using the mod so it is stuck up in the sky.....for now. Hopefully the mod maker can re-work the code. I hope he does because until then no long journeys for me. But we'll see. In the meantime, here are some pics of my work. I'm proud of it.

    Pics include the interior of the main cabin as well as below decks.

    I put a glass floor in the bottom of the hull.....

    Has anybody tried Plato's Transporters? It's been coined the "spiritual successor" to Davinci's Vessels which itself was a follow up to Archimedes's Ships.

    Anyways, I tried it with the hopes that it would bring my steampunk airship to life. It was a disaster. I don't want to go into the length of it. What it boils down to is that the airship portion of the new mod does not recreate the flight characteristics of a balloon like the other mods before it.


    Until the mod maker examines the work and figures out what he wants to do I need to ask if a modder out there can attempt to recreate what the Davinci's mod did very well in making entities that fly like a balloon.


    Can someone respond with your thoughts even if you are not a modder?

    You're going to be walking until the end of time! Side thought, I wish they would add a hardcore mode where you are required to drink and rest including a sit down action. Okay I need to focus, yeah Kevin I'll pick you up in my airship....assuming I can get the thing to fly. I'll start looking for you soon....or at least your dead body so...you know...your family can bury you properly. Anyways good luckkkkk!!!! :P

    When I get it working enough so that I am confident driving it then I will start moving stuff in there. It's going to become my home away from home because I am planning on exploring my world. I want to build several map walls while discovering new lands and mysteries buried treasure and the like.

    The work on the airship continues. Most of the work is done. Currently trying to figure out the correct size and elevation for the balloon itself. I may have to resize and/or move it which may require me to start from scratch. When I am satisfied with the balloon I will connect it formally to the airship. The balloon blocks used are coming from the Plato's Transporters mod. I hear it's buggy so I'm going to backup the world before I test it. I don't want all my hard work exploding like the Hindenburg. I've died 4 times during the build because I keep falling off the edge.....why did it take me until now to remember that you have to stoop when you are near an edge so as not to fall off? Oh well.


    Let me know what you think? Is the balloon size okay? I don't know why I'm asking because I'm going to nitpick at the thing anyway. lol!

    That's an awesome ship build! A design like that would take me much longer because I suffer a bit from OCD. I would nitpick over every little thing which would make the design process take forever. How long did it take you by the way?

    Hello. How have you been?


    I haven't had time to revisit this because I have been too busy with other things as well as working on the hull of my airship. The main hull is basically done except for a few touch ups I have to make. Getting ready for the balloon part as well as monitoring the progress of the new Plato's Transporters mod. It seems buggy and a work in progress. In any case, I'm still building. I was wondering. Is it possible for you to increase the rate of the explosive entities to a much greater number of explosions per minute?

    See, this is why Mojang should have thought of a more robust transportation system by default in the game. Right now, people have to rely on transportation mods which are tricky to code and requires updating between versions. How the heck do the devs expect people to explore their world? Right now I'm on the roof of my treehouse building an airship because the nearest chunk with a swamp (containing slime) is thousands of blocks away. I'm going to have to fit the ship with rocket boosters assuming if I can get that Plato's Transporters mod working. It's a beta at best.

    Yes I could go creative and get elytra or whatever but that defeats the purpose of playing the game in survival.
