Since when did realism affect whether a game was good or not. I mean Minecraft is one of the least realistic games out there. No ones going to steal a fighter jet from a military base in real life, but you can in GTA 5. No ones going to actually attempt a 360 no scope in a real battlefield, but you can in Call Of Duty. Games aren't meant to be realistic, they're meant to be fun. If all games were as realistic as real life then why would we play them?
Also, have even visited /r/playark or the steam forums for ARK? Because I have, and it isn't a crap community at all, it's an incredible one. Do you even own the game?
The only bad things for me about ARK (and this is coming from someone who has actually played it), is the massive time sink that is taming and gathering resources. This can take hours and hours, but your entire existence on the game can be wiped in a matter of minutes.
