I also have a friend that might end up joining. He's an amazing builder, and if I'm accepted, I'll totally vouch for him. He could really help the server. He does really cool stuff.

Thanks for all your hard work!
I think I could help you do some small things with the map. Better redstone funtionality, better town checkpoints, working HMs, key items that open doors, better mechanics, like clearing all of the items out of the other chests after you pick a starter, etc. I can't do tons, but if you want some assistance or pointers, let me know over PM.

    APPLICATION
    Name: RJ (Short for Robert)
Minecraft Username (if that's what "Name" was supposed to mean): ninjapenugin120 (same as forum username)
IGN: Soon as I get one, it'll be ninjapenguin120
    Age: 15
    Skype: rj.jacobs120
Youtube (If you have one): ninjapenguin120 (pretty small channel, hope to put more up soon as I build a better Ubuntu machine)
Why you want to join: I've been on a few really big servers, and would prefer to be on a smaller one, where everyone is at least acquainted for the most part, and it's not totally clogged with trolls, and spam.
How long have you been playing Minecraft: Since about fall of 2011, Beta 1.7.3 (Wow, it's been that long?)
How much time will you spend on the server a week: Depends on school / workout schedule, but at least an hour, 4 times per week, and quite a bit more over the summer.
Have you ever been banned (please be honest): Newp! But I sometimes have to do the banning : /
How good of a builder would you say you are: I'm decent, but it takes me a lot more time than usual to do the really elaborate, natural-looking things that my friends do.
Redstone?: I'm actually pretty good at redstoning, especially when I have a lot of time to figure out how to refine my circuits. But let me loose with some command blocks, I can make some pretty cool minigames, adventure maps, vanilla warp menus, and other cool stuff!
Tell us something about yourself: I used to run servers, but I don't run them anymore, not enough people. I'm in the suburbs of Chicago, and I hate it here. Can't wait to get out of college and move to the North Side of the city. I don't mind console gamers, but will probably never defy my elegance to the Linux Gaming community. As soon as I'm out of class every day, I do some lifting, play guitar, and then SMP. Still saving up for a beast gaming machine, and as soon as I get it, I'll be on YouTube for real.
Magic word: Please? I'd really appreciate being on the server!

To be clear, this isn't to do things you couldn't do in some roundabout way before. But it would make making multiplayer adventure maps and server games A LOT easier to design and manage. I've come across so many times designing adventure maps, and server minigames, where I just think to myself, "wow, markers would make this so much easier."

posted a message on Server Error?
I downloaded a clean version of the Minecraft server jar to my Red Hat Linux Westhost server with wget. Then I try to start it with the basic "java minecraft_server.1.7.9.jar" command, to try to keep things as simple as possible. Then I get this error message.
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: minecraft_server.1.7.9.jar
    at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)
    at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
    at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(Unknown Source)

My question is, what is causing this? And why did it work just fine in Windows? It can't be the launguage, since it's just a Java file. I'm not that stupid. And I have Java runtime installed on the server. What's going on? From the looks of it, there's some kind of Java class file missing, but I'm not sure. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance! :D

Skylinerw, I know how to use scoreboard. Very well, actually. I'm not saying that using this instead of scoreboard would be beneficial. I'm not saying that this should be used as opposed to scoreboard. Without scoreboard, this would be (not totally, but mostly) pointless. I'm saying it should be used in conjunction with scoreboard.
Hockey is a game where everyone is all over the place. Even with 1 on 1, you need to keep score. Use a pressure pad the pig will land on. Set up a command block to give out dummy points. Someone scores on your goal. The command block on your side is activated. Great. But how is the command block going to know who's side that is? Because the game designer put the usernames in the command blocks? That works fine if it's a two person Lan world, or a private server where everyone has their own court, but on a public server? No. The only way that would work is if each player got their own team. But people would forget if they here hockey player 1 or 2. And actual usernames would not be used on the scoreboard. If you used @p? No. You would just have to hope that whoever made the goal was the closest one to the command block when it was made. However, if the first player were given the tag (or marker, as sc1020 put it) #hockey1 at the lobby, and the other #hockey2, actual usernames could be used on the scoreboard, and people wouldn't need to worry about which number they were assigned. And it would be reusable for other players.
Same with a free for all fighter type of game. Each player would have the same spawn point each time, and have their own independent spawn, away from everyone else.
Spleef. King of the Ladder. Mushrooms and Trolls. Craft Bros. Especially games with respawn, award ceremonies, or individual roles. And more. It would add so much to the scoreboard system.

Well, no. These are marker tags so the server can recognize certain roles and whatnot. However, I would like a command that modifies player datatags. However, I still support this suggestion.

Right, that's what I was getting at, that's a great way to sum it up.

There needs to be a command to tag a player with a specific words or names. (I think these tags should start with a hashtag to designate a player tag.) It would allow multiplayer minigames be more advanced, and reusable, let players compete against eachother much more easily, and it would be easy to include.
    • This would hugely expand the ability to create multiplayer minigames and adventure maps. For example, this could be used to create vanilla Super-Craft-Bros-esque game. Players could each choose their player numbers at the beginning of the game. They would be assigned tags, and their scores could be kept track of, and they could spawn at the same place each round, even in multi-round games.
    • You could easily do paste-and-play multiplayer adventure maps, that would allow people to set up seperate player roles, all without reconfiguring command blocks with usernames.
    • How? You could just have one command block that uses @p to assign a player a tag, that all of the other command blocks would use.
    • Other players would not be able to see these tags, as they would be used internally for the server
Edit: Another example: I'm making a game that ended up being pretty much like hockey, but with a pig. Command blocks would recognize me as #player1, and my friend as #player2, because we got assigned those markers by other command blocks earlier on. After the game, other command blocks remove those markers. So when the game command blocks are keeping score, we don't need to program in our own usernames, and reset it for the next player.

So, overall, I just think that this would be a great, useful, easy to code feature that would make adventures and minigames much more fun

Great mod! But I'd like to see a way to set a block to teleport the player to a specific location, and also put all of that players Pokemon back into their Pokeballs.

DAVIDPLAYSLIFE, Forge installer works just fine on Windows 8.1, and, after playing around with it myself, I've found out that Forge works just fine with this mod. Though Forge is not required, it is compatible.
(LoRaM100 may remember my struggles with the new instalation method, I was just stuck in the past, but he thought I was a snobby pre-teen :P)
The Forge installer works on top of the Java platform, the same Platform as Minecraft. So if you can't use the Forge installer, you probably don't even need to worry about Minecraft either. But I know for sure that Java works on 8.1, as well as almost everything else. (Including Linux, which I use)
Either way, go to files.minecraftforge.net for the installer. I don't know what could possibly prevent it from functioning, given that you've not shown logs. Quote this, post error logs or messages, and possibly one of us can help.

You may want to take a look at LoRaM100's posts. He helped me with the new method, and I'm reletivley experienced. He knows what he's doing (even if he is slightly abbrasive at times :D) Thanks, BTW!

Players that can read and interpret what they read will find a version (in this very thread) capable of being added to the mods folder and working flawlessly with Forge. They will however (I think) need to place the WE.jar in the correct place. I play multiple versions and despise the way all Mods must be added to a common mods folder when using Forge. There should be a separate folder for each version. That's why I use Magic for Forge.
Real MCers do whatever it takes to make it work for them!
    Lou

I'll try using Magic. I'll probably tinker around with my build to see where I screwed up before I start using training wheels, as I prefer to mod clean. I never had problems in previous versions doing it without using any tools, but with the new instal instructions, I came across several problems. And I had no idea there was a forge version. I searched this thread, and a few other sites, unable to find it. I'll take those tips into consideration!
Although I didn't appreciate the whole "real Minecrafters" thing, seeing that I've been playing on mods since alpha, and made a couple non-distribution ones myself.
Either way though, thanks for the help, sorry for the trouble, and see you all later!

I'm rather intolerant of people that don't research their question... Find and peruse one of my installation instructions!

To clarify, I asked if there was a Forge version in the works. I searched this thread for that question, but I'm not going to search somewhere else, as in, the entire site for threads the devs don't even know about, using a disuseful search system. I want to stay in the thread where this is relevant. That's what I meant. I phrased it badly though... sorry for our misunderstanding...
Anyway, I was not able to find anyone who has done this; that is, make a version that is more integrated with Forge, and droppable in the coremods folder, or something like that. If the mod itself is enough, don't sweat it, although I doubt you did anyway. But it would be a great feature to have a mod more than just barley compatible. Most people appreciate being able to do this kind of stuff, and not have to deal with screwing up jar files or using the wrong order, or stuff like that.

This has most likely been asked somewhere else, but I'm rather intolerant of the search boxes on this site. Damned things.
Anyway, have you considered a Forge version of the mod? It used to be fine, but right now, it's a pretty screwed up, roundabout, and all-around difficult way to make them work together, but if you developed, or even outsourced to some other modder, a Forge version, it'd make many people's lives so much easier.

Why isn't there an "oceans" setting? The main reason I got this mod was to create worlds full of oceans and survival islands! Does it just create problems, or are you going to put it back in someday? Oceans in the settings is really something I'd like to see.
