So with the update being available today, I figured I should get my server switched over since otherwise nobody was able to get onto it anyway. I went to back up my world and encountered an error when I tried to back up the world file, which was fixed when I changed the level name(I guess it didn't want to do the backup initially because we had spaces in the name?).
So I managed to successfully back up our world, got everything all switched over to 1.4, then tried to restore from the backup I made. I didn't get any error messages, it just said the restoration was successful, but for some reason it hasn't actually restored our old world! It only generates the new one, as if I had just started the server or reset it. Does anybody have any idea what may have caused this to happen? I really, really don't want to have to start over once again because of updating issues.
**It occurred to me that it might be relevant to mention that our server is hosted by clanforge/multiplay.**
Is the very bottom of your dirt staircase touching/next to grass? As long as it is, the grass should eventually start spreading up your stairs. That's how it's worked for me in the past, at least. So it should look something like this:
Entering day 5(I think?) and I have my whole island surrounded by a cactus wall. I have a little bit of coal I found on my second or third day, and I have two saplings I'm waiting on to grow that I got from the tree I grew from the single sapling I got from the starter tree. I'm being verrry conservative about my use of wood for now, until I get a nice number of saplings that I can rely on!
So has anyone else with their render distance set to far seen the really spectacular looking land mass that *is* just barely visible from our island? Because it looks flat out amazing. I feel like once I've exhausted the challenge of living here for however long, I may have to venture out specifically to explore it further. I mean... I saw a lavafall and a waterfall right next to each other, a couple baby waterfalls, and... It just looks so beautiful!
But for now, I cower at the top of my sand pillar waiting for day to break so I can continue my search for coal...
I think it really just depends on my mood. Some days I'll sit there and regen over and over again, exploring around al ittle just to see what kind of things will come up, rather than actually building anything. And then there's days like today, where I look at the place I spawned and think things like, "Hmmm... I think I'll finally get around to trying to build a base underwater!"
Leave it to me to stick with the map where I had to travel a little bit in order to find any coal!
There's a section of the forum specifically dedicated to SMP servers, where there's a ton of threads dedicated to all the different ones. So not really an official list per se, but still a good place to start looking!
I don't know about the username, but probably not would be my guess.
As things are right now, multiplayer seems to me to mostly be about building and whatnot, since last I checked there weren't actually any monsters. I believe this is going to be fixed, though. All of the other aspects seem more or less the same, though. Hope I was at least *some* help!
Yeah, I just did this the other day. Played with some textures, then decided I liked the original better... Deleted the bin folder and minecraft dealt with the rest for me! Saves still in tact and all. :smile.gif:
I'm fine with either, though I imagine wearing it would probably be easier. You can do it either way, just if he's wearing it I'd still like to be able to see the white shirt. Do whatever you think works best!
I like his jacket, but I can imagine it might prove problematic... So if it's too big of a problem you can get rid of it I suppose. Can't complain much since it's not like I can do this! @_@
I definitely sat here and watched all of the cave exploration videos, which should say something since it's 2:11 AM where I am! Really great stuff, you're plenty entertaining. :] I myself am too much of a chicken to actually go explore the caves my game gives me... A shame, really, since I'm sure there's plenty of useful things to be found down there! Something about ti just freaks me out though. I'm kinda hoping that watching more will help me get over it!
That cave you're in in video 3-5 is HUGE! Can't wait to see you continue looking around whenever you get around to it.
I just found a cactus in my snow world yesterday... Which was all fine and awesome, but I had actually been hoping to find papyrus! I want to make some bookshelves for one of my rooms... But without the magical snow-spawning papyrus, I'll never be able to! :sad.gif:

And that should work, I think.

I know that it happens, but as far as I can tell, it's WAY harder to find... Which sucks. Because I want bookshelves!

I like his whole outfit, like in this piece of fan art:

But I preffer him with black hair instead of blonde... Like in this shot:
