Recently when I tried to play Minecraft the launcher did not start, it just went to the white console screen, and the last thing it said before closing was "Starting launcher." I haven't been able to even launch the launcher, let alone the game, so any ideas as to what might be wrong?
P.S. I'm using Java 7 update 51 64-bit and I have already tried removing Minecraft and reinstalling Java to no avail.
EDIT: Now when I try it says Java TM Platform SE Binary has stopped working. It has just started doing this today after I got the event logger working again, before then, it would just close with no errors, stacktraces, nothing.
just wondering, why can't i craft a gear box? ive tried every color plank, i looked at the BTW wiki for the recipe, and i was making it the exact way it says to, but I get no gear box? is this a known bug or am i just doing something completely stupid?
Don't mean to burst your bubble, but Ali4z and Eurymachus have had a mod that does this for a LONG time now. If that wasn't the case, then it would be a great idea, especially for those who aren't all too proficient with redstone circuitry, but it is the case, sorry.
I have added Flan's Mod among a few others to the FTB Yogcraft modpack, it works perfectly fine on SSP or a LAN world but when I try and make a server with the new mods, I get this error:

Ugh I HATED 1.3. Any company with its head on straight would have known enough to keep singleplayer and multiplayer separate. By merging it, they caused latency in single player, and the 1.5 update is lagging a lot more than 1.4.7 on my comp.

in 1.5.1 49-60 FPS, major stuttering whenever I move.
My PC specs would make you say, that should be running just fine, but it's all poor programming.

you must have an axe in the crafting grid along with the logs.

Like I said, poor programming (yes I know it's a laptop, but it ran perfectly fine before 1.5).
