Pen Size might improve it, but it isn't a be all solution.. About the only thing that matters is how often you are near your pen, spend too long away and they'll eventually despawn (for some people, some are luckier than others).
I have chicken coops, that are only 3x3, one held 5 chickens, the other had about 8. They were empty after I had spent a long time in the nether building a blaze grinder. So now I'm in the process of repopulating them, and reminding myself to peek in on them every so often.
Does Unbreaking only apply when used on the proper block?
I was clearing an area with a Diamond Pick Axe (Efficiency III, Unbreaking III), I'm just wondering if all the Dirt/Gravel I was taking out with it increased its wear.
Not to interrupt the music disussion... But really great video, I was mainly watching it with my daughter so she could learn more but I ended up understanding a few things better myself.
Is it 20 blocks in a single direction, or 20 blocks of area?
I've had sheep disappear from pens that were maybe 5x12. But I guess I've had chickens disappear from my coop and it's only 4x4 (unless the collection hole for eggs throws this off), I usually forget about this one because an exit without saving got them back (and didn't cost me much work).
Was bored during one weekend, while the kids were at their grandma's, and my wife was out with friends. Decided to give the demo a try, pretty much knew I was in trouble at that point. Wife wasn't interested, but when the kids got back I showed it to them. At first they weren't sure what to think of it, but once I put them in creative mode they've been hooked ever since. So now I have to ration them, but it gives an incentive for them to do homework. After about a week my wife decided to give in and give it a try, and now its one of our main things to do after the kids go to bed.
Fast forward a few months, and my brother comes to vist. Doesn't want anything to do with it, not his type of game etc.. etc... While our wives are out I get him to hop on for a few minutes... So now we online multi once a week or so, us and our wives.
I don't think there is anyone who doesn't like Minecraft.. Just those that haven't played yet.
You don't have to transfer the license to his console, if the game was bought by your live account. When you buy a game from xbox, it is licensed to both the user account and the console. So anyone can play it on that console, and that user can play the game anywhere.
Still if you're worried about account hacking etc.. by your friend. You're probably better off just taking your console over.
The thought of this was enough to finally pull me out of lurker status...
Weeping Angels - Only move (incredibly fast) when you're not looking at them, don't deal damage when they attack instead they teleport you to some random part of the map.
Only able to effectively fight them with a Pick Axe.

I haven't yet felt the monsters are too easy to make the change up to hard... I'm sure it will come eventually.

Yeah, I figured that might have been wishful thinking. I'm sure that will be in a change log, and not left as a secret when it happens.
