Hey, here's a site I made to provide a constant URL to the latest release/snapshot of the Minecraft server jar. I intended it for use in scripts or server managers, such as MSM. Hope you like it!

So I am assuming that means it is build into the original game?
Yes, 'vanilla' means completely un-modded original official Minecraft. If it's 'vanilla', it's built in.
As far as Bukkit goes, they're latest build is only officially compatible with 1.1, and they said they're cleaning up they're code before they release Bukkit for 1.2, so it will probably be a few days before Bukkit is updated.
Feb 23, 2012I made a version closer to what you suggested, with the - and = keys etc.Posted in: Requests / Ideas For Mods

This mod allows you to use the (settable) Minus and Equals keys to cycle through texture packs while playing Minecraft in either SSP or SMP.
- Minecraft 1.1
- Start playing Minecraft
- Press '-' or '=' to cycle backward or forward through texture packs at will
- ModLoader Compatible
- Works with manual texture pack changes as well, doesn't get tripped up
- No lag, changes happen almost instantly. (I suppose this depends on how fast your machine can re-render the screen though...)
- First mod!! First release to test basic functionality and gauge interest
- Can cycle back and forth between textures
- Can still manually set texture pack without screwing up this mod

Seems cool, but might make it lag.
It doesn't! Since texture packs are client side, it just depends on how fast your computer can switch them. It shouldn't be a very intensive task, but I have a powerful machine so can't be sure.
If you want a video, I just made this:
The framerate is **** b/c I didn't have time to look for a better screencast tool, but the concept is demonstrated well.
I'm on a multiplayer server and there is no lag in switching textures.
Feb 22, 2012Hi, I had a similar idea! I've never made a mod before but I did manage to make a mod that, when you press 'x', it will cycle your texture packs.Posted in: Requests / Ideas For Mods
You can try it here if you want: Download
BTW this is almost definitely not compatible with mod loader or other mods, i don't know how to do that. first mod.

Turn off your firewall and/or antivirus program. some AV's are known to cause lag in multiplayer games.
I should also note that Minecraft previously worked fine on this computer with the same A/V & Firewall (I did try it anyway though)

Check your router and firewall. The firewall could be partialy preventing Minecraft from accessing multiplayer. This can happen with any security software too. Anyway, good luck on finding that pefect solution! :laugh.gif:
I'm playing on the same network and internet connection as at least one other person on the same server, problems are only for me.
Internet connection has been as good as 50 Mb/s.
Oct 27, 2011When I play on my usual server, I now get horrendous server lag.Posted in: Legacy Support
It looks like im falling through a black world with snow for like 30 seconds, then eventually when it loads I can move around, but sometimes the server moves me back. Pistons lag by over 2 mintues, same with mining torches, etc.
Oddly, doors do not lag at all. Not sure why they're different...
This does not happen for anyone else on the server, only me. I've tried other computers, even the computers of other people on the same server who have no lag.
This has happened to one other player on the server. For a while, he just had terrible lag, and caused lag for other people when he was on. I seem to have caught his disease, so to speak.
Sep 12, 2011So I remembered someone saying to update the NVIDIA card drivers, which I did.Posted in: Legacy Support
I just tried updating the integrated card drivers as well, and after rebooting I am getting a playable 20 FPS with everything turned on high again.
Still not sure why I can't get like 100 FPS, but at least 20 FPS is playable.

Man I have no idea, my computer is like 6 years old but I still get better fps :/ This may sound stupid but maybe you have a virus?
Well, that's always a fair question. So, I ran Microsoft Security Essentials on a Full Scan and there were no viruses/malware detected.

Graphics - Fast
Performance - Max FPS
Smooth lighting - off
Render distance - Tiny
No other programs running
No. I turned every single thing to Fast, Max FPS, w/e.
With OptiFine you have control over everything so I even turned Clouds/Sky/Weather OFF,smooth lighting to 0%, Advanced OpenGL to OFF, etc, etc.
So, with no other programs running and every single graphic on the lowest of lows, I get 120 FPS.
However, as soon as I press F3 to get the overlay to come up, the FPS drops to about 75 FPS. Weird...
Glad I at least can achieve a playable FPS, but I'd like to get some graphics too if you have any more ideas.
