Here's another (potentially silly) question: how does one load cargo into the normal freight wagon? I want to ship sand from a desert area back to my city along a rail line. Does it work like an inventory that I could access somehow? Or is that feature not implemented yet? I think it would be pretty cool if we could load freight wagons like a chest (well, a really, really, really big chest, lol). Seeing cargo trains hauling sand, clay, ore, food, and people all over the continent would be pretty epic if I ever get this new server up :D

It appears as though you're installing Forge to a copy of a vanilla instance you don't have set up yet. To run 1.6.4, 1.7.2 or whatever, you have to create an instance and play it once (just getting to the MC title screen is enough, you can quit the game after that). THEN you can install Forge to that, and it should make a copy that will say something like "1.7.2-Forge-xxxxxxx.jar" and you can install mods in that instance. Bear in mind that the current LotR uses 1.7.10.

Here is where I usually suggest you try out the MultiMC launcher, which makes these things easier-- you create an instance, select MC version , click on Install Forge and it gives you the list of Forge versions for that MC version. Then you can drag and drop mods into the mod tab.

How ever he is using windows 10 and I don't remember MulitMC working with it. Also what he said is true you do have to run a Minecraft version like 1.6.4 before you can then install a forge version for it. Oh and did you ever get 1.7.10 to work?

Can you walk me through exactly what I am supposed to do?

Well I'll try, since your using the Windows 10 version right? Ok there should be a tab (on the left on the Java version) called "edit profile", then toward the bottom there is tab that says "use version" and jade a drop down list. When click on that you should scroll to the bottom and see something like release 1.7.10-Forge 10.13.2.1291. When click that you should see it appear in the "use version", then there should be something that says "save profile" and then you should see it change and hit "play". Once the game goes through the the loading screen your should see the Minecraft screen and to the left you should see: Minecraft 1.7.10, a MCP version number, a FML version or Forge version and then three mods loaded, 3 mods active. Once you see that and have clicked mods tab on the launch screen. You can exit the game go to your.minecraft put the Lord of The rings jar into the mods folder and be good to go.

Oh that is because you have to run the game, which I assume you haven't yet, before that stuff shows up.

I've downloaded it and installed it multiple (more like 30) times over the past couple of days. It just won't open up to the screen when I click on the file. This is all when I try to download the regular installer. When I download the win-installer, I can pull up the Forge window, but when I choose "Install Client", nothing happens. Of course, when I do this with 1.8+ Forge, everything works fine, for whatever reason. I simply can't get 1.7.10 or lower.

Really? So you downloaded the "installer" ran it, clicked "install clint", and then nothing? Out of curiosity what is the number following 1.7.10-????. I would also like to suggest that you try Froge version 1.7.10-10.13.2.1291 from here: (this is the normal installer for win 7

    http://adfoc.us/serve/?id=27122855765810

and here is the win one

    http://adfoc.us/serve/?id=27122855765767

) If there is still a problem I'll do some more investigation.

The issue is that I can't open the 1.7.10 Forge file once downloaded. While the correct (I believe) way to install Forge into the .minecraft folder is to open the Install Client, Install Server etc... menu, I can't do then when downloading 1.7.10 or lower. I get a message: How do you want to download this file? Internet Explorer, Search for an app on this PC.

Wow that really odd, so after you install it says it?

Is there a possibility of this mod being updated to support 1.8+ users? It looks amazing (being a huge LoTR fan) but I cannot seem to download Forge earlier than 1.8. Thanks

    Will this help? http://files.minecraftforge.net/maven/net/minecraftforge/forge/index_1.7.10.html

Thanks for reply, I thought these numbers are radius in meters, not 10th of meters, it looks gorgeous, however have no idea, how to join next section of curved track (except of many blind probes). There should be some kind of survey line appearing, then you have piece of track and looking at certain tile.

How to connect stock together? There is crowbar similar to Railcraft one, but it shows only 'cleared north'.

Still doesn't have idea, how to remove stock from track/ground. There is no collision detection and train run trough end of track limiter and stucked at the ground.

I hope that these cars will be useable for transporting goods/livestock/players.

Minecarts should hide deeply in underground mines if compared to this mod.

EDIT: I found instructions hidden under spoiler at the first page.

You should also check out Don's brancg as he has fixed quit a few problems. http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/wip-mods/2610314-rails-of-war-1-7-10-dons-branch

Just cleared a bunch of mod things off my to-do list, one of which is adding in the remaining crafting recipes.

Thanks to kandivia you now have a full set of recipes for locomotives and stock. I tweaked a few things, so look at the crafting guide on the OP to see what you need to do.

NickWtn3: there's nothing in either of those logs indicating ROW is causing any problems. I see a bunch of errors from the LOTR mod, though.

To anyone who is having crashes: please post crash reports not forge logs. Crash reports can be found in the .minecraft/crash-reports folder. If you're on Windows, this is usually located at C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\crash-reports. Mac users: you're on your own to find that. Linux users: you should know how to find a file.

Thank you I will post it to there fourm.

I suppose so, except you uploaded the wrong log - there's no crash report at all in there (it should be at the bottom).

Wow well I pulled that out of the crashes folder and it said latest. I check that out and see what happened.

    That's not a crash log...

So does anybody have a good and stable experience with this fork of RoW on SMP dedicated servers?

Well I was told a long time ago that a Forge log, or FML log in this case, can be more helpful then the standard Mincraft crash log, as it shows just about everything that happens during the start up process.
