I have been running a server since 1.5 and it runs smoother and faster than ever :biggrin.gif: Anyway, do what the other people are saying. Maybe you got a corrupted download of the server.exe or something.

posted a message on Minecraft Texture Pack Tips?
    Quote from xchainblade »
You need to make the textures flow. If you do a 'simple' texture on some blocks, you need to stick with that theme or the rest of the pack will look like ass. If you do a realistic, you need to make everything look realistic. There's nothing worse than having a windwaker-esque texture pack with misa's realistic looking blocks.
Another tip is to add noise to everything (not if you're doing a simple, clean pack, but there are over 1000 of those already..), and make it tile well. While it might look bad ass up close, and by itsself, that dirt block you just made might look atrocious with 100 more next to it. Making a good pack requires alot of testing, trial and error.

Thank you for the tips. I hope to work on my texture pack and hope to make it one of the best (though there is a lot of competition) Anyway, thanks.

posted a message on What buildings make a Kingdom?
Every kingdom needs a baker, fishing hut, hunting hut, there are many things really. You could add a well, gallows, a prison, you could also add a lot of farms. You could also do a google search on midevel stuff.

I agree. However, it helps to grow a giant tree while waiting.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was released on friday to make people think it is an april fools joke, when it is actually the update

:Coal: If that happens, I wouldn't be suprised if they included some kind of april fools joke in the patch. :smile.gif:

If that does happen I will have to wonder what it is...

Sounds like an awesome update. I think I will have only one wolf though...So I don't get it confused.

posted a message on Is minecraft destroying our youth?
    Quote from cboggus »
I think this game is addictive and hurting our youth. Discuss.

I somewhat agree with you. However, I don't think it is alone Minecraft that is harming the youth. All video games in general harm the youth. I do agree that playing to much Minecraft (or other games) affects the youth but out of all the games Minecraft is probably one of the more "creative" games that takes some thought to play. So, all in all, I wouldn't blame just Minecraft alone for what has happened to the youth. All the games of today are the cause for this. I still think that Minecraft is one of the better, and more creative games however.

    You can try some steps...

First off download the texture pack "Simplecraft".

    viewtopic.php?f=25&t=104854

This may speed you up. Run on low render/fog settings always and turn off any enhanced lighting. And run minecraft in a smaller window. Normally the size that it starts up in is fine, you won't be able to run fullscreen on that computer

Wow, thanks. I can run at 60 FPS outside and 100 FPS inside. Thanks.

No, I don't think I need a new computer...This one is new. Anyway, MC is playable for me in some respects. Do you think Notch will update it (when it is finished) to run faster?
