I do indeed understand that there have been a lot of mods like this. But for my first mod I decided to do something easy.
Anyway, I plan on updating this mod, and the textures. I plan on adding armor, and many other things that will enhance your Minecraft experience.
*HELP WANTED* I am gonna make this into a bigger mod, including armor, and more weapons. However I could use another coder, who has possibly more experience than I do! PM if interested.

UPDATE: Working towards modloader compatability. Also, in the last update I forgot to add the en_US.lang to the download. Now, when installed properly, the "Unnamed" should no longer pop up. Also, I plan on adding a server download.
About everyone asking where to learn how to mod... Just go to mapping and modding and tutorials.
There are soooo many tutorials and threads for even a budding modder that can barely unzip a zip file.
And as toward this mod, there is a very simple tutorial that shows how to add items using modloader, i suggest highly you use it, without it this mod will conflict with pretty much every other mod.

And for those that want to learn how to make mods and code, I followed Birjo's tutorials in the Tutorial section of the forums. I give credit to him at the bottom of the post.
All I have done is add an Obsidian Tool set and am working on adding GreatSwords and new armor...I have ran into coding issues though. I personally would enjoy modding this with other more experience modders in hopes of becoming better. I basically know the very basics of modding thanks to Birjo's tutorials. Here is what I have done and released.
For be you first mod is pretty nice, but if you make working tools, how about make a complete obsidiam theme? well is hard today find a original things to do cause exist plenty of useful mods already released.
But you can check all and see what is not implemented or improves something that are not covered yet.

Yep, you need to make its own .png picture of it in the armor folder.
Easiest way would be to open up both the default diamond armor picture and recolor it to look like obsidian then save it as like obsidian_1.png and obsidian_2.png respectively
Also, I know it may seem hard but you literally have to make your mod use modloader, theres a lot of tutorials for this.
Because if you dont use modloader, not a single other mod that implements a new tool/armor would work with this one.

If your wondering why almost no one is responding, its because there are 100'S OF MODS that are pretty much the EXACT same obsidian tools.
I know its your first mod and everything but you can still have creativity and do something not done hundreds of times.
Anyway, im not complaining, having more budding modders in the community is not a bad thing.
I know that, but I am actually planning on doing more with this mod than what is at present.
BTW I was trying to add armor and the code works, but when I make it a put it on it looks like Gold armor? Do I need to make another model for the Obsidian Armor?
