    That is what people assume. However, that is not the case. If someone port-forwards their network to point the port the LAN uses for MC to the computer hosting it, then anyone outside the network can play it. The point was to allow family and your network to play on a world with you without having to create a server. But network-wise, it functions the same.
    Awesomesauce. This will make quick vanilla gaming with friends much easier. Thanks!

    Programming wise, there is not really much.

    IIRC, Minecraft uses the general port when you open it using the LAN option, so it *should* just use port 25565 for the LAN server.

    The only difference is the times/modifications you can do to it from there. LAN servers are only up while that client keeps it up, and it cannot support most client mods or server mods.
    So for the purposes of a vanilla server that I only want to play with, say, a few other people when we're all online, there's no difference? Thanks.

    LAN is only for connections on your network. You cannot allow people in using external connections. To allow external connections, you need to run a server.

    If anyone connecting is doing so via LAN however, then there is no need for a server.
    Except that's wrong, and I would appreciate if you actually read my post before replying and not spout false information.

    I'm able to Open my local client to LAN and then simply forward the listed port and allow people in.

    From a programming or connecting point of view, what's the difference? It seems much easier for me to just use the client as the server too.

    This is likely a server problem, but I'd like to find out for sure;
    Running a speedtest via the following always returns 3.64M/s (mbps);
    wget -o /dev/null http://speedtest.wdc01.softlayer.com/downloads/test500.zip

    Changing the file doesn't help. I'll assume it's a network card problem? Or is that the cap in CRUX?

    In addition, is this still seeing updates? It's been a while and there could be a few things added.

    I'm running a RAMDISK config and for some reason save-all doesn't seem to do anything, It can't find filetool.sh where it's supposed to be (I cd'd and ran ls to make sure, checked in a few places). Any chance someone could upload it for me? There really should be filetool integration in the actual admin webpage.

    Thanks in advance.

    Oh thats what is does... So when i got Smite II, and Bane of Anthropods II that gave like 10 Damage or something?

    Is there some kind of video or thorough explanation of the enchantments? The wiki page is pretty vague in how enchants work.

    Too easy? Play on hardcore.

    Still too easy. You shouldn't be dying in this game.

    If it's too easy you may want to consider giving the mob mods a try.

    There are a couple out there that make mobs significantly more difficult to deal with and could very well cater to your desire for a harder game.

    Once I finish the game on Hardcore mode I'll probably be giving that a try, thanks for the suggestion.

    I'm not creating this thread to brag, but I'd just like to note that I was rather disappointed with Hardcore mode myself. Running through the game the first time start to finish via Hardcore mode (have not played since 1.4), I've yet to die, and after creating Iron Armor and a Diamond Sword I've never come anywhere remotely close to dying. I've gathered the blaze rods I need from the nether and have excess amount of iron while only having ever found 5 Diamond so far. All I'm waiting on now are the Endermen to give me my pearls. I suppose the stronghold and Enderdragon should prove a challenge, but short of tons of Arrows is anything else really necessary to finish the game? I feel like it's way too easy.

    No mob traps, no XP-farming. Just the basic progression. Should it be harder?

    You don't have to have seen a movie to think it's visuals suck.

    But you should at least understand the concept of the franchise before judging.

    I don't think it matters what the "concept" is, he was referring to how it looks, not how it fits.
