posted a message on Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders [compatible with Minecraft 1.12.2 via OptiFine]
Followed instructions to a tee, lots of graphical issues:

When holding a torch in the off hand:

    - No apparent issues here aside from the water reflection/distortion doing funky things to the edges.
    - When main-hand item is enchanted, crazy graphic glitches occur. With a torch in main-hand and any item in the off-hand, both have weird translucency.

    Sun is weird:

    - Weird circle gradient in the middle?
    - Circular sun over-top the diamond angled.

    Weird shadow on Flame arrow:

Rain transition is weird; time of day transitions are not smooth:
    - Rain only appears on the backdrop during the transition. After, rain only appears against blocks and does not show over top the backdrop or water (aside from water splashes).

I installed Optifine and did this: "6. In Options > Video Settings > Shaders, make sure that "Old Lighting" [/b]is On or Default for v11.0, and Off for older versions of SEUS." [/b]I tried the various presets for quality in the shader config with no noticeable changes in regards to the glitches.

I love this shader a great deal more than any other, but there are just so many more bugs than Kuda, which is my backup. SEUS looks 10x than Kuda's in almost every way but these glitches are driving me crazy.

posted a message on How to keep my Nether world after world conversion?
Not sure if this is the best section for this but...

I haven't played since 1.1, and now 1.3.1 is out and would like me to convert old worlds into the new format, cool. Old worlds had a directory for the main world, and one of the nether. How can I convert and combine the two so that my nether exists in the converted world? I thought the DIM-1 folder was the folder for nether chunks in 1.3 and have noticed the .mca file extension for chunks whereas my older world backups had .mcr extensions.

I'd like some help making sense of this and hopefully fully restoring my world, and nether, to it's former glory. My nether is essential to world travelling.

Thanks to anyone that can provide me with information or linkage to resolve my issue.

posted a message on Out of memory? only since 1.66.. wdf?
    Quote from kaydie

Totally lost here.. im sitting on 12gb of ram and only 2-3 are utilized at any given time, when im playing on MC after a while my game will just STOP rendering chunks and if i try to render any more like walk over an invisible lag hole it crashes and says out of memory and forces a client restart.. this is very annoying and i tried reinstalling the game deleting all the files in .minecraft etc.

There is no reason this should happen, furthermore MC never takes more than 500-700MB of ram in my processes... so clearly somethings messed up with the patch, any one know of any solutions?

(I have never even SEEN this error message and i've been playing since 1.4... it started immediately after 1.66

As far as I know, Minecraft only uses just under a gig by default. You could try assigning more ram to Minecraft to alleviate the problem. Compounds if you use high res texture packs. Download the minecraft.jar and create a .bat file in the same directory to run it?

I use this line in the .bat to run the Minecraft with 3gigs of ram:

    java -Xmx3G -Xms3G -jar minecraft.jar

Overall, I've not been impressed with my 2 days in 1.6.6. If I pick up this game again before 1.7, it will be to play in 1.5.

posted a message on Java [SEVERE] Minecraft Chunk Error - Looking to recover somehow
Tried disabling all mobs, and it still spams the same errors. Be nice if you could just ignore error, and deal with teh corruption. Prob take me 30 minutes tops to fix the displacement of that chunk, if that.

    So much writing...

Try updating Java and your server files. Also make sure you have no internet connection troubles and your drivers are updated.

All of that was checked and done when creating the 1.6 server like 2 days ago now. I didn't transfer anything over from 1.5 except old maps. The problem is definitely in the chunk file as all other maps work fine, or this map works deleting said chunk file.

I think it's more likely problems with 1.6.6, wish I had stayed on 1.5 for awhile longer.

posted a message on Java [SEVERE] Minecraft Chunk Error - Looking to recover somehow
Recently a friend and I restarted a new world after spending so much time on a pre-existing one that ended up with chunk generation errors, basically the outer edges of the existing chunks got corrupted, I don't know, but it caused mis-alignments with the new chunks generated just past. That was in 1.5

Anyway, that's besides the point. I've spent maybe 12 hours straight on the new world, 1.6.6, and after exiting game, simplesave plugin through bukkit did it's backup, I also did a force save-all and manual backup, which has become standard for me after the last world had chunk errors. Well after restarting the server later, I got a plethora of [SEVERE] errors which slightly varied. Sometimes the server would just lock up, others, it would claim to load fine, but error when a client could see the infected chunk in their POV. There errors would repeat indefinitely causing massive CPU usage and eventually server crashing.

I'll link four separate error logs, 3 through Crafty, and 1 through straight up Vanilla Minecraft Server.

What it seems to be doing is it *thinks* a piece of the chunk is in the wrong spot so it moves it, and it appears in the wrong spot. I've tried to edit the area, delete it, whatever, but server keeps crashing before the changes are saved. I'm not sure if the chunk is displaced and it's trying to move it back properly, or thinks the proper place is the wrong place and therefore displacing it. I've isolated it to the single -1.-1.mcr file. Deleting it resolves the issues with the world, but also deletes everything I've done so far as it's all in that chunk file.

Now, you've read that I backup stuff, so here's the kicker. Loading backups isn't fixing the problem. They're also causing errors, even before starting the 12 hour projects I've been working on so far that visually shows the error. So I'm a bit confused. I've played on the server, stopped it, started it, and the backups saved in that time all now error! I've tried other map files, they all seem to work properly. I've deleted the level.dat's, the .lock files, restored those files from a freshly generated same seed as the problematic one and so forth. Just to try things. The error is in -1.-1.mcr and there's nothing I can do.

I also tried moving the region files into a same seed in singleplayer. I still got the error, and some other interesting errors. There were a lot more displaced chunks in one test, but I've not been able to reproduce that error after trying some other things.

I do think I've discovered why the error repeats infinitely on multiplayer. I gave my client 3gigs of RAM to play with and loaded up the singleplayer. I created a fresh generation and only moved the problematic -1.-1.mcr into the region directory. When I loaded, after a lockup for 10 seconds or so, I both became infuriated and laughed my ass off. The chunk piece that is error'ing was launching sheep all over the place, hundreds of them. I guess that's why the server may be crashing and rubber-banding when you try to do anything.

Anyway, I really don't want to lose all this work, I'd love some insight into the error and possible ways of recovery. I'm going to disable all spawns in multiplayer and see if that gets me anything, but I wanted to get this post out there in case anyone else has thoughts or wants to try something. I'll include all my files, the saves from multiplayer and singleplayer, screenshots, and several error log cut and pastes. My own server.log file is over 500mbs big now :tongue.gif:

Last note, I did try loading the map in 1.5, got the same errors and such. This was before I was 100% convinced it was the -1.-1.mcr file in region directory. Everything else has been done in 1.6.6. Map was created in 1.6.6.

    Here are the screenshots:

This is of singleplayer raining sheep.

This is the first one showing the displaced chunk. That chunk should be off to the right a little ways, definitely not where it is. And yes, all of this was done legitimately block by block if you were wondering. Me and my friend like to play hardcore. The only mods we've used are MagicCarpet and NaturalGiants and SimpleSave, all bukkit.

This is a glitched Magic Carpet that I originally fall through when loading the backup file. Wasn't sure if this could possibly have anything to do with the corruption. My friend thinks it might more than I think so.

    And here are the errors:

    Error 1 (loaded with Crafty):

    Error 2 (loaded with Crafty):

    Error 3 (loaded with Crafty):

Error 4 (This one was loaded with just bukkit):
    http://www.mediafire.com/?nzp758q4s1r7p4z

Error in vanilla minecraft server, no bukkit, no mods, nothing:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?opew0rstmpkyyt7

Note: All the errors sort of cycle through. When I load the server sometimes I get no errors at all until a client connects. I believe now it's mobs being loaded in and around the error chunk as discovered by loading it in single player effectively showed me. Sometimes it will error and still load the server, others it will error and the server will lock up.

    And the game saves:
