I think when addressing a problem, it is important to know where the problem originates.
Are you experiencing FPS lag? FPS lag is like you're watching a really choppy video and frames are frozen for noticeable time. If this is happening, it is a local machine problem:
-Your computer cannot run minecraft so well. Upgrade your computer to fix. Usually a RAM/GPU problem.
-Something is using up all your system resources. Close out of anything you aren't using.
-You haven't restarted your computer in weeks. Restart your computer.
-Etc.
(multiplayer only) Are you experiencing high latency? High latency is when your game seems to be working fine visually, but other players and/or mobs seem to be jumping from one place to another. If this is happening, it is a network problem.
-The problem may not be on your network; it could be a problem on the other end. Nothing you can do about this.
-You or someone in your network is downloading or uploading something and it is using all your bandwidth.
-The server may have tick lag. Also nothing you can do about this.
-Etc.
I hosted a 1.5.2 vanilla minecraft server. I tried running the server with craftbukkit - broke some chunks, I started a new map, and now my friends, when they try to join, experience the following (on their end):
-a "gray screen" with "feeling like im falling" for an abnormally long time before the map loads.
-can break blocks, but nothing drops
-cannot harm mobs.
-They have a 20-second delay or something.
On my end, I see them standing still in the spawn area. I am able to hit them once, and then I cannot hit them again. After a few minutes they disconnect with reason "EndOfStream"
This may not be related to craftbukkit, and may be a network problem. I have already tried the basic diagnostic steps: restarting computer, router, modem, hooking computer directly to modem, doing a system restore, deleting everything from the .minecraft folder and server folder and trying again - etc. The problem exists whether the server I run has craftbukkit or not. Please advise.

Where you found us: I was a Mod on Sovereign, had to leave for awhile then came back to find Odyssey. Really want to come back to my home server at Phase.

How I found the server: I was browsing the forums for a roleplay server and found this. It wasn't what I started out looking for, but I want to join anyways.
With the new smart-AI pathing, I'm curious how grinders that require a mob to drop 20-22 blocks will work... will the mobs still drop? or will these things become obsolete?
I also find it extremely irritating, as my animal farms are always 1 block deep (with fence on the inside of the dip), and should any animals get out, or if I want to lure an animal in, this kind of design makes it every easy. However, if animals no longer fall down edges, then it will also make this design obsolete.

I found your server while browsing the forums looking for a good server to play, and meet people on. I've been playing on an in house server with my friends mostly and would like to be part of something bigger.

33.36 Mbps up, 0.18 Mbps down. My current plan with TWC should be 5 Mbps down. I guess I know who I'll be contacting. Thanks!
