Nope. Dinnerbone said that it was a rouge fish. Aka Red Fish. AKA Red Herring.
He also said he was toying around with snow layers piling up naturally, but that got dropped too.
Quiver is in the same boat, added to the png but never used. Probably because they realized its unnessecary and better to do other things with their time, same as skis. Never the less we found it and dinnerbone wanted to be clever.
The new lava texture is what's keeping me from upgrading me to 1.5 later.
When I come across one texture I see in a game I don't like my first reaction isn't THIS IS HORRIBLE OMG I CANT PLAY ANYMORE.
Its more like, hmm that could have been better but I see the style they were going with.

Seriously, how much longer?! It's been about 2 months since 1.4.7 and god knows how long since a good update. Don't get me wrong here, I love Mojang and their team. It's just I wish they would release more frequent updates so the people don't get bored. Sure, we have snapshots. But to me, it just doesn't feel the same.
Well, does anyone agree with me? Disagree? Post it in the comments. Thanks for listening to me!
Your joking right? Its coming soon for one, and 2 months is hardly that long for a full update. If anything updates are starting to come faster now.
Snapshots feel exactly the same to me, bugged updates. Like every updates was when notch was updating the game every week.
At least now the bugs don't make it to full release anymore.
I can live with this. Only because its not a hopper, its a hopper minecrart. Doesn't really have a hole on the bottom... so it needs to be sucked out like any other container, with a hopper.
Fair enough. Let me ask you this though. Is the current snapshot worse than 1.4.7 because of the lack of the lighting fix? If the answer is no (and it is), then why wait to release it?
If mountains of code hadn't already been written I would agree, but the only reason I think it's worth it to wait is that we are already so close to it. Another week or a whole update? I choose a week. (just an example not a real time frame)
I didn't say stop working on the lighting fix, I said push it off to 1.6. It would probably come out in a snapshot shortly after the release. You would be getting it in the same amount of time, it's going to take just as long to test the lighting fix in 1.5 as it would in 1.6. Right now they have working code that is good enough to be released today and it is just sitting around waiting. I say release 1.5 and start testing the lighting engine in 1.6.
And I say we have had this lighting problem for far too long. I would rather wait until they are comfortable releasing it than assume that everything is good on their end. Not to mention any more bug fixes we might see too.
What (other than for charity) is the point of Mojam? they seem to be delaying the release of 1.5 yet again by putting something else more important. If Mojang would add just 10 new employees we could have had about 50 to 75% of what is on the Planned feature page in the wiki either done or almost done and into 1.5 or 1.6 and the whole community would be much more happy. Hell i would not cry if modders like cpw, Azanor, Sorayn, and others were added to the Mojang team. and also wasent the Bukkit team hired by mojang? if memory serves yes they were. so why not put their skills to work on something like the magical Mod API that was suppost to be here 4 UPDATES AGO (aka Full Release MC) Mojang seems to like either delaying their updates or not listening to the community telling them to add more members to their group.
Dude. Its 3 days of making sweet games for charity between several different companies, its not going to take them the rest of the month. That's pretty awesome to me. Mostly because ludosity is a part of it too
But really. Its just 3 days. Is that really so long?
I think they should release it as is, and put the lighting engine in 1.6. There are a lot of working features in 1.5 that are being held up by one feature they are having difficulty with. Why hold everything back for that one?
Because its needs to happen? Why would you want another release with that crappy lighting glitch that actually does spawn hostiles where they shouldn't be and causes far too much lag on servers.

Dinnerbone said something about it on twitter (or somewhere else?) a bit ago.

Until then no. Its been stated before, but far too much lag for any contraptions once these blocks start appearing in builds all over youtube.

Or maybe... maybe the villagers could give mediocre quests...

I don't believe it though, I want a snapshot with the new lighting first so we can find bugs in it.

And give me a use for my chests of eggs.

Makes the update more worth it imho.

I had this issue and messing with settings never fixed it for me when I had ati/amd either.
The only thing that worked was to use the default option or whatever your equivalent is. Usually called let the 3d application decide or something
Because its needs to happen? Why would you want another release with that crappy lighting glitch that actually does spawn hostiles where they shouldn't be and causes far too much lag on servers.

They are busy making a game in three days for charity. Probably don't have much time for twitterbating lol
However they've surprised us before so only time will tell.
