Already tried all that months ago. Nothing works 1.8 broke Minecraft.

How about we all just face the real problem - Mojang made a really bad update.

Well, 1.8 seems to be working fine for me. It actually increased my FPS.

Im trying to play Minecraft not launch rockets for NASA. A new computer should work fine... 1.7.10 works fine on both my computers the problem is whatever was changed from 1.7.10 to 1.8.

That's why I said your computer may have been incompatible with the new features.
I never said you needed a supercomputer to run 1.8.

    Chest Quest
    by mr_rain77

    About

    Hmm?
Out of pure boredom, I decided to create an adventure/puzzle/parkour map named Chest Quest.

    What's this all about?
When you wake up in a mysterious second universe where Earth doesn't exist and find Chest, it's all fun and games until a certain king comes along...

    When will this be released?
    I don't know.

    Requirements?
It's required that you have fun!
    No, really? Oh.

    1) Don't break or place blocks unless instructions during a quest say otherwise.
    2) Follow the story. If you don't understand it, there will be a spoiler explaining it once the map is released.
    3) Don't mess with commands, especially /gamerule, /time, /gamemode, /kill, /spawnpoint or /setworldspawn. Spawn points should automatically be set when moving to a new place, but if your or somebody else's spawnpoint (if you're playing on a server) gets unset, or accidentally set in a new place, then you can use teleportation commands.
    4) Multiplayer is optional, however the map is created in Singleplayer and hasn't been tested on Multiplayer yet.
    5) Do not lose quest items! (e.g. A Nether Star or Paper). You cannot get another one without cheating for it.

    Anything hidden?
You many find some hidden Trapped Chests occasionally named Easter Egg hidden sometimes cleverly or obviously. But watch out, not all of these Chests are filled with Gold Nuggets! Some may just be screaming death at you.

    Fight or flight!
You may find yourself - without warning - at a very dangerous situation, sometimes unarmed. So what are you going to do? Fight or flight? You guessed it - fight! ... Wait, you thought the latter? Well, you actually have to fight...
So, yes. There is some combat in this map, but starting near the end of the map. There will be intense combat during the last chapter, so expect a great combat-filled finale. With lots of death.

    Changelog
January 28th - Thought of idea while eating cereal and thinking about cats, started building and constructing
February 1st - Made decent progress, first chapter, released thread
March 10th - Broke out of my lethargy and started working on map again, starting working up progress, updated thread

    Notes
You may find the story insane or rushed. Well, it is insane, but not rushed. While I didn't actually have a script on exact dialogue and events - since I really like to skip all that junk and start working right away - I tried using a different technique; to make the story up as I go. This is usually based on things that have happened to me or other people, or just brainstorm really, really, random things.

Remember that the map is not serious. It's just a fun little thought I decided to transform into a reality.

One last thing - I am terrible at redstone. Absolutely newbie at it. If you decide to look at the Command Blocks, I won't blame you if you shake your head in disgust. I just slop on commands and use the ones that are as basic as possible, while still maintaining the efficiency and process of each.

    Screenshots

A few sample screenshots of what's in store in the first two chapters or so (first three are a bit outdated; too lazy to retake them)

    Where you wake up

    The "Head"

    Quizzical!

    Is anybody up there?

posted a message on Need help with Server
The reason why you were able to connect to the server when you were both together is because the server was hosted in the house you were in. This is makes it possible to connect without something like Hamachi. So, when you are both at your own houses, if you don't port forward, you require some sort of "bridge" that allows you to connect to the server, which is, from before, something like Hamachi.

unfortunately, my router has a passcode on it so it is impossible for me to host here.

Astrocraft25, a VPS is a Virtual Private Server. Again, if you want a reliable and good server hoster, you either have to pay a few dollars a month or get a sponsorship. Otherwise, just stick to making your own whitelisted server. There are lots of guides to making servers.

Not quite 100. You get enough to enchant two items. This is hardly much of a reward.

Actually, in 1.8 and +, you just need 30 levels or above to use a level 30 enchantment which will only take 3 levels away.

posted a message on Test for fire

It depends on the block that is set ablaze. Certain blocks burn longer than others... But eventually the fire will extinguish... See this page for the specifics http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Fire

Whenever I use "doFireTick" and a block is burning/starts to burn, it stays burning forever unless I manually extinguish it.
    ...Unless you mean something else.

posted a message on What sort of fish would you like to catch in your Minecraft world? And what would rather NOT catch?
To me, it doesn't really matter on the type of fish that can be caught. I'd just prefer more variety, like small, big, fresh, or dirty fish.

If you'd only like to stop fire from spreading, you can type in:

    /gamerule doFireTick false

However, if you just want to detect fire through the whole world and remove it...
Well, I'm not sure how to do that. I don't think it's possible, even, without maybe using /testforblocks to detect the fire block from the beginning to the end of the world.

    posted a message on Help!
What it means is "craftbukkit.jar" could not be accessed and used to start up your server.

    Why this is happening:
    • In the ".bat" file where you start up your server, you may have spelled "craftbukkit.jar" incorrectly.
    • The ".jar" is misplaced or is not located in the same directory as the .bat file you are running.
    • The ".jar" is corrupted or invalid.
Fix? Download "craftbukkit.jar" and place/replace the file in the same folder as your startup ".bat" is located.

Also, the problem with what Minecat1000 said:
I think I might know what you're talking about. Try deleting the ".jar" part in your file name. That might be outdated but maybe you should try it anyway.

This wouldn't help. If you remove the ".jar" part, then the file would just be viewed as "craftbukkit" and not "craftbukkit.jar", which will lead to the same error again.

I doubt anyone will just do all the work for you for free while you sit back and relax.
Get Craftbukkit and install WorldEdit. Port forward.
