    First off: forget the 3 weeks idea. Without a steady source of income, it's not reasonable to set a deadline. The Wii Us not going to go away.
    I remember I was in much the same situation for the original Wii and we got it a couple months after it was released. It wasn't any less fun.

    Here's the strategies I used as kid to raise money:

    - eBay is a wonderful thing. Unless you're fairly poor, you've probably got a lot of semi-expensive stuff lying around that you don't really use; sell it and convert it into something you really want. You'd be surprised; old toys can be collectibles, and used video games can net you a few dollars at time.
    - If you get an allowance, save your money and let it accumulate. Admittedly, it's a slow strategy, but time is money, as they say. If you don't get an allowance, ask for one, offer to earn it with chores, and explain your situation. A good parent will recognize that you want to work hard for something you want, which is something that far too children learn today.
    - Make a deal with your parents. Many of my friends' parents offered to cover or split a big purchase if they could get consistent good grades at school for the next few weeks, or something like that.

    Other than that, there's the classic neighborhood jobs strategy: mow some lawns, watch some dogs, babysit, etc.

    Back up and say hi. (Hey, sometimes dragons can talk... and out of all the things a dragon could possibly do to you, talking is the preferable option)

    If it attacks, run and get inside a strong, non-flammable building.

    I think you mean hard drive hog? It doesn't copy the entire instance folder into memory.

    What I do is launch my vanilla Minecraft from the vanilla launcher, and use MultiMC for mods and snapshots.

    Great application! I wanted to build something like this on my own, but you did it way better than I ever could.

    One suggestion (or feature request, if it isn't possible) How would I enable a snapshot instance? I tried placing the snapshot jar in my instance's .minecraft folder, but it seems to get overwritten by the full version. And nothing seems to happen if I include it as a mod (no surprises there)

    Edit: As I was testing this, I found out that I could replace mcbackup.jar with the snapshot. Maybe there could be a built-in snapshot feature instead?

    This sounds like it might be the case. Check out the back of your computer. You should see one large panel - those are the ports from the motherboard. (maybe you already know this, but it's better to explain things anyways) If there's a monitor port (VGA/DVI) in that large panel, you do not want to plug any monitor into that unless you have no other option.

    If you have a dedicated graphics card, that'll be a small horizontal panel, probably below the motherboard. Plug your monitor in there.

    This. You have 3 days to find a diamond, and you use a specific seed every time. But after three days, you delete the world, regenerate it (with the same seed), and try again.

    This was the first adventure map I've played that was actually fun. I loved the Metroid-style progression, where it's exploration-based, with plenty of backtracking. I usually knew exactly where to go after I hit a switch because I had seen the door before it opened.

    The best part was that it was challenging, yet forgiving. Unlike most adventure map creators, you seem to understand that challenge should not mean frustration. Even during the "parkour" sections, which I usually hate, I had fun because you added checkpoints, and the platforms were larger than the usual 1x1 floating blocks.

    So it baffles me as to why you abandoned those principles after the "ending", where you open up a passageway to a long, checkpointless parkour section over the Void, followed by a long, checkpointless parkour section in the End. At that point, it became just like every other adventure map which, for some hare-brained reason, prides itself on frustrating its players.

    Platforming. (Most people call it "Parkour")
    Jumping from 1x1 floating block to another 1x1 floating block that is exactly 4 blocks away (the maximum length of a sprint jump) is not fun, and it is extremely frustrating because Minecraft's controls are not meant for that sort of precision. If I wanted to jump around I'd play Mario. If I wanted to do parkour I'd play Mirror's Edge. I play Minecraft because I want an adventure.

    I've said this before to anyone who will listen: There's absolutely no reason why the current limit couldn't be 256 instead of 128. The number 128 indicates to me that the Y coordinate is stored in a Java "byte" type-variable, which ranges from -128 to 128. Currently half of that is wasted. If they switched to an unsigned byte (which goes from 0-255) or allowed terrain generation in the whole vertical range, we could get double the height without much increase of memory usage (aside from more mobs, blocks, etc. being loaded at once)
