The Mayans never predicted the world would end anyway. Apparently, the calendar ends on a day that the human race is supposed to reach a new level of enlightenment or some crap. Probably gonna be like Y2K.

That day of enlightenment is when we become enlightened that 2012 is ********.

And you're giving the Nasties too much credit, you should see those guys in Iraq/Afghanistan. Can't handle 1 guy shooting at them with an AK-47 from 700m, how are they going to hold up against a zombie invasion...

    ORLY?

There's a reason that they need to keep resorting to IED's to kill us, they're using irons against us and firing from over 500m away. They'll drop 8000 rounds and tear up nothing more than dirt. Occasionally they actually manage to hit something with the hail of bullets, but their whole strategy relies on indirect fire, IED's, and ambushes (which aren't even really ambushes anymore). The only time you ever get shot at now within 500m is during an ambush, and most of the times those happen is when you're already RTB.

ANYWAYS! Going off topic, if you want to continue that conversation we can make another thread for it.

And getting ahold of an UMP and M16 isn't that hard.

Sure they are. The UMP wasn't produced prior to 1986, so there aren't any pre-ban transferables on the market.
The same is true of the M16A4. Assuming you have the $10,000+ dollars for an older A1 or A2 model pre-ban, or a drop in auto sear, you can mock it up to look and function like an A4 model, but you can't own an official A4. Now if you think that in a SHTF scenario that the streets will be littered with M16A4's and UMP's from dead soldiers and cops, you've got some wishful thinking. as I said before, the police don't own many sub-machine guns or PCC's anymore. Even if they did, the UMP isn't cheap, and many PD's couldn't afford many of them when Subguns were the standard for SWAT and the like. I bet their are many more MP5's out their in department storage rooms than UMP-45's. The military would **** on a zombie situation fairly quickly, and I doubt there would be many soldiers killed. Even in a more realistic SHTF situation, such as the L.A. Riots, the National Guard sweeped up the mess fairly quickly when they finally arrived. Honestly, I think planning out what I'd do in zombie Apocalypse fantasies is kind of stupid, as it'll never happen, but i'll jump in threads on the subject once in a while just for fun.

Are you aware that the FN2000 and the M16A4 are both chambered for the same round? Are you also aware that the M39 is 16.5 lbs? You try humping that and see how quickly you grow to hate it. Personally, I think trying to turn the M14 into a marksman rifle was a horrible idea to begin with (hell, I think the M14 was a horrible idea). If I were going to go with a battle rifle, it'd be a DSA Para FAL. 7.62 NATO might loose a lot of muzzle velocity out of a 16 inch barrel, but I'd be using it at intermediate to close range anyway. Good luck getting a hold of a UMP or an M16A4 anyway.

Saying that anything other than .45 has inadequate knockdown power is a pretty ignorant statement too.

I realize the M16 and FN2000 both use the same NATO 5.56x45, but I would much prefer the lighter version where I can do more to customize it for the battlefield rather than the bulkier bull-pup. Perhaps it's more than I hate bull-pup rifles with a passion, but I would take an M16 over the FN any day.

And yeah, the M39 might be heavy but it's not something you'll be carrying around much anyways. I'm not sure about you, but I plan on staying either in my house or some sort of fortified location rather than running around. Bulky, sure, but it's accurate enough and has the power to hit targets between 300m to 600m which is all that should be needed. The FAL might be lighter, but as you said, it has a shorter barrel and is going to loose a bit of muzzle veloctiy.

The thing is I want a SMG for CQC, and M16 or M4 for intermediate distances, and then the M39 for engaging contacts between 300m-600m. If I was to be mobile, I'ld just have an M4, but since the best plan is most likely to just fortify a position and dig in rather than run around, I want to have all my bases covered.

And getting ahold of an UMP and M16 isn't that hard.

kk, now I just sound nerdy but still.

    MW2 CLASS >:biggrin.gif:

That's understandable. I'd love an MP5K, but an actual H&K made one is not easy or cheap. I'd also love an FS2000, but the cheapest they are going for on gunbroker is $1600. FN seems to enjoy making expensive products.

MP5 would be worthless against zombies, as would an FN 2000. You need knockdown power, which would mean a .45 at close range. A HK UMP would be perfect for CQC, but for further ranges an M16A4 or M39 EMR would be best, I would prefer the M16 though just because of the recoil.

I...what? I don't understand...I did read the previous posts...and how is my comment "a random comment"?
...I was just adding my thoughts about the picture and the discussions about NASA and such...

I hope this is a joke. Seeing as you're new here, please stop being so unnecessarily aggressive, we don't take kindly to trolls.

I'm not trolling at all, if I was going to troll I'ld bash the conspiracy theorists. I was attempting to point out the fact that the image was already explained and has nothing to do with alien craft of any sort in the post just before yours.

The weird thing is this comes from a source that has SOME legitimacy. Most likely just a photographic anomaly, but it MIGHT be something else lol who knows. If it was it's not like NASA would tell us.

You could always try this mysterious ninja technique that few have mastered. I call it, "reading the other ****ing posts before posting" although some others refer to it as "proper forum etiquette". I guess it's too much to ask, not all of us can be ninjas...

    Excuse me?

Yeah, think before you post, that usually involves gathering information on the topic, often done by reading the previous posts BEFORE posting. If you want to contribute something to the discussion you need to add onto it, not just add in a random comment.
