This v-sync is probably the reason why it's 720p docked, and has a lower render distance when undocked.
On average, Minecraft on Switch could mantain a higher average framerate than Wii U (even undocked), but this isn't apparent because the Wii U version doesn't drop straight down to 30fps!
Performance can be cut nearly in half cases where every frame takes just a little longer than 16.67 ms (1/60th of a second). In such a case, frame rate would drop to 30 FPS despite the fact that the game should run at just under 60 FPS.
The Wii U isn't THAT much more powerful than 360/PS3. In fact, it has a weaker CPU, which Minecraft is dependent on. And the save file size limit is also smaller on Wii U than it is on other consoles (512MB, and a Classic World can be up to 80MB)
I'd recommend finding a decent "small" map that you could later expand to medium or large once an improvement to console generation has been made.
Most of the comparison issues between pocket and console I put down to pocket not needing to act as a server for 8 people - most complainers don't recognise how significant that is. But the terrain generation difference is not a performance-based concern this time, as has been theorised it's to give PS360's tiny world the most biomes possible. Not sure that explains why the mountains are garbage, the beaches frozen, the oceans huge and almost all deep (so no clay) and so on. Basically, it's not finished.
In addition to this, the terrain cuts off at the very edge of the world sometimes. This means that there are Taiga trees that are sliced in half or ores that cannot be mined.
But I found a seed with a village on Wii U, plus an even mix of hot/cold biomes so I'm set

They confirmed that splitscreen is coming in the Bedrock version.

Well it should, seeing that the code is unified across platforms. Why do you think the Wii U and Vita versions continue to get updates?

Play in undocked mode and head to a jungle.

When something only slightly intense happens, the game just immediately dips to 30fps regardless.

Well, Amplified Worlds are exclusive to newer gen consoles aside from Wii U.

Also, the problem were terrain was abruptly cut off is FIXED in the latest update! Thank you 4J Studios!

It will revert it back to the old system, since it's going to be based on the very latest bug fix update.

Commands were added already! In a specialised UI under Host Privileges.

Try holding A+B+START+SELECT for 3 seconds whilst the sticks are in neutral position.

Probably in the next content update.
They added the Book and Quill in TU25 anyways.

It's a bug with mob AI.
I notice that Skeletons don't shoot at you and Spiders don't chase you when you hit them.
