posted a message on Problem Installing Minecraft onto Mac OS X
I am currently attempting to download Minecraft onto my laptop I just got but of course with my luck it is not working. I obtained the file from Minecraft.net after creating an account and the files I have downloaded were the ones for Mac OS X, also the Minecraft for Linux. I first tried the Mac one with the file named as minecraft.dmg while my friend told me to download the one under linux with the file named minecraft.jar. Although when I downloaded them both, neither worked like they were supposed at some point. With the .dmg file it would begin to install but come up with a fatal error telling me to fix it and restart. With the .jar file it was downloaded and came up as a .zip file. Now either I do not know how to unzip it, forgot how to, or cannot find the solution and of course I searched under Minecraft.net the problems I have been getting but was not capable of finding the resolution to my problems. So I would like some help in finding out the solution to my problems. Can you guys help me decrypt this note I got from the installation text:

    Bootstrap (v5)
Current time is May 15, 2014 7:09:53 PM

Please fix the error and restart.

Or explain to me how to unzip the .jar file that change to a .zip file.

This is what I have attempted:
    Downloading and re-downloading minecraft files
Turn on and off wireless connection
Fix the privacy settings in the system preferences
Search for resolutions under YouTube and Minecraft.net and forums
Find the proxy setting for minecraft.dmg file
Also moving the Minecraft file it gave me to a different location

    Please and Thank you,
    Dmitry

    2) My in-game name is meeko2009.
    3) I was looking around for servers that there's not going to be any players that are just instantly better because they paid you extra or that there are players who will insult people with "you're mom!" and I saw this so I decided hey, why not?
    4) Yes I have read the rules and I do agree to follow them.
    5) My computer isn't the greatest which means I can't pvp to well (that and I'm just not good at it) and also I want to build something awesome that won't get griefed.
Thank you for reading this application and I hope I will see you in the game soon :P
