posted a message on Mass Effect 3 Ending (SPOILERS, Obviously)
@mnm95 Don't worry, I know your just stating your mind as am I. I agree that the video ending was a bit disappointing, but even though the cut-scene isn't that great. Story-wise, I approve of the ending.

i was really hoping for Miranda in 3, I mean she survives and is a leading character in ME2 and falls in love with my character...but than is hardly there in mass effect 3. Super big let-down for me, though the romance is kinda awkward in ME3, sticking with Miranda is just down-right wrong. I mean I am risking my life for the galaxy and she can only show up when its about her sister :(

And the hitler thing is a little far...I wasn't defending the reapers, just stating their intent. They are not just simply killing for the sake of killing, they have purpose behind it...even though it is disturbing and wrong in my opinion. If hitler turned the jewish people into zombie robot things than it would be similar but he didn't...thank god.

But my main point is that the ending of Mass Effect 3 of is more than fine for me. But compared to most modern games I see, Mass Effect 3 has one of the best damn endings in the galaxy ;) I mean killzone 3, halo reach, skyrim, dark souls, and countless other games have endings that just do not compare in my opinion. Sure it could've been better, but compared to what I have seen in most games...I was expecting a little worse so I honestly like to congratulate Bioware on a job well done on what I see as one of the best sic-fi sagas out there...something that can even be compared to star wars in its grandeur.

posted a message on Mass Effect 3 Ending (SPOILERS, Obviously)
in all honesty, I was very impressed with the ending of the Mass Effect series' ending. Of course I was a little disappointed when I got there and saw it...but to be honest, no matter what the ending was I would've been disappointed because Mass Effect was so amazingly crafted (in my opinion) and it is sad it has to come to an end. I went ahead and picked apart the opening post so I can address it with my own opinion and views of the series and game.

    Quote from mnm95

I was annoyed because nothing you did mattered in the end.

You spend the whole game collecting war assets, but in the end, they don't make a difference. Like Deus Ex, the ending is just a choice, one out of three. NOT EVEN RENEGADE OR PARAGON. And then there's Shephard dieing. IMO, the perfect ending should have been Shephard surviving, like if you Collect almost 100% of the war assets. And if you don't have enough, Shephard can sacrafice himself for the greater good. The writers did a cop-out like in lost- in the end none of the choices, none of the things that happened matters.

The whole choice thing is the same as the other two games. Sure you have many choices to make, but in the end you are just choosing different ways to get to the same goal. For example, no matter what you choose in mass effect 1, you still stop the reapers in the end. Same as with Mass effect 2, you get to choose to destroy or keep the base, but the collectors are still wiped out. In all honesty, Mass Effect 3 gives you the most options of choice for the end.

Of course what you do beforehand has no bearing on what choices you get to make in the end, but it shouldn't. You make many choices, but every choice has the same goal in mind...unite the galaxy against the universe. All the choices do is flesh out the character of Shepherd...does he make the harder and less morale choices that get quick and often better results or does he have a strong morale character and does what he feels is right. Paragon and Renegade doesn't change your goals, just how you get there.

Shepherd surviving in my opinion is bad path to take. With his death he is separated from all life. He achieves an almost divine status as the rest of the (surviving) life view him as the savior of the entire galaxy. If he lives after the events than it is harder to achieve that status. It would leave this ending that would make many people wanting better closure. If Shepherd survives shouldn't he be able to do more epic things...become galactic dictator or whatever else since in all honesty he single-handedly saved the galaxy...three times. His death brings necessary closure in my opinion.

Another problem is that there's no epilogue, you're just left hanging as to what happens to everyone. Your crew (which we have no idea why they were going through a mass relay) crash lands on a random planet. With no Mass relays, and the ship broken they're stuck there. Because they need different foods Either Tali and Garrus would die, or only the two of them would survive.

I agree that there seems to be no valid reason why the Normandy goes through the relay. And it sucks that either the turians/quarians survive or the rest survive. But that doesn't make it necessarily a bad ending, just an unfortunate one. And they don't just leave people hanging, they leave it to interpretation by the player. The three endings, though the cut scenes are all near-identical, they are all vastly different choices. you just have to come up with how each one goes on your own.

And then there's the matter of all the combined galactic fleets STUCK IN THE SOL SYSTEM. They just leave us hanging. The galaxy, while still alive, most individuals are pretty much screwed.

The combined fleet is stuck there and will probably have to settle on Earth (except the turians and quarians who will die of starvation). But do not forget a large majority of the fleet was wiped out fighting the reapers. You see hundreds/thousands of ships at the beginning of the fight, but when the crucible comes you don't ever see more than ten at one time. Everyone is stuck there...but everyone isn't actually a lot of people.

And then there's the manifestation of the forc- er I mean the cosmic start child. WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THAT. The reapers (synthetic life) wipe out organics to prevent synthetic life from wiping out organics? A bit Hypocritical. And, that wasn't even the original planned ending---

The reapers don't remove organic life, they harvest it. Though it seems all the same, the reapers view their actions as good acts saving all species. Though they do kill people, they harvest the dna and organic material to create new reapers. So in essence these species live on in a new form rather than die and disappear. Though it seems the same, it just depends on what angle you view it from.

Bioware apparently changed part of the script based on the feedback from the fans. BUT, what most of the fans complained about was how little of Miranda's ass was in the game. And guess what? Bioware didn't change that. Miranda (and the other squadmates from ME2) barely show up at all.

Well Miranda was my favorite Mass Effect 2 character. Most people saw her as bitchy, but so what. It gave her character and honestly she was a bit more complex than that...but I did like her ass as well. I wish I could have seen her a lot more as she was my romantic interest which disappointed me as she was absent for most of the game unlike ash. However, i am fine how the Mass Effect 2 characters are in 3; they only joined up for that sole mission and went in their separate ways to do what they wanted...sure I liked them all; but I am fine that they didn't play leading roles.

Sure, we have our opinions, but the dark energy makes a lot more sense to me. And what's horrible about it is that, because of the script leak, Bioware CHANGED it to the crappy thing we have now.

So basically I'm just saying that Bioware screwed up and made the ending of an Epic trilogy dissapointing. I'm not saying they need to change the ending, but if they were to release a dlc changing the ending, I wouldn't be opposed.

Well this just goes to show how the fans screwed up and whoever released the spoiler did as well. People went against the script just because it wasn't perfect and because fans complained and cried about it, it was changed. At least we know Bioware listens to their fans now...just wish the fans didn't give their opinions. The writers are making the game and writing the story...that is like people protesting the ending of harry potter and than having it changed, just ridiculous.

the dark energy ending has a lot of potential and seems like it can be great, but it is so different from the current ending that they can't truly be compared. The ending of that could be great, but at the same time it can be executed horribly. I hope the current ending is not changed as it is more than adequate. You get three vastly different choices that are all very tough. It leaves much to speculation which I think most epic stories like mass effect should be done. All we know is the choice he make and that all civilization goes backwards because of it...you get to fill in the blanks.

Oh, and by the way, what the HELL was up with the Human-Reaper at the end of ME2 (seriously, I don't even know. If you know, say something.)

No clue, I think the reaper was entirely unnecessary and was just there to make a cool boss.

Why do you want to join: Friend recommended it for me and after looking into the lore, it seems very interesting and detailed. I am very interested in RPs and usually dissapointed in the lack of seriousness in most RP servers.
    IC (In Character)
    Name: Beorhtryth
IC Age: Longer then non-forgotten ones could remember
    Race: Forgotten Ones
    Profession: Plain Walker
Background: Beorhtryth was apart of the many forgotten ones who worked upon humans and caused the creation of demons. Though Beorhtryth was apart of the forgotten ones who worked on the two races, he didn't play much of a role in their creation. He merely assisted those who performed the actual task, but nonetheless he bared witness to the creation of one of the most amazing and one of the most terrifying races to set foot upon the world. Beorhtryth was against the attempt at killing the demons, but Beorhtryth knew his place in society and never spoke out against it.

After examining both the demons and humans for thousands of years Beorhtryth came up with his own ideas of a perfect world. One based on survival, if a race was to be considered perfect it would have to be able to rule all or defeat those it cannot rule. Beorhtryth believed that the humans achieved perfection for a time, but eventually fell from their enlightened state.

Now Beorhtryth continues to serve his leaders and is still fiercely loyal to his race, but he hopes that in time he will gain power and leadership to be able to bring his own ideas of perfection to the forgotten ones.
