That's not the point I'm trying to make. The point is, this game is not the game it used to be and as such, the content being added and the direction it's taking it is making it unrecognizable as the Minecraft it once was (and was originally intended to be).

What game is this? This certainly isn't the game I started playing back in beta 1.6 anymore. This game isn't the simple yet satisfying experience of mining and building whatever you wanted that it used to be. This game isn't the directionless sandbox world of infinite possibilities, where you decide your own journey that it used to be. This isn't the Minecraft that it was supposed to be. I feel like this game has completely lost its original direction. I feel like I'm playing in some blocky RPG with more emphasis on potions, combat, and dungeons than on building and creating. I have seen Minecraft grow and change since early 2011 and all I can say is that I'm saddened with what its turned into. Every new update, the devs just seem to add worse examples of already existing mods to the official vanilla. Forest Mansions and Ocean temples with boss battles? Really? If these were mods, I wouldn't even consider downloading them, yet now they're official.
A long time ago this game took a direction down the wrong path from which it hasn't recovered. Back in the day, the game felt satisfyingly complete. Everything in the game had at least some kind of genuine utility and purpose, and dungeons were never anything more than an interesting curiosity to run into while mining. Now every freature just feels empty and useless, and the more attempts at adding content to fill the endless expanse of terrain, the more empty and incomplete the whole game feels. We might as well just start calling minecraft RPGcraft, because that what it feels like its turning into

how well can you speak Japanese?

Well of course you'd say that. You started playing around then.
Beta was the best time for the Minecraft community. By 1.5.2 it had already turned pretty cancerous.
The most fun I ever had multiplayer-wise, however, was 1.2.5-1.5.2

For me I'd have to say late beta is the period that is most nostalgic for me. I started playing around Beta 1.6.4 I think. The simplicity of it all holds a special place in my heart.

Does SLI work with shaders, or does Minecraft only utilise one GPU at a time? I'm very tempted to get a new card to run in SLI, but I'm not sure whether it would be a total waste of cash.

Not really directly related, but I currently have a really massive problem where daylight shines underground during certain times of day (usually when the sun sets beyond the horizon). This isn't a problem with every shaderpack, however I've noted it as a persistent issue with Continuum. Any solutions?

No it doesn't. Minecraft is not an RPG game, it's a creative survival and building game. Stop suggesting changes that contradict the fundamental purpose of Minecraft.

Just use wayback machine to find the plans. It took me a couple minutes to find them here https://web.archive.org/web/20130228062024/http://biltmore-floor-plan.org/

Should I report bugs in this thread? I have a pretty big one

1.7 is better for pvp because you can block and hit at the same time (right click with the sword and attack). This feature was removed in 1.8
about quickdropping... I don't know.

Yeah, I think this might also have something to do with it. There have been a few notable versions that seemed to have large spikes in mod activity. 1.2.5, 1.4.7, 1.6.4, and 1.7.10

Why would they do this? It seems completely counter-intuitive to me.
I just assumed there was fewer mods because 1.8 was written completely differently and would require a complete rewrite of the mods. I didn't know it made certain features much harder to code. That's moronic of mojang to do.

Yeah. Something toggleable would be perfectly fine by me.

that would obstruct regular gameplay a little too much imo
