Prince_Deity posted a message on Diamond ore and block retextureI figured that diamond ore should match the style of emerald ore since they are both gems, and I also figure since iron blocks were changed to look unique that so should diamond blocks. I noticed that emerald blocks seems to copy the pattern of the emeralds themselves, making a diamond shaped pattern, so I wanted to make the diamond blocks match diamonds as well with a raised square pattern like we see here:Posted in: Suggestions
So, I present to you my new texture ideas:
Ore:
Block:
Here are a couple comparisons against emerald:
And here is a 16x16 wall and 3x3x3 cube of diamond blocks, just to give you a better idea of what they look like in a group:
And here are some side by side comparisons with the old textures:
I really hope this is at least taken into consideration, and I would appreciate comments from other users since we are who the game is made for.
Side note: If you like the textures and want to use them in your own texture pack, please feel free to do so. While I would like credit, I won't demand you do so.
Also, I've pretty much given up on the ore, and I understand the concern about how iconic the ore texture is, so I would much rather get an opinion on the block rather than the ore.
To those of you who say this is what texture packs are for, please note that this the suggestions forum. The existence of a mod or texture pack should not be used to dismiss an idea.
To those of you who think that textures shouldn't be changed, read this:

pefan posted a message on [POLL] Its About Time Minecraft Has Its Own Movie.minecraft becoming a movie is an awful idea. there are way better games that should be a movie over minecraft like gears of war, uncharted, kill zone , the last of us. they are a few reasons why it would suck. one it would be low budget there no way a big company would put more then a million $ in it. two minecraft is a fun game and all but going to a movie would be lame what would it be a guy making a pickaxe and then mining some rocks. three the annoying fan-base theres already a huge 5 year old fan base that sucks. four minecraft has no story so adding one in a movie would make no sense. five again i would rather see some action packed video game like dead rising 2 to be a movie it would be awesome to see chuck greene to be killing hundreds of zombies with a paddle saw.Posted in: Discussion -

The first thing to traps is that they must be assembled. Since all traps in this game are redstone based (some of them do not have redstone components so deal with it) they must be assembled by a Redstone Steve, a Steve with more knowledge on redstone/traps then your average Steve. Traps are completely assembled after a certain number turns. The amount of turns for a trap to be assembled are determined by the complexity of the trap. This is broken down into three categories. The first category for traps is Basic which takes 1-2 turns to assemble. The second category is Intermediate which takes 3-4 turns to assemble. The final category is the Advanced which takes 5+ turns.
Now I'm going to talk about how you play these traps. First lets say you have a unit on the playing field or table or whatever you wanna call it, who needs protection from other attacks. You would place a trap card of any kind in front of your unit like so:
= Unit who needs protection
= Trap card
Then you would place your Redstone Steve on top of the Trap card.
= Redstone Steve
Now lets say this is a simple Cactus Trap. It belongs in the Basic category and only takes 1 turn to assemble. After 1 turn is up, your trap is assembled and ready to be used.
This is how that trap is going to work. If the enemy unit attempts to attack your unit, the enemy unit will get caught in the trap and get dealt a certain amount of damage depending on the trap. After the attack the trap card is discarded. If the enemy has a Redstone Steve though, they can use him to disable the trap. Disabling any trap will take 2 turns. During that time, Redstone Steve is prone to attack by any other unit besides the one that the trap is assigned to.
This is all I have to write down for now. I'll edit this post in the future to complete this idea.
