We're still chasing down a few bugs with the new Smeltery, but it shouldn't be doing any weirdness with the renderer now. I also had a bit of fun with slime and TNT...
Shurhaian: Finite fluids are the kind that have no source block. They sort of flow wherever they like and make puddles.
hulduet: The level should actually be halved, not just visually. There's a config option for it.
nohl: Which farm are you using to kill mobs? Looks like it's doing player damage without actually having a player available.
pentheraphobia: There is no way to prevent drawbridges from being looted. Hmm... Distance extended is based on quantity inside, not signal strength, but I can look into it.
Rongmario: I never deliberately crashed anything. There's extra data added to crash reports regarding GregTech and OptiFine due to all the cross-mod bugs they cause.
Yusunoha: The speed of repair is "if you don't use the tool constantly, it's probably fine". It repairs anywhere in your inventory.
Country_Gamer: That sounds like an ars magica bug. Go report it over there.
Type1Ninja: Forge is not boycotting 1.7, it's getting Gradle support. Where did you hear this?!
ModLoader has been abandoned, and probably won't be coming back, but that's different.
baseballstarsccr: The cast may be in there but not rendering. MCPC+ can cause quite a few bugs. I've no idea what else can cause such a thing.
Regarding the Smelting and Forging process: It is based on research from bronze-age technology. It has been gamified quite a bit to skip a lot of the tedium - you don't crush ore to remove stone, there's no slag, and putting the tool together works like magic.
The whole thing is based roughly on two types of areas. A workspace, collectively known as a Smeltery (Forge if toolworking is included):
The central structure resembles a Bloomery with a spout.
The metal casting was inspired by a particular scene in Lord of the Rings where metal is poured into a sword-shaped mold. This isn't particularly common in real life, but if you want to argue realism... well, floating block of ice!
Eunomiac: They probably are what you're thinking of. Given that I have no details beyond this picture, I'm going to say you're 200% accurate. Because 100% would be wrong!
TXF: Just using ingots turned out to be less interesting that making metals with the large structure.
If you still want to do it the old way, there's a config option.
dorky106: Try bibliocraft tool racks or maids. Those both tick their inventory.
ravendm5: Item IDs are shifted forward by 256. They still aren't correct if you're having the same error.
FatBobTheSlob: If the game becomes too easy for you, don't use the tools. Hammers were made specifically to be a tool version of buildcraft quarries, and quarries are quite a bit more efficient at what they do.
Drakothul: Is an intentional feature intentional? I'm going with yes.
Pillbox has been cooking up something nice and red.
Streetwind: Sea level determines what level various generation features happen at. It's useful for modded worlds with a different base height than normal.
BurningFirestorm: Link to this thread, not the license.
ravendm5: Change additional pipes or TConstruct item IDs in their configs.
Jiraiya, Cooolaid: OptiFine causes problems with quite a few mods. The author only supports vanilla, so there's nothing to work out. Report any bugs you come across in OptiFine's thread.
CZDanol: It's either flat daggers or jittery in-world items. I'll take flat over buggy. ^^;;
Linkeagleandzen: Man-you-llyn.
Ja99edMan: While it's possible to modify the ore dictionary, that can cause all kinds of havoc. GregTech does it and look how much angst it gets. ^^;;
econerd: Use the 1.6.X version for 1.6.4.
mkmr: You have some unofficial version of EE3. Without a public build, we can't give support for it. Go report it to whoever you got it from.
exelsisxax: Thaumium is currently inactive. We're still trying to get through it.
FatBobTheSlob: One of your mods is garbling the books or you have a corrupted download. Probably the former.
I've found a really odd bug. It only happens with OptiFine, so I'm not asking you to fix it. Due diligence on my part for reporting it, I suppose. ^^;;
Note: I created my own copy of the font renderer in TConstruct's books just to avoid OptiFine shenanigans. If you're up to it, perhaps you can do the same?
To everyone asking for updates or support on 1.5.2: You will be reported for the same reason as people asking for updates to 1.7. This is against forum rules. Please stop.
SatsumaBenji: You have an item ID conflict with additional pipes. Change the config for it.
DeathWave: The gui in the dev versions are broken. Really, really broken.
EmberQuill: Definitely a bug. The Smeltery is only supposed to eat lava when it's working.
minecraftnut: Blue slimes only spawn on slime islands and cannot be turned off anymore.
moonra: Stonebound is a bonus to the base speed. It's logarithmic in scale and averaged over the tool. More ardite means more stonebound.
Alldares: The stable version still has some of the Smeltery changes? Dangit! >.<
Nolorwolf: Battlegear hardcodes how torches are handled. It's being worked on, but it's no small oversight.
I was planning on making this a mod, but the more I got into the design and the visualization of it, the less sense it made. I still plan to make this, but well...
So, where exactly have I been lying? If any of the information I've brought up has been wrong show me why. I can assure you it has not been intentional, I'm merely working off from the data I have access to.
It's quite clearly evident the devs are just searching for excuses to do a smear campaign against gregtech.
If a smear campaign was the goal, we would be talking about how Greg is an **** and trying to enforce his will upon every modder in existance. Does that look like what we're doing?
I'd rather Greg just fixed his code to not spew misinformation all over the logs.
Example of ad hominem attack: You use a slightly larger font in every one of your posts just to annoy people.
habix: That's odd. Reproducable you say? Perhaps we can shrink the size of the lava inside the tank. OptiFine is doing some odd things with its z-buffering.
Malifrax: The mattock config shouldn't be on by default. Yay for messing with configs :3
CallMeHal: The drying rack is broken in the stable builds and working in the development builds.
speedbump86: Flat lakes can't be picked up with buckets. Sorry ^^;;
GregTech was screaming about the validity of its data, and the
iWareWolf: 1.7 has a prerelease out. You expect us to support 1.5 now?
hohoukn: Please stop lying. We understand you're on Greg's side, but stop putting words in our mouths.
Intentionally breaking GregTech is not the goal. Stopping the bug reports about "invalid" ore dictionary entries is. With the way it was implemented, GregTech should still function normally, minus a bit of data.
I had three bug reports about the names, only one of which is on the forums. The other devs did also. We weren't "flooded with reports". It was enough for us to take notice and try to have the one causing problems to stop.
progwml6: Threatening to report people for this causes more problems than it solves, plus they aren't breaking any forum rules. Censorship is completely against the ethic of the mod. As such, you are no longer allowed to speak in an official fashion regarding Tinkers' Construct.
Basileos: Downgrading the mod shouldn't have any problems.
hohoukn: Automatic scanning does not excuse console spam. It could have written them to a file and left a note in the log.
naturalAluminum is a Xycraft entry. All of the rods are Multipart entries. Slimeball and hambone are mine, but "hambone" is supposed to be registered exactly as-is. Conventions are only a guideline.
dorky106: Try the stable version. It should suit you better.
This is a really nice mod that does one thing well: redstone on walls. The fact that you can run two lines side-by-side is just gravy. It's one of those mods that really should be in the base game. :3

pentheraphobia: Try the arrows with stairs.

Yusunoha: Swords are a good use for moss. Hammers, not as much.
ChaosKaiBln: Liquid ender should be compatible with tanks. It's a Forge fluid at least.
d9_m_5: You can make golden carrots by pouring gold on them already. Same goes for apples and heads.

mightyhumble mDiyo would give permission for this project: HOOHAH!...seriously, it's fine. XD

It doesn't completely break. Any amount of testing with the two mods installed would verify this.
Right.
I never said this, and to my knowledge none of the other devs have. Mind sharing proof?
