Don't discourage the guy. Most of what's in InfiTools has been done to death by new modders anyway, and the ideas are good. Different tool materials are pretty easy to make too. With that being said, do your best to create something original, or at the very least something that you would use. That's what I do. :3
My family is nuts sometimes. They stole me for an entire weekend so I could attend two parties, and it isn't even halloween yet! The good news is I've brought back some nice things to play with, and around 100 more sprites to make things with. I can finally start pumping out blocks like there's no tomorrow.
Today's release is rather small. It's mostly groundwork and base code, but the crafting tables are quite usable. I've also decided to create a slab block for every kind of sensible block (grass is sensible, right?!), and possibly some quarter and eighth blocks as well.
Okay I installed everything right but it crashes and says I have itemsprite version of infitools? I really dont know whats going on but it says MINECRAFT FORGE on this page.
That's a mistake on my part. Some of the ItemSprite code was copied over when I ported it awhile ago and I missed it. It should be fixed now.
Finally. I was planning to do something like this, but keep getting distracted by making more tools of all kinds. My recipe book is over 900 pages too; mind if I put a link to this mod in my thread? :biggrin.gif:
The full release of Minecraft, with all the enchanting stuff and everything, is probably going to require a new save anyway. I'll add in a few combinations that are missing and probably do the whole power-SMP rewrite at the same time.
I've run into a problem with the chests. The animated chests are hard-coded to always look either like wooden ones, normal blocks, or flat. There isn't any way for me to add more animated chests without changing base classes, but the old style chests will probably look out of place. I've put up a poll to see which one people prefer; I can probably release a mini-mod to change chests back if the old style chests prevail.
I'll be heading in a different direction for a bit. Need more sprites though... heheh.
Considering how long 1.8 has been out, and that there's another version in the same spot that fixes that particular bug...
I've run into some weird things with the chests. They're quite normal in the world, but all look like wooden ones in the inventory. This is going to take a bit more time yet.

That's odd. I thought I ripped Core completely out of Nightvision? I'll go take a look and see what it still needs.
Edit: I forgot to swap out the Ebony Obelisk for something less entwined, bleh. For now, make sure that you've got a version of NightVision that matches Core; I had an ItemSprite version of both for awhile.
I've made around 40 sprites and textures for crafting tables, chests, and furnaces so far. Tomorrow should see a new release. :3
I'm still getting the crashing lr.playBlock error, but it happens less often. I was able to jump in the ocean twice, drown below y=0, and then float around for awhile before it happened again. Here's a save file that will crash every time: http://www.mediafire.com/?azud1du64qy1rcp
The problem might have something to do with the fact that light doesn't work at all below y=0.
A couple more pictures, the first one proving that trees do actually generate, albeit rarely.
The second one shows the waterfall problem better, seeing as you can see the entire waterfall.
It seems to be a problem with the generator, or perhaps water hitting the edge of the loaded area; updating nearby blocks has the water working fine.
That patch did fix the null pointer problem that's been running around. Cubic Chunks is starting to look pretty good now. I did notice a couple issues though:
Waterfall behavior is weird. Above a certain point (y=128?) it stops falling after a few blocks down. There's a waterfall on the right of this picture demonstrating the problem:
The problem happens higher up too; it's not limited to that point.
Blocks don't seem to be placeable anywhere. They're harvestable, just you can't put them back in the world.
The tree problem. Is this because trees don't generate above vanilla levels?
After playing for a few minutes this problem showed up. The error looks slightly different from the last one. Also, I was bobbing around in the ocean at the time.

Also, I did notice the easter egg class in your mod last time I tried it. Easter eggs in crashing programs are impossible to find. :tongue.gif:
Did I forget to take the F off of slime? Mmm... well, all of the numbers in the code are Float type for mining speed and end with F. 1.0 is actually punching speed; Wood is 2.0.
Some of the tool materials have special abilities right now. Lava, Glowstone, Netherrack, Slime, and Ice in particular. I'm planning on rewriting it so that nearly all of them get abilities though, including the vanilla materials.
There is an EE add-on planned. I won't be messing with x3n0's code at all, so no repair talisman, but covalence dust is planned. Some shard-shifting with the p-stone is as well. x3n0 is planning a huge rewrite of Equivalent Exchange so I'm waiting to start until he's done.
I mean, helmet + goggles, right? Or helmet + Mask, or whatever.
Helmet + Facepaint = Warrior. Hurgh!
That's an excellent idea. I was looking for a good way to absorb NightVision into Armor. Armor is also going to absorb some of the other ideas I had, like this one:
I've been creating some of the textures for chests and crafting tables. The textures will pull from the texture packs where I can, but some just aren't going to be possible.
Yes, among other things. I'll just post the design document bit on blocks:
TorchBlocks
Name Pending
There exist temporary placeholders for torches made with any of the tool rods, as well as a few cactus related recipes. This is an expansion of the torches to allow making them out of any material, not just wood.
Torches should be craftable with every rod except ice and have a matching graphic in the world. Each of these torch types should only take up a single block ID, with three in all.
Wood Torch – Already in the game. Coal + Stick = Torch
Redstone Torch – Also in the game. Redstone Dust + Stick = Redstone Torch
Glowstone Torch – Not in the game, but makes sense. Puts off a light level of 15, which means 14 in the block they're placed. Glowstone Dust + Stick = Glowstone Torch
Existing blocks that should be expanded to other materials:
Colored Glass – Placing 8 glass around a dye should make colored glass. Works for all dyes
Chisel
The chisel is a tool used for detailing blocks by creating patterns on them. The patterns can be cycled with the chisel, creating greater and greater details on the block.
Blocks that can be detailed: Logs, Planks, Stone, Stone Bricks, Ice, Netherrack, Glowstone, Storage Blocks except Coal, Sandstone, Obsidian, Pumpkin, Melon
I tried the test version and, well, it worked for a couple seconds. Moving the mods folder out and playing with just ModLoader, ModLoader MP, Forge, and GuiAPI gave me the same error after a couple minutes too.

This is a really nice mod that does one thing well: redstone on walls. The fact that you can run two lines side-by-side is just gravy. It's one of those mods that really should be in the base game. :3
