hmm,
10 destinations,
2 vending machines,
ticket given when you press a destination/call cart
part of a large cart system,
lcd clock, dont have a clock, but do have lcd display of how many carts are in station storage,
self destruct?? nuuuu,
master reset switch? nothing to reset,
nicely done. how do you do the counting circuit? I've done one with just a bunch of simple latches, each clock pulse they all reset then a delay from each latch output sets the next latch on down the line. it can be buggy, like multiple numbers set at once.
my station's mostly finished, I rebuilt it a week ago. 5 bays, 4 mine cart vending machines, 8 destinations. I was gonna have incoming carts drop down from above, but it will be a pain to fit all that extra wiring for remembering what bay is empty.
I just love building things, and seeing what other people come up with. I wonder if there are any other improvements I can make on mine?
when do we get pistons???!!!!!! when is 1.7 being released? this week I'm really hoping!
jk. I do believe the 1.6 update will be any day now. they are aiming for this week, but development time-lines can be unpredictable. when you really enjoy working on a project, you always want to add one more thing, then another, then start on another, and so on. stepping away and putting out a release can be harder then the actual work.
what I REALLY want are the pistons in SMP. so many projects waiting for it.
My wierd thing still happends. Everytime I jump off a minecart, I sink into the ground and die. Every single time, no matter how the ground below me is.
So my dreams of not having to walk for 15 minutes to transport between my bases are kind of crushed..
I see a lot of animals fall in one block, but doesn't happen to me. the only trouble I have getting out of carts is it just doesn't let me out if it's on a slight slope. I have to move the car some and try again. doesn't let me break it either.
in my pig factory, after a few minutes, I end up with a lot of zombied pigs in the lava, just standing there on fire. I can hit them but it doesn't do any damage. logging out clears them out. it's funny seeing so many animals on fire, enjoying a nice lava bath.
Don't bother with the vertical version. It doesn't work.
yeah, I see now. my bad. I didn't know you could change the delay on the repeaters. awesome feature. I'll do a step by step tutorial for youtube on how to build them all. posted here when I'm done.
Sure. As you know, the difference between a latch and a flip-flop is that the flip-flop only reads its input when the clock is transitioning (usually from low to high, the 'rising edge' of the clock). The way this is done in minecraft is to build a pulse generator into the latch, so that when the clock transitions from 0 to 1 a short pulse is generated that is combined with the D input to either Set or Reset the latch.
If you have 10 latches that you only want to change on the rising of the clock, then you can just build one pulse generator that takes the clock as input. The pulse output is now a signal that says it's the rising edge of the clock, so grab the previous latch's output. So AND that pulse with the Q output of the previous latch, and use that to Set the next latch. Oh, and if you only want one latch set at a time, then also AND the pulse with the Q-bar output of the previous latch and feed that into the Reset input of the next latch.
You may have to put a delay repeater on the Q and Q-bar outputs of the latches to make sure the signals don't flow through from one latch to the next, while the Pulse is still high.
Hope that makes sense. Basically what I'm doing here is turning all your latches into flip-flops, but consolidating the redundant pulse generators in the flip-flops into a single one.
cool, thanks for explaining that. I think I get it. I have it partly working testing the concept, but I can't see how it could be fit into a single vertical row. I plan to keep at this until I figure it out. I think I have an idea where I can do this but with one line going between latches.
Put a pulse generator on the output of your clock, AND it with the output of each latch and use that as the S input of the next. You just have to make sure your pulse is long enough to ensure the appropriate latches get set, but not so long that the signal will flow through the latch and the AND gate into the next latch, so use repeater delay as necessary.
could you explain that again? I've been trying to think of a way to link latches together with an AND gate, but I haven't been able to picture it yet.
I'm making a count down display. I have the digits 9-0 wired up, but I can't figure out how to send the signal down each of the 10 wires in sequence. I think I can do it with a full flip flop, but that's a lot of wiring. is there an easier way to have a pulse go from one latch to the next on each clock pulse?
I don't know how to play any dice games, but I love listening to heroic cthulhu podcasts. they have interesting story lines and player characters. I was wondering, has anyone attempted to come up with a mix of the 2 types of games? a role playing minecraft game with a little more structure? I don't like the leveling itself, but the evolution of the character itself can be very entertaining. I've heard of some games where the players have to come up with funny or odd pitfalls as well as great abilities, and both have to fit the back-history.
for example, survival island. the players would have to come up with a short history, maybe how they got there. maybe they'd have a great and powerful ability to talk to trees, but the pitfall is they believe everything they hear. this example could turn out bad, like a forest fire. I don't think any player would win that game. lol
I posted this here because I think it will be more accepted then under a more general topic. I hope to see some great ideas, not just flaming from the flamers
I might be interested. I'm 28, but probably don't sound it. I have a server running locally on my xen server. me and my brother have been building it up with our castles and towns and rail ways. just a few days ago I started messing with youtube. here's my channel http://www.youtube.com/user/mattsoftnet I think a new mic would do me a lot of good, and I'm ok with spending some money on one, but limited software options on linux are holding me back right now.
one type of podcast I love to listen to is role playing games, like heroic cthulhu. the players play their dice game mostly off mic, and the podcast listener mostly gets the improved story of the gm and pc's. the game play helps add some structure and the players are free to make whatever creative choices they come up with. I've thought about mixing the 2, role playing games and minecraft. my problem is, I've never done a podcast before, and I don't know how to play those games. finding co-hosts is another small problem too. but it's all something I'd love to try.
I have fedora 14 on my main desktop. unfortunately, it's the only desktop I have that is fast enough to handle minecraft and streaming at the same time. I can't get webcam studio's loopback driver to install, and it's primarily for debien/ubuntu. is there another program I can use to stream my fedora desktop?

did you do it all binary?

I don't really use twitter. is there an option to follow up wind?
