That'd be adorable! Though no purpose, it could really add some character to the game. I like it. :)

posted a message on How was your first ever Minecraft experience?

My first version was Minecraft PE (Pocket Edition). I felt the same as you when I first started! The possibilities were endless, I felt like I unlocked something amazing (which I did). But... uh... ultimately, I felt confused and scared. Mobs? They absolutely terrified me. I'd go out of my ugly, brick/quarts house at late morning to make sure I didn't encounter any burning mobs, and I'd go back home 2 minutes later even though the sun was still rising... I played this edition for about a year before I became a Minecraft fanatic.

Then, I got into Console Edition on the PS4. After a year of playing PE, I was a crazy Minecraft fan. Me and my family were browsing around on the PS4 games, when I noticed "Minecraft: PS4 Edition", so I pointed it out and we watched the trailer. My parents said we wouldn't be getting it, but I practically burst into tears and literally begged to buy it. And, after 15 minutes of begging later I got it. I learnt the controls quite fast, because I used to play Little Big Planet, and Minecraft had pretty much the same basic controls like jump, walk, crouch... easy.

Getting into PS4 was a huge step for me in Minecraft, because I created my YouTube channel in 2015 (which I'm inactive on now) where I uploaded videos like Stampy did like stories. At this stage, I got into watching Minecraft Youtubers such as DanTDM, Stampy, all the classics. DanTDM was the first Minecraft youtuber I got into. He was the one that made me want to get into PC Edition Minecraft. Why? I saw him make mod reviews, and I thought it looked really fun.

At first, I thought "Mod" meant "Mode", so I thought it was just a certain mode that gave you rockets, candy factories, animals, etc... it was really stupid. I talked about it with my parents (yes, I asked my parents about everything) and they told me a Mod was only on the PC version of the game. So... I begged for the PC mode xd... For weeks I wanted it, until finally I came into the lounge room and got on our family computer, to see "Minecraft" installed. This is when I got into Mods, which was a great experience.

Even though I finally got the Java Edition, I spent ages figuring out how to even download the mods... I really wanted this Rocket mod, that allowed you to build rockets, go to the moon, it had copper and some other additional ores... it was pretty cool. It's really sad, I know, but I literally spent months with my parents figuring out how to download it until finally when we got it to work, I played it for a couple hours then UNINSTALL. Yeah, I was a pretty annoying kid when it came to Minecraft.

Though I got into the Java edition of Minecraft and learnt the basic functions and controls of it, PS4 stayed my favorite. It still is one of my favorites to this day, and I created more unforgettable memories on the Console version of Minecraft than I did on PC. However, recently, I got more into Java and have really started to enjoy it.

I still play Minecraft... and I love it just the same as I just started. :/ Nothings changed. I do get nostalgia but I'm not at the "Back In My Day" stage yet. I'm still in the Making Memories Stage, even though I've played for over 5 years. :P Unlike some other people, I'm still enjoying the new updates... I understand some people feel sad because it's not like classic "old" Minecraft, but if they never updated it...you're telling me people wouldn't complain? Minecraft would be dead if none of the new features came out. Anyway, that was my first experience playing all versions (PE, PS4, PC).

bonus story: I was such a noob that one time I was in creative mode I was wondering "hm how do I craft diamonds??" so I looked up in the crafting menu how to and it said you needed Diamond Blocks to make Diamonds, so I wondered "hm how do I craft diamond blocks then??" so I looked at the crafting recipe and it said I needed Diamonds to craft Diamond Blocks, and I got really really mad and kept saying the game was glitching... 'o-o

    posted a message on Katana

No need. We already have Swords, bows, and other weapons. I don't see any use for this one, because if you've found diamonds/iron, unless the Katana would be more powerful than a diamond sword, no one will use it... also, please add more detail. 9 words isn't enough information to give full feedback.

Yeah. I'm sure they'll add different dog variations (hopefully). If they see a lot of people demanding it, they have no choice but to eventually do it. Would be an awesome update if it happened.

posted a message on Stages of tree growth

In my opinion, we're way better off having trees growing at the pace they do now. It may look nice, but if you think about it; would you really enjoy the trees growing at a slower pace? Would it be that convenient? There's plenty of mods that make this a reality. Try them out, see if you like them.

Unless these stages took the same amount of time it takes for a tree to grow now in Minecraft (an ingame day or two, sometimes 3) I'd be fine with it. This idea, overall though, sounds quite inconvenient. It would look sweet, but wouldn't be fun to live with. This is just my opinion. Also, please consider adding more detail to the post so we can discuss this idea further.

I'm happy with talking about it and making this idea better and better! :)

All major Management positions have been filled, but I'd love to chat with you :)
    Added you.

Sorry for the inconvenience, the discord link has been updated. Looking forward to seeing you there!

    ---------------------------

Our team has been slowly taking shape - lots of new people seem to be joining willing to help! Applications & Interviews may be a bit slow-paced, but please bear in mind things are moving fast and workflow is constantly increasing! We'll get to each and every one of you in a timely manner, we promise!

I'd like to welcome Owen and Kevin to the team, who will be handling Staff Management and Community Management duties respectively.

We are currently looking to assemble some smaller sub-teams to work on the following aspects of the project:

    - Quest Designers / Storytellers - Love reading books? Or maybe you hate reading books, but are good with idea brainstorming? Sounds like something you could do ;)

    - Builders - Think you got what it takes? Or, are you willing to work & get what it takes? Then this might interest you!

    - Social Media Managers - If player interaction and communication is more of your thing, well... Voila!

If you think there's something you could lend us a helping hand with, we'd love to take you on-board! See you on our Discord!

That's great! I probably wont apply for a position, but I'll for sure stay and play when the server releases. Good luck! :)

posted a message on What if Character Creator included in Java Edition Launcher?

As hurnerjsger_ said, no. Probably not. This would make for some weird new skin shapes, so for Minecraft servers it would impact PvP (and a lot of other game-modes), and you'd have to hit on the perfect spot, instead of hitting on blocks; which is arguably better than weird shapes and sizes. It could also straight up be an unfair advantage to other players.

The only way I could see this working is this: In the console editions of Minecraft, in Battle Mini games, people can choose to be a Yoda skin, or anything small like that; so you can zoom around other players feet, giving yourself an unfair advantage for the normal-sized player. But, good thing is, you can turn off the ability for players to have skins like that, that make you smaller and harder to hit. If Character Creator was added into Minecraft Java, it would somewhat work out if servers had the ability for that.

However, still seems inconvenient and I don't think it'll be added. But, there's always a chance! - I mean, I don't work at Mojang. How would I know? >.>

That doesn't mean that Mojang will update them in the way that they want them to be - as in actually changing the terrain generation, not just adding some silly pointless features (likewise, if Mojang ever adds the fabled cave update it won't interest me if all they do is add some new mobs and ores, not actual changes to caves themselves, which were heavily nerfed in 1.7, and even then they probably wouldn't make them the way I like them).

This is also a major reason why I've never updated past 1.6.4 myself, instead using my own modding abilities to create my own vision of the game, just the way that I like it (which I see as a separate version of the game, not just a "mod" for 1.6.4). Try finding biome and terrain generation like this in 1.7 or later (note the number of different biomes near each other and mountainous terrain in more than just Extreme Hills (when people say that Beta 1.7.3 terrain was superior they are referring to things like mountains in most biomes, not just one or two "mountain" biomes). This was was also created with the first version of TMCW, which has had 3 major updates since then):

These are zoomed-in renderings of various mountainous regions; only the first one is an actual Extreme Hills biome:

Yeah, I'm aware they wont change to be massive realistic mountains, even though they did say they'd make them spikier and have "dramatic views". I, personally, am not too excited for the terrain generation but excited for the feature of snow you can fall into - to create adventure maps this is a great idea. All I know is that mountains are somewhat changing, even if it changes one or two things, it's an update nonetheless and I'm excited for it. I was just stating that they will, in at least one way, be improved. Very interesting though!

The old mountains of Minecraft, before those ugly stone patches were added and they ruined the world generator... before 1.7, hills and mountains were nice, but after 1.7, extreme hills biomes became super ugly, plagued with stone and with ugly plateaus instead of hills...

I also enjoyed the old graphics and music, before that got ruined too.

Well that's good you hate the mountains because they're going to update them soon heh... also, i think the music's stayed the same?

Yea i posted an idea like this back in May. I think after cats got an update, wolves/dogs should have been next to get one. Kinda weird not to do that when so many players love dogs as much as cats

Sorry I didn't see your idea that you posted! And yeah true :)
