posted a message on Trouble with 4k

So, I bought myself a new laptop before heading off to college, and it just so happens to have a 4k screen. I have now discovered that Minecraft doesn't like that. While I can run The Witcher 3 in 2k with everything else maxed, I can't play modded Minecraft above 30 fps. Changing video settings does nothing.

Is there any way to make Minecraft run smoothly in 4k? Should I just hook it up to a 1080p monitor?

    Thanks

Hey Forum Browsers, I run a Minecraft server on a custom modpack. We currently have 9 active Youtubers, and I decided that maybe having a few more people would make the experience more fun for all of us :)
We currently are running 98 mods, including Flans, Thaumcraft (plus a few addons), IC2, Thermal Expansion, Witchery, Blood Magic, and many more awesome mods. If you are interested in joining us, post a reply to this topic that includes you skype username, and I will add you to a group for a short interveiw, before we let you on the server.
    Thanks for your time,

posted a message on How do I make a skin for 14w04b?
In the new snapshots, they added a bunch of features to the skins, and I am very excited to use them, however, I cannot find a skin creator compatible with the new snapshots. I know that there is a way, because Etho made a skin using the new features. Can you tell me what he did?

I've discovered 2 new things so far while playing in 0.8.0. Only one is potentially useful.

    1. Neither a minecart, nor a minecart containing an animal will trample hoed ground.

    2. A sheep in a minecart will still eat grass. The grass block takes a little while for it to turn to dirt if eaten by an adult sheep, but if a baby sheep eats it, it becomes dirt instantly. As you can imagine, this could be quite useful. It will allow us to make completely flat signals, or compact uphill signals. Due to the speed that a minecart can travel at, these signals are extremely fast.

Yo man! I can not believe that there are still the original members around!

Well, people are gonna start raging for that massive ...right there, but whatever. We are almost celebrating one year!!

It would be great if this were revived (and if we received a legitimate redstone update).

I think the reason that the post has died is because there haven't been any releases of items or blocks that affect anything, besides maybe cakes.

The title says it all. When building, do you place your door with the indent on the inside, or the outside of your house? Feel free to leave your reasons below.

posted a message on Skins for Minecraft PE (Up and running)
Wow, I'm surprised people still are replying to this. Do not worry guys. I will be getting to this tomorrow. I will take the whole day, and make as many skins as possible. Sorry about the lateness, I've been focusing on my YouTube lately. The uploads have been broken, and I haven't been able to fix them.

    First of all shut up.

Second of all, alienware and other prebuilt "gaming" PCs are a No-go on this forum, build one yourself to appease to JPPK and the other regulars.

Nah. I'm fine with the prebuilt, like I said, I'll probably customise it anyway, and also, I've done a lot of research, and this looks like what I want. Sorry if it's not exactly what you want, but it is after all, my computer XD

I've actually decided to go with the Alienware Aurora r4, and customise it if need be. I have I guy where I live who will sell one to me for a good price.

Do you have any preferences as to the color of the case? black, white red?

Do you have any preferences about which store you would like to buy the parts from?
ie, if you have had some good experience with certain stores or if there are any physical stores nearby rather than ordering online, although I think it will often become cheaper ordering online it's really nice to take a look at the products that will be visible (ie case, mouse, monitor(s), keyboards as well as testing out the speakers in some stores that allow it)

Another thing that I haven't really though of yet is :are you going for a multi-monitor setup?

I live in northern MI. There aren't any places here that I know of where you can buy PC parts. No, I am only using one monitor. I may want a second eventually, but I doubt it. If its going to cost extra, then I don't want it.

Are you planning to buy the components and build it yourself, or will you buy a OEM computer if possible?
There is no point in listing a bunch of components if you will only pick from the computers in the store.

Also will you be playing demanding games as Crysis 3?

I am fine with buying a stock computer, but building it seems like the better way of doing it to me. That way I get exactly what I want the first time. I doubt I'll be playing much Crysis 3. I'm more of an RPG guy. It does look pretty cool though.

You don't really need a whole lot if you will mostly play minecraft, ie no need to get the titan-version of any card at all, even a GT 640 would be way more than you need for minecraft.
Also you do not need an i5, (Crysis 3 is happy with an i3)
8GB RAM is more than enough for Minecraft, but it's nice for multitasking.

EDIT: Also, I'm assuming you will be using Windows? because it is not free. (besides piracy is in no way supported on this forum..)

I am going to play other games, and I would like to play them on good settings, Minecraft is just the priority. I'll be playing ftb mostly also, and that can cause a lot of lag. Also, I will be buying windows if I have too. Hopefully windows 7 if I can get it.
