I highly doubt the mod creator needs someone posting that the MCP is updated. If anything, they probably would look there than at this thread.
That being said, I stumbled upon Optifine about a week or two before 1.8 actually went live. In that time, I grew addicted to all the extra options and custimizations that the mod added on in the options. Honestly, it feels as though most of what's included in this mod should be stuff that Mojang puts in the default game. The fact that one mod is capable of improving pretty much the entire minecraft communities gaming experience really says a lot.
I highly appreciate all the work put into this mod, and looking forward to when it gets updated to 1.8.1 (I can play just fine right now after updating to Java 7), but this mod is just a good addition to go along with it.
Haha I was not doing that for the benefit of the creators, but merely for people who were waiting. More of a 'reassurance'

I just wanna get the base up, build some nice stuff, do some exploring, advancing and automate my base as i progress. I prefer to start my first base on a medium-small island near "Mainland". Easy to light up, no worries about Hostile Mods and enough space to work on. Also i don't feel so lost as i would in for example a forest.

Started in version: 1.1

Mainbase(Pergia) position: X262/Z109 (pretty near spawn)

15.02.2012 - The beginning
I started on Monday so i got quite a bit done all-ready. The island was in about the perfect size. Did the usuall stuff,
Setting up a Workstation...
...a Wheat farm...
...a Tree farm...
...and a Mine
Overview over my little Island
The island was very close to this sandbank from the mainland, i just put in a few sandblocks as there don't spawn anym mobs nearby anyway. I plan on removing this sandbank and build a nice bridge there instead.
So basics where done. Now i allready run out of space so i have to expend the island asap. So i scouted out the neares Desert-biome which will become my sand-mine(as you can see on the map).
cleared out a pathway to the mine in the dense forest.
There is a little river between the desert and the forestbiome,
so after some brainstorming, i started to build a nice little bridge.
That's just the base of the bridge.
Look what i found. I wan't name suggestion! (got a second one later on, so i need two names)
The base if finished, but...
I always forget about the stonebricks. A while since i played Minecraft so i'm not really used to them.
here ya go...
Kinda "primitive" but i like it. Not to medieval, but not to minimal.
So time to get started with the Sandmine(Also a bit Dirtmine since i need a lot of that too)
Probably not the fastest way to do it, but if any i don't lose much time, and it's not as boring as plain digging with the shovel.
Got quite a bit of sand out of that.
Time to put it too use.
And there i run out allready. But you get the idea of the next upgrade for the island.
My plans are to put a nice large Main-building on the part that i'm about to extend, and then maybe some branches of to a nice house, and maybe a lighthouse. And definitely a bridge to that second island father out. Ofcourse i will do much more, and also start building all around the map. And deffinelty somekind of infrastructure. Probadly minecartbased. I have seen a very fast piston based are mostly way yo expensive or slower.
From my readers i would like to have all feedback possible. But for this entry i especially need:
The big ? represents the large Island + my island and the small one out in the sea. We could call it a little continent.
Then i of course need a name for my Island/base and the other one.
And most important names for my two dogs.

23.02.2012 - First short trip to tha Nether
... and some words about the upcoming 1.2 update at the bottom
Sorry for the long wait, but i had some technical and personal problem's^^
First of i updated the map with the names. All the names are suggestion's from "Footontable", thank you very much for that. The P-21 stands for Pathway-21.
I also named the dogs:
Sparky (as suggested by "Footontable")
and Frodo (as suggested by "22cruel")
Further on i continued my work on expanding the island.
And i expendet the dirt/grass. Looks pretty natural eh? gave me more sand to
My food and tool chest, i need mushrooms, NAOW!

As i couldn't find any red mushrooms nearby, i decided to make a portal and try my luck in tha Nether ^^ Here you see the inside of the branch mine (first time i think?)
Took some time...
I digget out the portal room halfway between the branchmine and the sureface so i don't have to hear the annoying portalsounds.
And here we go!
Pretty open, i don't like that but what's that?
Easy access glowstone ! I spare most of it untill i get a fortune or silk-touch enchantment.

Ok so the thing is, that upcoming 1.2 kinda limits me. As far is i know i need to create a completely new world to get the new jungle-biome. My island is easy to make a schematic from and paste in a new world. Dunno but i guess the world generation will not be changed to much, so if i use my old seed i still get the old terrain, but maybe that seed won't generate jungles ?
Anyway because of 1.2 i'm not very motivated to do much outside my island. And well to build my base i need more resources and also i maybe want to use the new upside-down stairs. Using the snapshots on this World is out of question for me, they just to risky and many features are just removed again in the next one.
I would like some opinions regarding my questions and concerning to the 1.2 update and of course any question and feedback you have.
03.03.2012 - 1.2 and big plans...
The last days before 1.2 i didn' do to much except for digging:
And expanding my island once more^^
Then 1.2 came, i waited a few days so now i am on 1.2.3 .I did a little edit with NBTedit so now jungle biomes should generate, i hope ^^. Today i made a little wheat farm again...
...and then found some sheep, because even tho im still not 100% sure about the design i know i need a lot of wool.
Its all just very basic and meant to just produce wool fast.
Ok so as building the base is still the main task, a lot of other small things are involved. Caving being one of them, also a lot of other stuff. Its pretty bad that MCEdit will probably take a while to update, kinda hard to brainstorm/prototype in my testworld without it. My though is to have 1 big building, modern/futuristic looking. It's my mainbase so i need it to be somewhat organized. But it's really hard to build something like that without it looking boring/ like crap in MC.
I would love to get some inspirations from you guys, be it RL or MC examples. Because this really gives me headache^^
04.03.2012 - Nether invasion and a deadly circle of depending on blaze-rods
Today i made very good progress. Don't even now where to start^^ we just follow the snapshots i took.
I worket on my simple woolfarm version 1.0. Three cells (2x4) with each 3 sheeps. placing water source blocks at one end to collect the wool.
Now one of my first goals for now is, a simple blaze(xp) farm, so i can start enchanting. So finding a Nether fortress was the next thing todo...
it took a while, (i was at lazy taking pictures) but atlast i found it
And here we go two blaze spawners. For now i leave them alone. I hope i find some netherwards...
ended up with 43 netherwards
Now i wanted to dig a little tunnel back to my portal. Plans are to extent it and build a minecart track in it.
Ran out of material, run back and get more

After getting some more cooble from the overworld i just aswell can start to build my base, so i have somekind of safe place here
And then i continue my tunnel

Back at the overworld i did some small stuff. A punkinfarm
...and a snowfarm
Then i headed back again to loot some netherbrickstuff
... and a netherwardfarm.
Because building a diagonal minecartbridge is a pain i redid some parts of the pathway
Back in the overworld i automated my wheat and wool farm a bit more and plantet some sugarcane in preperation for an enchantmend table.
Ok to get that strait, to get an xp farm going i want a blaze farm, to get a blaze farm going i need fire reisistent potion, both for the potion and the brewingthingy i need tokill blaze. And that's kind of hard without fire resistans. So now i build a temporarly chickenxp farm to get some fireresistant enchanmen. These are the moments i miss Alpha ^^
Ok that was all from today. i'll check spelling later, this update took very long time to make. Gonna hollow the slime chunk i found in my branch-mine tomorrow
Stuff to put on Pergia (mainbuilding):
-Main-work area containing main storage, furnaces, brewing, enchanting.
-Entrance to branchmine
-Eventually an Xp-farm(depending on what source-mob i choose)
- natural"branch" to a nice modern House

If iron is found in 0.55% of rock and gold in 0.11% of rock, then iron is 5 times more common.
If one powered rail is enough to carry you 64 blocks, then you need one powered rail for every 64 normal rails which means you need 64 times the amount of iron.
So if you find 5 times more iron then gold, but need 64 times more iron, then by dividing (64÷5=12.8) we can find that you have around 13 times more gold then you need. That isn't even counting the iron you would need for tools and all the other uses of iron. So I will say this, and be very clear:

Well your math is a little off.
You get 16 sections of track for the 6 iron and only 6 sections of track for the 6 gold.
So each iron block is worth 2.6666 sections of track
(64/2.6666)/5 = 4.8
So your going to have 5 times more gold then Iron.

I think you should've made the creeper face inset, instead of blocks like that, and used shading to your advantage, as it looks better than just dropping a black material on the shape. The brushes look like complete crap, sorry they look extremely amateur.

Yeah I understand what you mean...
The whole point of my post was that the creeper render was soooo nice looking... Minecraft has a reputation of being 'clean' and that render is exactly that.... without the brushes :tongue.gif:
Just my feeling.
Wish I could learn more with C4D, but windows 7 is hardly supported by it. I get to use it very rarely.
Thanks so much means alot. Ill post the original C4D picture on here before I added the brushes. And if you really want proof I made it I can make a speed art or I could take a screenshot of my C4D screen right now, but i really dont think thats necessary. Alright lemme post up the clean version.

Thanks for your feedback! No i made this ALL by myself man. I hate when people think that I didn't do something I did, I made the original creeper with blocks in cinema 4D, added a floor, a couple lights, some shadows, global illumination, ambient acclusion, then rendered it in Full 1080 HD, then i imported the PNG into photoshop and added some brushes. Thanks for the feedback man :biggrin.gif: Heres some other work ive done in C4D because people want me to make them stuff on youtube:
