Hi guys, if I loaded a world before the AoA update, when I update this mod, will the portals to the newest dimension will appear or do I have to create another to go to thene dimensions?

If I'm understanding you correctly, you should be fine updating with that loaded world. You don't go to the dimensions through multiple portals (although it used to be like this), instead there's just one portal that changes to the different dimensions depending on the realmstone you use on it.

Anyway, I found that Magickes drop the Haven realmstone too after running into a bunch guarding a Goalby (which I was going after because I thought it was the only mob that could drop the realmstone). You don't know how many Magickes I've ignored because I thought they just dropped coins, I'm going to go update the wiki now so nobody else needs to go through that.

Oh wow thank you very much for this find. I also ignored Magickes

That is a very nice suggestion. Hopefully XOlova sees this.

I actually tampered with this for a long time and figured out how to make this compatible with Project Zulu's tombstones. What you need to do is to go into Project Zulu's config and turn on the tombstones (obviously), and then use the gamerule keepAllInventory true, and for some reason that works. Still doesn't work with any other gravestone mod though.

With the new update Project Zulu's tombstones doesn't work, as well as any other gravestone mod. Even with the keepNoInventory gamerule true. The gravestones show up, its just the items aren't put in the gravestone.

Can anyone tell me how to find Goalbies? I'm in the extreme hills and can't seem to find any. Do they only spawn underground?

Then an upgrade won't do anything anyways. If you were in needed of an upgrade for better performance, your usage should be closer to 80% or higher, signifying that your hardware has to work hard to keep up with it's workload. Since that is not the case, I'm guessing the mods you're using just aren't resource efficient. Is that your usage when playing the CaptainSparkle's mod you talked about as well? If that mod doesn't put a significant load on your hardware and still gets bad performance, it's just a problem with poor software. Plus, some mods just work better on certain brands of graphics cards as well, which could be a problem. Any mods you aren't able to play yet without upgrading, check to see what kind of hardware people are having the most trouble with. Sometimes you may see more problems with AMD graphics cards, or more problems with Nvidia graphics cards.

Well CaptainSparklez isn't a mod, he is a youtuber and currently he is doing a minecraft web series with a ton of mods. He is able to play all these mods lag-free, and I'm trying to find out what part of his system is allowing him to do this.

    Hello,
It depends on what type of Mod's you are going to run, If its a simple mod like 'Builder' then most probably no,
But its up to you I'd suggest searching up what Mod's you want and how much: Memory, Ram. You are going to need

I've been wanting to have most of the mods from Direwolf's 20 FTB pack in addition to tropicraft (which requires the weather mod), the orespawn mod, mo' creatures and maybe a few small others. This would be something very similar to CaptainSparklez 'Ultra Modded Survival' series and he is able to run a ton of mods like these while recording without much issue and I'm wondering how him and other youtubers do it.

    Quote from cosmicthing2

It would make it less 'laggy' but I can't really tell you how much, what kinda fps are you getting at the moment? I can tell you that I'm currently using the Resonant Rise modpack (~200 mods) and I'm getting about 50-60 fps.

I could run maybe half of the mods from Resonant Rise on around 60fps. My fps stays stable until im at a certain amount of mods.

Here is a rough list of what I'd like to run:

    NEI
    Biomes O' Plenty
    Orespawn
    Galacticraft 2
    Mo' Creatures
    Tropicraft
    The Mists of Riov
    Hardcore Ender Expansion
    Twilight Forest
    Tinkers Construct
    Forestry (more bees, magic bees)
    Mariculture
    Industrial Craft 2
    Buildcraft (thermal expansion)
    Iron Chests
    Applied Energistics
    Ender Storage
    ChickenChunks
    Project Red
    Thaumcraft
    Extra Utilities
    Factorization
    MineFactory Reloaded
    Gravity Gun
    Portal Gun
    WAILA
    Backpacks
    ComputerCraft
    Damage Indicators
I could run maybe half of those but at a certain point of adding them I get unstable frames (one second 60fps, next second 3fps) along with shutting down internal server, etc.

What's your case? What's the exact model of your power supply?
Are you going to be playing other games or just Minecraft? Because your current system should be fine for Minecraft.

    Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160
    Power Supply: http://www.amazon.com/OCZ-ModXStream-Modular-Performance-compatible/dp/B001EYV690

I don't play much now besides minecraft, sometimes I play left 4 dead 2 or halo 2 PC but they run fine

What component is put under more stress while playing Minecraft? If your CPU is being used more, upgrade that. If your GPU is being used more, upgrade that. If they're both being heavily used, you can upgrade both of them. CPU usage can be checked with task manager and GPU usage can be viewed in AMD's graphics control panel. It will either be called Catalyst Control Center or something like Vision Engine Control Center.

My GPU usage is around 25% while playing modded minecraft and my CPU usage is around 40%

First of all, do not upgrade to a "K" processor, whatever you do. They are for overclocking and you cannot overclock with your motherboard.
    1. We need a budget. Personally I'd say that a graphics card update would be more important.
    2. i5 for sure. The i7 has lousy price/performance.
    3. They are, but as I said above, they are intended for overclocking and you cannot overclock on that board.

Thank you for the help, I can afford upgrades up to around $500
So it would be best to get an i5 (if not a K, what would be best?) and a better graphics card? Any suggestions on that?

I actually already posted this in the 'Modded Client Support' section, but figured I'd get more help here:

Last year I build my own PC and just recently got into modding. I can run a reasonable amount of mods on max settings without lag, but I would like to be able to run more (like CaptainSparklez Ultra Modded Survival amount).
I currently have an Intel i3-3220 dual core (http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819116775) with this LGA1155 motherboard: (http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813131835)
I was debating on upgrading to either an i5-3570K quad core (http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819116504) or an i7-3770K quad core (http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819116501).
Both of these CPUs have the same socket type as my motherboard, but I'm not sure if there is anything else that needs to be checked for compatibility.
    Basically my big questions are:
    1. Would upgrading my CPU create a more lag-free heavily modded minecraft or do I need to upgrade something else too?
    2. Would the i5 or i7 be a better choice? (or maybe even a different one?)
    3. Are these CPUs compatible with my motherboard?

    Thank you for any help

    Additional specs:
MSI R7770 Radeon HD Graphics card
    600W Power Supply
    8GB RAM (DDR3 1600)
    120GB SSD Hard Drive

    Okay everyone, listen up.

I've been thinking the past few days about just.. you guys, and my mods, and stuff...

I just needed a break. You all seem to be great people, even the people that insulted me, too.
Okay, so: I'm coming back. I'm working on RioV only. This is my main mod. I love this mod, and Minecraft modding has taken up nearly 2 years of my life. So... why not more? I love you all, and thank you for all the kind responses. So... with that said, who is excited for a 1.7.2 beta version of the mod in a couple of days? It might be an alpha, not sure.

    Extremely happy to hear this.
And can I suggest maybe mages not having the ability to light blocks on fire? I like wood houses, but I don't like wood houses on fire (:
