Okay guys, MeddleAPI v1.0.6 is up. This isn't a critical update, you can still play 15w45a without it, but you won't get the main menu branding.

The reason why you'll probably want to upgrade to v1.0.6 however is that it includes a patch to force Minecraft to update the crafting recipe output to clients. This means server-side-only crafting recipes should work just fine from now on. I tried it with the Heavy Axe from a vanilla client and had no problems. If you see anything odd happen while crafting as a result though, let me know.

Mappings may not exist yet to make that work efficiently, but there may be someone willing to take up the challenge!

So i've thought about my suggestion of held torches emitting light, and maybe with the current mappings (i don't know anything about mods so hopefully i'm right about this) it would be possible by adding an invisible non-solid block with no hitbox named "itemlight" that emits light, that would be set inside the players head when a torch is held, and wich would automatically be destroyed when it's not inside a player holding a torch. Could that be possible?

Could you maybe make a dynamic lighting mo that makes held torches emit light? It would work very well with the 1.9 off-hand and it would be a really nice little mod :)

posted a message on Do you think pvp will die in 1.9?

Pvp in 1.9 is far from dead, a lot of people who don't like 1.9 pvp haven't even tried it out. I myself have some experience and thus will i defend 1.9.

So here are the arguments anti-1.9-ers have:

    1. it's too slow

    2. dual wielding is too different

    3. there are way too many features

    4. Everybody is used to spamming, why change?

    5. I do not like challenges and i only want to play easy-to-learn games

    here are my counter arguments:

    1. So at first you would think: 1.9 is slow, because you have to wait between hitting, and no game does that, well almost every game out there has the mechanic of attack speed, and that's because you cannot make combat a just simply spamming, and maybe some other simple things like fishing rods :( it would be boring and repetitive. Maybe you would think that it takes more time to kill someone now, that is also false, because if you time your hits right, you hit the opponent just as fast as entities take damage in pre-1.9, not slower, but more tactical instead. Also the attack speed stat allows for weapon veriety, as you could make some weapons have more attack damage, but less speed.

    2. You don't have to dual wield or something, it's just an extra option that allows for more tactics in weapon choice, you could for instance dual wield a shield and sword, but also a bow and sword, ore put some food in your left hand :)

    3. A lot of new content isn't really a bad thing, there's not a lot to say about it, minecraft is just bigger, and has more things to discover.

    4. Because most people do not like mindlessly spamming away in their free time, it hurts your fingers, and i really didn't like Pve in pre-1.9 because it's boring and repetitive.

    5. Stop whining and start living, something that's not challenging, and that doesn't really have a lot of depth or veriety is just plain boring :)

does it require optifine or mc patcher ?

It doesn't require it but it's recommended... It surely makes the pack more of an experience, and it improves the pack.

Please don't make the sunlight have a yellow tint. Everyone wants to have yellow sunlight because it looks cool, but consider how Minecraft's lighting system works: it's subtractive, not additive. If your sunlight tone is ANYTHING but pure white, you will be darkening everything in the game, and by quite a noticable bit in some cases. And besides; IRL, sunlight is not yellow, it's pretty much plain white until sunset comes.

-Also, having a strong tint on torchlight (although kinda cool looking) is a very bad idea in the long run. When you're underground (and let's face it, a LOT of our time in the game is spent underground), having everything drenched in orange will (1:) reduce the range of hues you see overall, which can be bad news for colorful underground builds, or anything that relies on manufactured light to be seen, and (2:) strain on one's eyes and become quite unpleasant to look at after spending lots of time underground. Try using white with just a bit of orange added, no more than 50%.

Sorry, I don't mean to bash your work or anything. As someone who's made around 50 different lightmaps in my pursuit of creating a "perfect" one, it annoys me to no end that some packs (Pixel Reality: Luminance for example) have these issues and yet claim to be 'realistic' or 'better than vanilla'.

I think the pack actually looks great with the yellow sunlight, it makes the world more colorful and sunny. Also i reeeaaly like the trchlight, it maybe makes caves a bit darker, but it's meant to be COOLER and not "better for building" in my opinion the pack would be much worse if the lighting would be removed, but that's just my opinion..
