There's actually a patch currently available for the cutemobmodels mod.
It doesn't seem to do anything but allow the first line of dialogue to play. Then again, I was having trouble getting past the first line of dialogue for any of them without the CMM mod...
I noticed that a couple of the monster girl types, particularly the creeper girl, had no real difference from normal. I dunno about the rest, but for the creeper girl, maybe you could differentiate her by giving her a slightly weaker explosion, but one that doesn't kill (or hurt) her when used?
So, will your friends attack hostile mobs, or try to defend you or anything? (Creeper aside, since she can't attack without dying... unless there's a way to change that for Cupa?)
I think it'd be pretty neat if the mobs actually responded to your current physical condition, i.e. if you were low on health, they'd be worried about you.
So, um... what am I doing wrong? I try talking to them, and it technically works, but they just give their default line, then resume trying to murder me...
EDIT: ...Do I have to find a specific one to talk to?
I was looking for a way to enable the main character's voice to be changed without immediately reverting, because hearing that deep man-voice come from a skin to make your character into
this is several kinds of jarring. Needless to say, I was quite frustrated when I found only 1 mod that fit the bill and then discovered that another mod, the freerunner mod, had an update with incompatible features with the gender mod. So I was wondering, why hadn't somebody created a mod that allows for a different file to be loaded for the voice? And no, AudioMod doesn't count; I'm talking about a mod that makes the file ALWAYS load in place of the voice file, not just on occasion.
In addition, along with the mod, an option to add a different voice clip for dying. (If you don't want the option, you'd just make the 2 voice files the same.)
This post is win. If sea doesn't respond, i'll make him, as this is one of the few intelligent posts on this thread. You actually read the thread, and didn' ask stupid questions. i applaud you.
I appreciate the respect, but sadly, I don't expect much in the way of a response anyhow.
Out of curiosity, why exactly do people want a GUI system over a direct control system? Personally, I think the direct control system would both work a lot better and hold much more true to the original Pokemon. It's true that you can't control your dude and your pokemon at the same time, but think about it. Let's be honest here; Minecraft AI is stupid, no matter how hard you try to program it not to be. You think you've got everything down, but you missed one tiny detail, and now wolves are charging into the lava like lemmings, or a certain female companion tries to melee creepers. It simply wouldn't be able to handle all the stuff involved in a full-fledged battle without being an idiot. Anyone who's played Emerald and tried to complete the, um, I think it was the Battle Castle in the Battle Frontier knows how frustrating it is having the computer wrench control of your pokemon out of your hands. And do you want your pokemon screwing everything up because the computer is an idiot, then having the far-superior-to-you pokemon then turn to you and start mauling your face off? And on top of that, can you say you haven't wanted to play as something that has powers like shooting streams of fire or creating tidal waves? Can you?
Oh, and a message to Sea: after getting a close look at the Charmander model, I have a couple of suggestions on how to make it look more like the real thing. I'd try to do it myself, or at least sort of give a general idea, but I can't even figure out how Turbo Model Thingy is supposed to open... I'm sorry if it seems like I'm acting like I'm belittling your work; I swear to god I'm not. I'm just trying to offer suggestions on how to make them look better. And I'm sure there's more to it than what I'm saying, and I'm just making myself look like a total ass, so feel free to beat me upside the head and flame me all you like for being a douche or whatever. Just please keep in mind that I'm not trying to be a douche, okay? :sad.gif:
1) If you do nothing else, make its body thinner make the torso shorter, but lengthen the legs a little.
2) I don't know the capabilities of this Turbo Model Thingy thingy, but if it's possible, make the tail look a bit thicker at the base.
3) Make the snout a little shorter.
4) Add the torch top thing to the tip of Charmander's tail, if you can. Again, I dunno if that's possible. I don't know about any of this Minecraft coding bullshittery.
5) Make the arms less pinned against the sides.
6) If you really want to go all-out and push the Model Thingy to its limit, if it can handle this, make the tail look rounded and bent (maybe use an angled rectangle between the parts of the tail?), round the head, and round out the stomach & sides/between the legs. This is the Charmander picture I referenced.
I haven't gotten a chance to look at the Squirtle or Bulbasaur models properly. (What did you set the spawn rates on those things to, 1%? Sheesh!) I also haven't seen any evolved pokemon. However, from the screenshots, I can offer some advice on Squirtle.
1) Lower the front of the shell down by one pixel... unit... thingy.
2) Extend the sides of the shell out a little, and make them more rounded.
3) Round out the back of the shell a LOT more.
4) Instead of rectangles that are pressed against its sides for the arms, use rectangles that are extended forward.
5) Extend the head out in front of the shell. And for Squirtle, you have GOT to round the top, sides, and back of the head out somehow. (Front of the head stays flat because that would screw up the face.)
6) Extend the legs out towards the sides of the shell a bit more. Here's a Squirtle reference.
For Bulbasaur, I can't really get a good view of the details, but from what I can see...
1) The bulb is too small by far.
2) He needs bigger eyes.
3) The body needs to be angled more upwards, a bit like a frog. More references; here's the Bulby I looked at.
The Pidgey model looks absolutely fabulous. I am a bit disconcerted by the fact that it appears to have no pupils, however.
I was gonna say that the health system needs to be balanced, but apparently that's in the works already.
Are the base stats from the actual game going to come into play? Like, is Charizard going to have high Special Attack and Speed compared to average pokemon, and is Mewtwo going to have stupid high Special Attack?
Oh wow... Who let the drama llama loose in here? Ugh. Just everyone calm down and stop fighting. I don't see what the fuss is about. If he's not going to tell, he's not going to tell. Arguing about it isn't going to change anything; it's just going to make you look like a fool in the end, especially when your arguments consist more of slinging insults than actually making solid points.
I imagine sea is most definately going to incorporate differences in HP, attack and speed.
Also, Certain pokemon will be able to learn certain HMs, and ALSO pokemon skills (moves) are most probably gonna be implemented. So, of course, there will be differences in the power and PP of the attacks as well :biggrin.gif:
Well... I was more talking about, erm, the full-blown stat system out of the Pokemon games, hehe. :happy.gif:; See, I'm a competitive pokemon battler, so I know a lot of the inner workings of the mechanics; I was just referring to the most blunt ones here.
-HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, Speed. I'm assuming you know how the attacking and defending stats match up Also, will we be able to see a numerical value for our pokemon's HP?
-Another question. Will Speed only affect movement speed, or will it also affect how quickly the pokemon can attack?
-STAB, or Same Type Attack Bonus. Basically, if an attack matches the type of the pokemon using it, it's a lot more powerful (150%, to be exact). A Flamethrower or a Wing Attack from a Charizard would be a lot stronger than from a Machamp. (Yes, Machamp can learn Flamethrower by TM. I don't question it, and you shouldn't either, because you'll just hurt your head.)
-Hell, the concept of types to begin with. Will Thunderbolt be super effective on Pidgey? Will Flamethrower barely hurt Ponyta? Will a rock attack completely and utterly rape Charizard?
-Status effects. Poison, paralysis, burn, sleep, freeze, confusion, flinching. Will any of that be included, let alone all of it?
I know it seems like a lot... I dunno how hard things like this are to code in the Minecraft engine, as I have no experience at all with it. However, if you want someone to help with converting all this crap into the Minecraft world, I'd be more than happy to help out. If there's any way I can help make this project a thorough, in depth, and all-around excellent mod, I want to help. Hell, I'd offer to join the programming team if I had any knowledge of the Minecraft engine. (I do have ideas for some moves already.)
Next thing I wanted to ask about is what you brought up in the poll. I'm gonna ask questions from the standpoint of each option.
"Give orders to the pokemon Via GUI or something similar":
-Exactly how much control will we have over our pokemon's actions? So far, I've not been impressed with Minecraft's capability to handle AI, no matter how skilled the programmer... Will the pokemon be choosing its own moves? Will it decide how aggressive to be, or where to attack from? Is it going to run into a pool of lava or rush headfirst at a creeper unless you tell it not to? Is it going to do that even IF you tell it not to?
-Exactly what kinds of commands do you have in mind? Like, "Run away, use ranged attacks, rush in" and things like that? Will you be able to use some kind of item to direct its movement somewhat during combat?
-How will the AI choose targets? Will you tell it what target to choose, say by picking from a list of hostile mobs within range? (pulling the list up with a certain key, changing targets with designated up and down keys)
"Take full control of the pokemon and control its movements and attacks":
-What happens to the Minecraft dude during this? Are you going to be able to control him too, or is he going to be left helpless? Will he be taken over by an AI that's instructed to run away from hostile mobs or something?
-If you can still control him, whose viewpoint will you be watching from, and how will you be controlling essentially 2 screens at once in a game that requires the mouse?

EDIT: Wait, no, it's happening even after uninstalling the Cute Mob Models.

Caterpie also looks great, but where's its antenna thing? Or was I just not paying attention? The red thingy, whatever the hell it's suppsed to be. XD
