posted a message on Merge with Roblox

I'm fine the P2W aspect of ROBLOX, and I like the "sandboxieness" of Minecraft. It is also true that both games have some similarities, but they also have major differences. When making a Place on ROBLOX you use code. Some might say, "Well Minecraft has command blocks!" Yes they do, but ROBLOX uses an entirely different coding language than Minecraft does (ROBLOX=Lua, MC=Java I believe). The next thing is, MC isn't P2W (not counting multiplayer, while ROBLOX has memberships such as the three tiers of Builders Club. A third difference is ROBLOX has a virtual currency, Robux (R.I.P. Tix), while MC has trading with emeralds. For these reasons MC should not merge with ROBLOX.

THanks for the support! My first suggestion! However I think the teleportation for the armour would become tiresome quickly.

    Fair point.

Wow. My favorite suggestion for new tools and such. I like the ideas for the tools however for the armour it doesn't really have much use. How about if you are wearing full ender armour the player/mob has a 25% chance of getting teleported in a 10 block radius of you when hitting you.

If there is one thing that has become apparent, it's that Minecraft is more of a living, evolving product rather than a static end goal. Microsoft would not have dumped the enormous sums of money into a technological dead end. You might be laughing at the idea now, but I bet amplified mode is just a preview of things to come. Bigger is almost always better from the user's perspective, players have a natural and observable inclination to set their graphics settings to the limits of their hardware. There is no reason to believe that this trend will not continue. I know for a fact that the scale of the procedural generation is directly correlated to the processing limitations in the hardware itself, you don't have to be a Mojang employee to figure that out.

It has been three years since amplified was added. Based off of this observation, Mojang is only going to do this once. Also how could those mountains be even larger. Some go up to build height. Next you can not speak for everyone saying that everyone set their options to the limits. Have you taken a poll? I think not.

It sounds so cynical when you put it like that. It's not like there aren't already a bunch of separate, sole use items in Minecraft. (Milk, music discs, rabbit hides, poisonous potatoes, etc) It seems like a waste to make elytra available when most players are either burned out, or close to being burned out on the game. It enhances amplified world types SO MUCH, while it's usefulness at the End seems limited. A lot of games are defined by the character's mobility in the game. Bionic Commando is an excellent example of this. A lot less people would have liked Bionic Commando if it had taken a week to get the grappling hook. A better example would be Super Metroid or Castlevania Symphony of the Night, where you are progressively increasing your mobility throughout the game. With Minecraft it's like... Before elytra = severely limited mobility, after elytra = near ultimate mobility. It's a huge contrast and not necessarily one that should be introduced at the end of the game.

I guess you made your point with the poisonous potatoes, but those are just four items. Adding seven items because you are lazy? Nah. Also not all new modes of transportation are liked in other games. There was so much hate for the double jumps in CODBO3 (especially from the YT community).

@laserguy345 Agreed, the Elytra should be hard to get. But making it one of the very last things you can possibly get is kind of annoying. It should be possible to obtain them without going to the end I think. I think it would be neat to have crafting ingredients that can only be found in 7 separate biomes, forcing the player to go on an epic treasure hunt to make them. But I guess the current way of getting them is cool too. It guarantees the player is unable to get them quickly, as you say.

So you want to introduce seven separate items, solely for the purpose that you don't want to g o to the End? The End usually takes me personally a week to get there. But without any other purpose for said items, why have them at all?

I have once. I jumped off a cliff at around 200 blocks. It took a long time finally get to the ground. I really enjoyed maneuvering around the giant mountains. I would also like to say, they made the Elytra so hard to get because, like you said, it is game changing. If you get it within the first 30 minutes of spawning in the world, you would have the easiest way to get around, which would be unbalanced. The game is all about balance although nothing can ever be perfectly balanced. Just think, you go into your first cave of that world, and you find a dungeon with an Elytra in it (let's hypothetically say you could find them there). That wouldn't be right would it?

This is something I would really like to see. I can think of a few more uses.

    -Lighting players on fire

-Change player attributes precisely e.g. reducing max health by 1 heart, adding 1 to base damage

    -Change a player’s hunger/breath level

Or, by adding more player-specific data tags:

    -Forcing a player to sneak

-Force a player into third person (or first person) pov

-Change a player’s render distance BELOW THE MANUALLY INPUTTED VALUE e.g. decrease render distance from 32 to 2, then later changing it to 16

    -Change a player’s FOV

    -Hide player GUI

    -Prevent sleeping

    -Prevent interaction with blocks

-Prevent certain actions, such as swimming and climbing ladders

    -Detect keyboard input

    Please do not necro threads.
