In the vanilla Minecraft animation method, the frames are always perfect squares and the size is determined by the width of the animation strip. There's no way to specify anything else.

You may be thinking of Optifine's animation method which allows you to define custom areas. That's not covered in this tutorial, though, and would be off-topic. Please feel free to make your own thread asking about it in the Resource Pack Help forum.

    I hope that helps you.

Thanks for your answer, I thought I heard it was possible in vanilla Minecraft too, but as it seams, it's not. Mojang Studios should it add it though.

Hi, it's great, but I heard somewhere else that it is possible to clarify how big the frames are. The ones you used where 16*16, but what if the frames are 32*16? How can I clarify that in the mcmeta file? Thanks for response.

No, Minecraft only supports json models, obj aren't supported. Also the blocks have a rotation limit of 22.5°, so even if you would make it into a json file, you couldn't import it.

But I'm currently working on a resource pack for Minecraft that will probably have simple but 3D rails, and if I may, I will take inspiration from this picture.
