I've been working on a project that allows the user to run MCPE on their Linux PC. It offers a fully automated install and is mostly functional, with a few missing features like Xbox Live sign-in. This is my way of trying to keep Minecraft on Linux alive after they kill off the Java Edition in the long-run.
You failed to mention that this version is exclusively for Ubuntu derivatives. Also it has to be manually updated for each version of mcpe. I had no idea that a project like this existed. I actually thought to do the exact same thing. My version currently calls for getting the dependencies from my wiki, but I plan on adding an automated method for each family of distros in the near future. If you're at all interested, our projects are very similar in operation and goals, and I would love to have more contributors. You can find it here. I provide an apk hosted on my site, but this is mainly a temporary fix for the currently broken Google-Play-API made by MCMrARM.
My project is also available for Arch Linux-based distros in the AUR, as
mcpelauncher-linux
I mainly use the issues page to communicate my goals, and with anyone seeking to contribute, but you can also message me on Telegram or Kik.
