posted a message on Minecraft game file lost?????
I have concluded that it is one or all of these files:
    level.dat
    level.dat_old
    session.lock

Because upon replacing them with another worlds files I can get into my world, but the world is like 2 times larger than it should be. Is there any way to recover or repair those files to their original state that they were before they were corrupted?

posted a message on Minecraft game file lost?????
So my Minecraft game file was evidently lost when my computer shut off due to a power outage... ><
I have checked: %appdata%\.minecraft\saves and my world 1 is still there, and all 12MB (about 1.5 months playing) is still in the World1 folder. It shows up when I go to properties.
I have tried renaming it to the unused worlds that I have, but it isn't working... could I get some help?

Here is the link to the download of my save file. Can you help me please?

    http://www.mediafire.com/?c6ubj1orjogwods

Please I don't want this work to go to waste.... I hope that there is a solution.

Ok, I have no constructive criticism for this thread. I love the idea, and the only quarrel I had was already addressed by Wilks228. So if it was introduced in sections that would be the fix to the only flaw I saw. I hope that Notch sees this :iapprove:
You did a great job seeing this through before posting it. It seems well developed and thought out. Posts like this make me enjoy reading threads. Unlike some not so intelligent posts of people who don't do research. (i.e. People who think their torches are going to go out this next update on the 31st and their house will become a dungeon.) But all things aside 4 thumbs up on your idea. =] :iapprove:

    No.
I don't like this Idea, All it takes is two buckets and a pickaxe to get free health.

    Scoop up lava,
Dig hree square deep pit with steps,
    Jump out.
    Refill steps,
    pour lava,
    pour water,
    Heal.

PLUS Water is easily abundant, and so is lava in the lower sections of the map.

A few easily obtainable buckets and you have healing spots ALL OVER THE PLACE.

plus you can easily move these free EVERLASTING health stations equally as easily and without spending materials.

    -------------------------------

Pigs are now obsolete, you no longer have to worry about having low health, just slap together a pit and you are fully healed.

Hell, what is wrong with you guys, you want the Creeper to be even more annoying to deal with, but want FREE HEALING at the same time.

Man, this thread got me angry, Advil and late-nights do NOT mix.

Wrong. What you just suggested would result in a block of obsidian with water on top of it. No Lava left underneath to heat the spring. Now theoretically, you could create a spring with 2 buckets of lava and 1 bucket of water. This could easily be addressed through a very simple logic:

Have it set so that healing springs are more effective the larger they are, but only on a square basis. So a 1x1 square of lava/lava(which becomes obsidian)/water would result in only healing 1/2 heart every full day cycle that you stay in that water. a 2x2 (6 more buckets of lava are needed) square would heal 1/2 heart twice each day, a 3x3 (10 more buckets of lava) square will heal 1/2 heart 4x each day, a 4x4 (14 more buckets of lava needed) would heal 1/2 a heart 8x each day, etc. If you have a pool that is not perfect square, you will be healed based on the largest square that can be made around the area you are standing.

to provide visual examples, as seen from above (assume 1 obsidian block and 1 lava SPRING block under each square: :Notch: = where the player is standing
:Notch:(currently covering the water) = 1/2<3 per day healed

    :Water: :Water:
:Water: :Notch: = 2x 1/2<3 per day healed

I'm challenging your view on obsidian only hotsprings, sure there's lava on the bottom that should be remelting the obsidian, but there's water on top to keep at least that top layer cool. Plus in Minecraft, obsidian doesn't get melted by lava, so it's a moot point.

I realize that the lava does not melt the obsidian, and that the water would keep it from melting completely. But then what happens to all of the water with a heat source so huge beneath it. Eventually (In real life) you would run out of water. If that was the case in the game that would help balance it out greatly. have a source block of water last only a day above a source of lava. That way it would help balance it out. Not completely, but still enough to make this idea feasible. Also if the player wants to make a spring. he would not need 2 buckets of lava. You are forgetting about obsidian. if you place a block of lava followed by a block of obsidian you can place a block of water to get the desired effect:
    :Water:
    :obsidian:
    :Lava:

Constructive criticism aside , I still do like this idea.

I have to agree with theicychameleon on this topic. it would just be way too overpowered to not lose the bucket. I think the way that it works now is fine. You lose the bucket at the expense of not having to constantly having to place fuel.

What I do is make a water bridge like so:

    [] :Water: :Water: :Water: :wood:
:Water: :cobblestone: :cobblestone: :Water: :Water: :Water:
:Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water:

    :wood: = the boat

The boat can't just randomly float out of your harbor, and it doesn't get destroyed on exit (NOTE : REQUIRES BUCKETS)

That is a good idea, but you can't always make a dock when you are out exploring and your boat gets launched away from you when you get out.

My dock on the other hand (as long as you have a bucket) can be built anywhere.

    [] [] [] [] []
    :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water:
:Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: (side view)
    :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water:
    :sand: :sand: :sand: :sand: :sand:

    :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water:
:Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: (Top View)
    :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water:
    :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water:

you take your bucket and take the 2 blocks of water from both sides of the middle (on the top view) only one layer deep. You need only one bucket to do this, then you place the water anywhere else in the ocean/water and it will merge with the others causing no effect.

    It will look like this:
    [] [] [] [] []
    :Water: [] :Water: [] :Water:
:Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: (Side View)
    :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water:
    :sand: :sand: :sand: :sand: :sand:

    :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water:
:Water: [] :Water: [] :Water: (Top view)
    :Water: [] :Water: [] :Water:
    :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water:

This makes a current pulling the boat in from all sides to the stagnant water source blocks in the middle. so that it will not float away as easily as it normally would.

I agree with GreyAcumen, If the boat is still it should in fact drop a boat if it is destroyed. In motion the boat should drop less than the needed materials to make another boat. How much, I am unsure.

It makes sense. I do like this idea. I just thought that the origional idea would be too overpowered unless tweaked. The steel should be implemented. I think that if obsidian were to be used, that it wouldn't work seeing as how in nature lava re-engulfs obsidian to make new lava. but yet the same can be said about lava and steel too. I just think that it should rarely occur as a natural phenomenon. That way it isn't too reliable, yet it is a nice surprise if you happen to stumble upon one.
    EDIT
    I took out a repetition.

Well, I think needing a workbench to put a boat back together is reasonable. If I was really that interested in boating, I could carry a workbench with me. My only real goal is to prevent the loss of resources from boats being broken.

Personally, I think this could be more easily fixed by making the jump button automatically pop you out of the boat, instead of needing to right click in order to get out of it, pressing sneak while standing on the boat will pull you into the boat, and pressing right click while pointing at the boat will pull it into your inventory.

I agree this is a valid argument, but the thing is the controls for the boat would work completely against everything else. I think that it should break back into the boat just like the minecart does, because in all honesty it is a wooden minecart that goes on the water.

I agree that the physics too should also be changed. that maybe gravity should affect it a little more, or add more friction to it.

I think that if this idea were to make it, that Steel blocks should be used in place of the stone. It would just make a little more sense. Not only that but having a healing room would make the game a little easier, so making it harder to create would be smarter.

I think that this idea is alright at best. I do agree that there needs to be more "decoration" but I think that decorations should just be purely that. Decorations. Not really to serve a purpose in the game. i.e. restore health. Other than that I agree with your idea maybe having more decorations, that if you wanted to build and put in the game you can.

I agree Grey Acumen, Gold is very good as a conductor. It was one of the underlying ideas of this now that I think about that. Powered with Red Stone Dust it would act as a lot of electrical devices do now. Gold is used on almost all electrical chords now days (if it is of high quality that is) and seeing as how it would be connected to the Red Stone Dust, I do not see why it would be impractical. I agree that Furnace run Boosters could be awesome and so could hydro or wind. All of them should be put in the game. Maybe the gold ones (seeing as how it's durability is crap) could degrade after a certain amount of uses to make it more balanced whereas the hydro/wind ones wouldn't and the furnaces would use up coal to power the track every time a cart went over it.
