I agree with Grey. But the thing is, regardless of the design, this idea does need to be implemented. I think a compass that points North constantly is necessary.

I believe Notch has confirmed a sort of Journal where you can transcribe into books. I am not entirely sure, but I will go take a looksie.
I do like this. Maybe the map would just be a topographical map that has one marker where your compass is.

I think that this should be made out of gold simply for the fact that it would be a shaky item. if you died with it it would break because it is a softer metal. This would balance the need for a more rarer material and the overpowering argument that some people make.
    Good?

Why Gold though, wouldn't it make more sense to use iron bars over gold?

The path finding would be the hardest obstacle leap that Notch would have to come across if he did make these "pets" follow you. I like theNakedFanatic's Idea of having to corral certain animals and use Guard dogs to keep them in or other things out. On a side note, why don't enemies attack animals?

posted a message on Minecraft game file lost?????
Thank you very much. I was trying this with another save file that was bigger. But in Minecraft it showed that the save file was the size of the non corrupted world (which was over 2 times larger). I thought it had to be as large as the file. Thank you very much =].

This will effectively turn Minecraft into an FPS, I don't like it, cost doesn't balance it either nor does the damage do enough to neuter it either.

The only one I approve of is poison arrows but only if its effects can be cured or are temporary.

It is cost effective though. Think how hard is it to get the slime balls (and if so how many) and it isn't the easiest to get gunpowder from creepers. a lot of the time they explode before you can kill them.

As for the temporary aspect or cure to the poison, look at the post again. I specifically state 10-30 seconds for the effects of the poison taking a total of 3 whole hearts (just from the poison)

How would this make it an FPS having small exploding projectiles?

posted a message on Exploding Arrows/Poison Arrows
So I have searched for both of these things, and I could not find any Topics on them (correct me if I am wrong) and I think that they should be in the game.

    First off Exploding Arrows:
The thing I have been thinking about is how gunpowder is so similar to the flint, and how the flint when it is used with steel makes fire. So I was wondering why not combine water with gunpowder to make gunpowder paste which then could be applied to arrows?

    :GP:
    :Water:
    [>>-i>] x6
    =
    6 exploding arrows

You would use the bucket of water in the recipe, and you would get the bucket back. It would provide just one more use for the gunpowder to make it useful.
Edit This would be practical because the flint hitting the gunpowder paste would make enough pressure, or even a spark if hitting certain things to set off the arrow. Edit

To balance the explosion for making one gunpowder into 6 exploding mechanisms you would make the explosion from the arrow about 1/6 that of a block of TNT. If it hit the enemy, it would do less damage than the TNT explosion and would not calculate in the 2 damage that arrows normally do.

    Thoughts so far?

    Poison Arrows:

Slime has absolutely no use at the moment. I have been thinking about what it could possibly be used for. I came up with adding the slime to the end of an arrow (like dipping it in a poison) and when fired it would do a total of 6 half-hearts of damage over a small to moderate span of time (like 10-30 seconds) in addition to the 2 damage from the arrow.

    :RedShroom: =Slime
    [>>-i>] x6
    []
    =
    6 Poison arrows

This (because slime are much harder to find than other monsters) would make it balanced allowing you to make a few arrows that were more powerful than the original arrows.

Also skeletons would have a small chance, maybe 3%, of spawning with these arrows and the ends of the arrow would glow red for exploding arrows and green for poison arrows. That way you know whether or not you want to confront the skeleton if you have the choice.

Please I appreciate feedback. Constructive criticism is wanted. =]

posted a message on Deleting Areas so that new map Generates?
Is it possible to delete parts of the map so that a new one generates, I had a problem with my level.dat file, and I replaced it with another accounts', but it added almost 12 MB of map data to my file and I want to remove it. Is there any way that I can delete it, to get only my old map back, like an easy to use editor?
