As fast and effective as Diamond, but uses redstone dust as a fuel to use it.
It's easier to find than diamond, but doesn't have the durability and requires redstone dust as a fuel every time you use it.
I'm still not sure on how much redstone dust it would deplete per use, but i'm thinking something like 5-10 uses per redstone dust.

Dec 15, 2010As we all know, notch will be fixing the ability to drop tools and instantly repair them for free.Posted in: Suggestions
I'm suggesting an alternative, being able to repair tools instead of just having to create new ones each time they get used up.
Simply placing a tool of any ore or gem on a workbench and place a material that the tool is made of will repair the tool to full health.
"Oh no my iron pickaxe is about to break!"
Place your pickaxe and an iron ignot on the workbench and it's good as new!

(where the stick represents the iron pickaxe)
Another somewhat related idea is obsidian tools.
obsidian tools have extremely high durability, (possibly 2x that of diamond) but are only as good as stone for their respective use. (they can mine diamond, redstone and gold however)
Dec 13, 2010having all of the tree's leaves being golden would look a bit too gaudy.Posted in: Suggestions
Perhaps leaving most of the leaf blocks green, but have a golden sapling create 2 or 3 golden leaf blocks.
These blocks would sometimes (40 percent of the time or so) drop golden leafs.
Golden leafs could be applied to tools, chests/furnaces and weapons, giving them a nice golden trim.
also the recipe should be a bit less gold heavy, perhaps just

Dec 13, 2010Personally I feel instead of the introduction of boosters, powered minecarts should be fixed so that one may -latch- minecarts together and build what one might call a train.Posted in: Suggestions
Powered minecarts could be given stacks of coal/wood/etc in a similar interface to that of the furnace, increasing how long a trip may last. (A stack of 64 should last a very, very long time)
They should drive with a moderate speed, mabye 2-3x that of a player's walking speed, but attaching multiple powered minecarts to one train would speed the minecart train up, albeit using more resources.
One other change could be the addition of a track redstone input.
When a minecart/train passes over the specified track, it acts as if a button was pressed or a lever was pulled, allowing for the addition of traps or systems for opening doors for minecarts and closing them after the train has pulled through, preventing mobs from passing through the passageway.
The player should also be able to manually push a minecart, while inside one, though at a very slow pace, which allows the player to push minecarts onto a sloped surface without the chance of losing it.
