posted a message on why is gold more rare than diamonds
Gold ore generates in layers 32 and below, and usually in veins of 4-8 blocks. There is, on average, 8.2 gold ore blocks per chunk.
Diamond ore generates in the bottom 16 layers, usually in veins of 1-9 (so it is possible to get a vein of 1,2, or 3 blocks). There is, on average, 3.097 diamond ore blocks per chunk.

So, gold ore is not rarer than diamond ore, it's just your luck that makes it seem that way to you.

Assuming the mobs are zombies or skeletons, you need to hit them with a healing potion instead of a harming potion for the aforementioned reasons.

-Learn some basic redstone so you can set up semi-automatic farms to save time and hunger in the long run.
-If you're safe from monsters and need one hunger point, eat a spider eye. The natural regen will heal up poison damage and you'll get some nice hunger saturation.

posted a message on Your thoughts on Sunflowers and falling particles?
Real sunflowers face east when mature, so if we can use sunflowers in garden in real life, I'm sure you'll have no problem with them in Minecraft. The falling particles are going to add some immersion to the game, so I welcome them.

Always bring wood (I prefer logs since they take less inventory space in the long run) and a bucket of water with you while caving. Also, remember that one piece of coal smelts 8 blocks, so you don't end up wasting coal once you've gotten settled.

posted a message on Mods Love 'em or hate 'em and why
I'm lazy, so I prefer vanilla with only Optifine since I don't have to download and install all the mods and then Force Update and re-install them all when I screw up the installation of one, but if I can use a mod pack like FTB, then I'll use mods. I also find a lot of the mods to be game-breaking, although that's just my opinion.

posted a message on Why refer to gold as 'butter'? Gold ingots do not look, nor act like butter!
I find people who hate "budder" are just as, if not more, annoying than people who yell "budder". They show up anywhere people say "budder" and say how much they hate "budder" even though is completely unrelated to the topic. You yourself, TVflea, have done this. About halfway down the third page of the "What is the least crafted item?" thread, you mention how annoying you find people who call gold "budder" even before you contributed to the thread and disregard the fact that he was the only one who had called gold "budder" and everyone else had called it gold. Now, you can't have the Sky fans saying "budder" without just as many people arguing with them. Let me put this into perspective: you are mad that kids are calling gold "budder". I repeat, you are mad at kids for calling gold "budder". You don't get mad at them for calling their mother "mom" even though that's not their real name, do you? I see that on your profile it says that you are 15, so its a good guess that you live with at least one of your parents. Do you call your parents by their first names or mom/dad or something similar? If you are on a server, and the majority of the chat are kids saying "budder", then you are clearly on the wrong server for you. Why don't you leave, or turn chat off? No one is forcing you to be reading the chat on the server. In this case, "budder" is a slang word for gold that has been adopted by a certain group of people. Cool is slang for something enjoyable, but I bet you say cool in this sense without thinking about, so why get mad over slang? Do you get mad at people for calling Slabs "Half Slabs"?

    Quote from Frog81

It lets you play offline. You just appear to be doing it wrong.

I disconnected my computer from the Internet to test this, and in order to play offline you need to have logged in at least once and selected Login Automatically or else it won't let you play at all since it doesn't know if you payed or not since it can't check the website for your account. You are able to play offline of you have logged in and chose the launcher to remember you since if you have logged in successfully once before, then you must have payed, so it let's you play offline.

Just nostalgia. You find this anywhere anything goes through changes. Think nothing of it.

The Login allows the launcher you to hook up to the Internet so the game can retrieve your skin, allow you to play on servers, and verify that you are an actual customer. This wouldn't be a problem if you actually bought Minecraft.

No. That's not the reason. The new launcher is requiring me to login. I've played offline for about 18 months, but now I have to login. Unacceptable.

It is entirely acceptable since this prevents pirated copies of Minecraft from being used. This is well withing Mojang's rights to do so seeing as this is their product and you are expected to pay in order to play it.

I'd be fine with it if it wasn't for that fact that I almost went through an entire iron sword just standing at my door killing zombies because a mob of them was knocking on it.

Apparently there's a problem with laptops and the launcher. The new launcher drops some user's frame-rate (including myself) from 50+ to unplayable.

I play Minecraft on a laptop and have encountered no problems. The only reason I can think of that actually has some merit to it, even if it is just a little, is that it takes longer for the launcher to start up. I personally like the new launcher and it's option to switch game version!
