How exactly would the novel start? The game has no fixed plot. Explaining the game's physics at the beginning would bore people to death.
3) What genre would you want it to be?
Assuming that I want to read a novel based on minecraft, I'd have to go with action/adventure. Just because.
4) Any suggestions?
Don't do it.
EDIT: It's good for a creative writing assignment for your English teacher (if you're still in school, that is) but I don't think that I would be interested.
You should make a lighthouse with a lava globe on top. That should take around 12 stacks of glass (for a big one).
Also, one stack of glass only cover 8x8(=64) blocks. Assuming that you only use the glass for the roof, it's still kinda small for a farm but that's just my opinion.
EDIT: By big I mean somewhere around r=16 (where r is the radius).
