Every time I do what is said to do for the way to play 1.8 it just forces update and doesn't let me play 1.8. I took the old .jar file and put it into another folder on my desktop then I put in the new(1.8) .jar file and but it in the bin folder for Minecraft.I even tried this a 2 different computers with no mods nothing in the computer fresh minecraft and it still doesn't work. Are the locking down the pre release .jar do you think? If anyone has experienced this and found a way to fix this I would very much appreciate it.
the .jar file you delete is the one that says minecraft.jar just like the one you download, you're not trying to overwrite the one with the version number are you?
otherwise I did a force update before playing, popped it in, and no problems at all
i did not replace it i deleted it and i tried the force update before putting it in anddd i tried that zip thing where you press install and it pops a DOS screen and instals it
I keep trying to put the 1.8 .jar in replace of the old 1.7 .jar in the bin folder but everytime I do minecraft updates and wont read the 1.8 .jar can some one please help me?
