In case nobody else has posted it before, I can't seem to get the projector to work. I've checked the wiki and seem to be doing everything needed (and yes, it is being powered), so I'm a bit lost. I tried putting a clock in, removing all non Reika or Chickenbones mods, etc., and it seems to be failing still. Image below:
Anyway, the Silmarillion never specifies animals, just mentioning that all animals were in Valinor and the most were in Middle Earth. Unless, of course, you consider dragons, trolls, and orcs animals, in which case they are exclusive to Middle-Earth. So my point is not invalid, because the assumption is made that Arda's animals are Earth's animals, with some neat additions like Ents...and Orcs.
Orcs as animals? Now that's just plain rude.
EDIT: And I believe Ents were even given the secret fire.
Yeah, but that speculation is plain wrong. The Silmarillion specifically states that there can be no return to Cuivienen. As in, directly states, possibly in that same phrase I just used. The Sil. states that the lands have changed, implying that there no longer is a lake called Cuivienen anywhere in the circles of the world, and that nobody will ever find its remnants, possibly because it has been entirely destroyed.
Anyway, Dark Elves are any Elves that never travelled to Valinor. As in, the Wood Elves and the Galadhrim, save Galadriel and Celeborn, I believe.. Also called the Moriquendi, which means Dark Elves. There are Calaquendi or Light Elves, i.e. Noldor, those who went all the way to Valinor, and the Grey Elves, the Telveri, the people of the ships. They stopped at some island somewhere, I believe. They are called Grey because, even though they never actually reached the Trees, they did reach Valinor. The Dark Elves are those that turned aside from the path to Valinor-again, the Wood Elves, the Elves that dwell near the Red Mountains, and the original Elvish inhabitants of Beleriand.
So, Cuivienen has nothing to do with the Dark Elves, save that it is the birthplace of all Elves. It is not a necessary part of the mod, it is also not canon.
Anyone else feel that I spent a lot of time spelling out stuff that very few people are going to read? And that I wasted a lot of time to do that?
Mayhaps for most of the Elvish, this would be true. And remember the Biblical nature of the Silmarillion means that much and more could be metaphor. Despite that all, it is a theory supported by Christopher himself.
This is true, but it is complicated by the fact that the elf Eol is specifically called a Dark Elf. Even better yet, Middle Earth canon is murky at best. At some points, he is Avari and Sindar. In others, he is purely Avari. This has lead to fanon (and, in many cases, fanon is the best we have - nearly all of the stuff east of the Sea of Rhun and south of Near Harad, as well as some of the northernmost areas, were basically pulled out of thin air, making them even less credible) speculation that the Avari are special Dark Elves - they didn't move an inch west besides. Certainly, they are most likely to be under the influence of Melkor and are the least wise. This is the most flavorful thing he could add to them, as they do need flavor.
Dang it. But maybe not just cuivienen, but the dark elves. I mean, it would be cool if the dark elves in that area had begun to have children with the men of old, and now they are only halfelves there, next to the red mountains. I dont know, but something like that would be cool. Maybe a huge quest in that area,there you also meet the dwarves of the red mountains and the blue wizards. And maybe some ruins from cuivienen, i dont know.
Plans are made for dwarves of the red mountain - as for the wizards, NEVER ask for them. Ever.
No, it mentions in the Silmarillion that the lands have changed, and that there can be no return to Cuivienen. It mentions that specifically.
So, sorry. It was a good idea, though.
It is widely speculated that the sea of Rhun is a drained version of Cuivienen - thus, the forest near it is where the dark elves will be. (and this is planned, I believe)

Well, I messed around a bit and got it to work. It seems that projectors really quite dislike concrete.

In case nobody else has posted it before, I can't seem to get the projector to work. I've checked the wiki and seem to be doing everything needed (and yes, it is being powered), so I'm a bit lost. I tried putting a clock in, removing all non Reika or Chickenbones mods, etc., and it seems to be failing still. Image below:

Mayhaps for most of the Elvish, this would be true. And remember the Biblical nature of the Silmarillion means that much and more could be metaphor. Despite that all, it is a theory supported by Christopher himself.
This is true, but it is complicated by the fact that the elf Eol is specifically called a Dark Elf. Even better yet, Middle Earth canon is murky at best. At some points, he is Avari and Sindar. In others, he is purely Avari. This has lead to fanon (and, in many cases, fanon is the best we have - nearly all of the stuff east of the Sea of Rhun and south of Near Harad, as well as some of the northernmost areas, were basically pulled out of thin air, making them even less credible) speculation that the Avari are special Dark Elves - they didn't move an inch west besides. Certainly, they are most likely to be under the influence of Melkor and are the least wise. This is the most flavorful thing he could add to them, as they do need flavor.

Plans are made for dwarves of the red mountain - as for the wizards, NEVER ask for them. Ever.
It is widely speculated that the sea of Rhun is a drained version of Cuivienen - thus, the forest near it is where the dark elves will be. (and this is planned, I believe)
