I had worse connection with my pci wireless adapter than I do with my current USB one, it's not just an end all solution to the problem.

I would try and borrow another usb one if you can from somebody you know, see if it's just your one or not. If it is your one then you can decide what to do from there.

Well, I know it's my usb adapter because none of the computer in my house had this problem except the one I built. The macbooks and imacs we use are fine, as well as my sister windows laptop. I believe it is my usb, but is there any way I can improve it right now and spend cash later?

I've recently built a new gaming computer, but forgot a wireless adapter, because I completely neglected it. I bought a usb wireless adapter (which I now regret) and had to buy a usb extension cord too after 2 weeks of using it to improve connection. My packetloss is 2% according to pingtest.net and gives me a "C" as a grade. In online games that are fast paced (starconflict, tf2, etc.) I stutter around a lot and everything stops moving every 10 seconds. This is basically unplayable for me, and I want to know if there is any way to improve it.

This is my wireless adapter: http://www.netgear.com/home/products/wireless-adapters/work-and-play/WNA3100M.aspx

I am also looking for a good wireless card to go on my mobo instead of using this crap usb.

    Thanks for the reply!

Yes if the 24 pin cable is in the 20+4 pin style (which yours is) it can be used in either a 20 pin or 24 pin motherboard

Though anything with a 20 pin is very old at this point so I dont understand why they bother with the 20+4 pin style cables anymore, its kind of like floppy connectors and all those 4 pins very few people need nearly as many 4 pin molex chains as are being provided on many PSUs today and even fewer need floppy cables so why bother with them?

true, but it takes time to get rid of old technology- especially with computers since they, and their parts last a long time before replacing, since you can just buy another part as oppose to buying a new computer.

also one more quick question: the 20-pin isn't going all the way in to where i hear a snap (it is pretty close to going all the way in.) of the cable locking on the mobo. i am bending the mobo trying to push it in all the way. can i just use brute force and shove it in until it fits, or can i just leave it like it is. (pretty solid, but not all the way in) will the computer function leaving it a little out? can i snap the mobo and break it?

I have a 20 pin psu, with an extra 4 pin connector for 24 pin mobos. My motherboard is only 20 pins. can I just use the 20 pins and leave the 4 pin dangling in my computer case?

It's a Molex passthrough. You can plug the PSU into the female Molex on the fan cable, then plug the male Molex on your fan into another female Molex to daisy-chain them.

However, you can't control the fan speed of these fans.

ok cool. i only have one fan though. thanks for the reply!

ok, what about my 120mm LED fan? This one has 2, 4 fatter prong cables. One of them is female, and the other is male. I have never seen a fan like this before. I can only plug one in though to the other cables on my PSU. is that fine too?

I want to know, because I bought a second fan, and connected it to a labeling called SYS_FAN and it has 4 prongs, while the fan has 3 prongs. it still fits on it though. What about for main parts, and other wires?

    Do NOT use that PSU.

Again while I lack a model number I cannot be 100% accurate, but the fact that it was included with a $39 case and is likely manufactured by Young year tells me you would be better off using a brick as a PSU

You can expect perhaps a maximum of 200w from it and some further research suggests a 12v rail capacity of 16A (take this with a grain of salt I dont have anything concrete just some peoples speculation but it probably isnt far from the truth)

if it has working OCP it will not allow your PC to power on if not it will either die and take everything else with it, die and leave the rest of your components unharmed or explode and catch fire

the model number is PS480D. sorry about overlooking that part.

I just need to know will my computer turn on, or will it fry? Can I still play games on it without the PSU dying while waiting for a new PSU? The wait will be 2 weeks at the most.
