What this mod does:
Take your standard compass into your hand and USE it to swap between Settings. Each setting can feature different needles, pointing at awesome things like diamonds, Strongholds, the nearest Mob Spawner ...
If the server you are on has it enabled, it might be an Item you have to craft first. The recipe is a compass in middle, with diamonds at the sides (left, right, top, bottom).

That was during development. Game is released. The people who bought Minecraft after release, for full price are supposed to not get attached to their worlds? Are they supposed to say, "oh whoops I just bought a released game maybe I should hold off on touching it for another half year to a year because it might work right then."

Would you say your dilemma with gravel is a real problem, or a problem you personally have with it?
Or even better yet. Should the rest of the paying Minecraft community be denied less bugs, mod support, better pathfinding for other entities, more balance, built in anti-spam, etc.? I'm just trying to understand what the real issue here is. It seems to me like you have a lot of passion for something that is not game-breaking to be treated as if it is?
Cool. Maybe I like circles instead of blocks, so Jeb should make Minecraft circular. Nah, rectangles look better.
My point here is you come off as if you are speaking for the playerbase when you are speaking for yourself.

Dude... 1.0 is 1.7.3 yet more full with content. The game feels NO different now, than it ever has. As a matter of fact they even added creative in AND hardcore mode for good measure. Minecraft Creative - Minecraft Survival. Both are Minecraft, both are fun. I would honestly have moved on to another game if they had not added more content. I personally do NOT build with legos anymore. I like to pvp, raid, etc. I don't want a pretty princess town, I want to own. I want to compete, and mostly I want your tools and armor. I want all your cobblestone and other items too, even though I won't need them, I like to have them all.
Different game modes, different people, same ******** logic. Minecraft IS and always WILL be MINECRAFT. I don't care if they add every single feature from Grand Theft Auto, it's still Minecraft. I mine, and I craft.

Listen man. Criticize the game. I do that a lot as well feel free to read my content. However, you keep posting trash about how you are making a game, and blah blah. Everywhere. Stop posting on the forum and get working on your game. You had the time to make a wiki for ONE page with an egotistical auto-biographical wannabe top developer bullcrap style. I see NO game yet. I see NO code yet. Minecraft was put together (badly, however put together) in 48 hours.
The banner in your signature is... I mean come on. The graphics in minecraft alone force half of us to go out of our way to lag our computers just so that things look smooth. All I see is a pick-axe and sword that looks like it was drawn by a child, a sword, and a weird name that is basically a mashup of Minecraft and Terraria. Nimesia.
It's just complete troll. Until you have a playable demo you have no game. There are hundreds of people on every game forum who state they are working on a game that will be 100 times better, and it's the game the real developers "meant to make" but somehow some random guy got into their minds and figured it out, and already built it so now they don't want to copy it. I will check that wiki everyday. If in 10 more days there is zero news on anything about Nimesia it is a bust. Does, not, exist. I cannot, and have not witnessed anything even remotely interesting in any of your advertising of your game. Create the game first, then advertise and make a self reflection wiki if it makes you feel better. Until then, stop increasing your postcount simply stating that (this idea should exist, doesn't exist, so I'm making it in my game). You have no game.
Ok, on topic. I agree very much with the OP. More trees, more variety, yes. Very, very good post. Unlike 80 percent of each page this post did not require Mojang to change/remove/redesign the game, but add new content that would fit the existing themes rather nicely. +1.

What about combat logging? You know just for example if there is mcmmo and you do serrated strikes, they log out, back in immediately and aren't being hurt by it anymore. Light them on fire, they log out until you get tired of waiting and then they come back on and /home quick. Doesn't matter if you make a lava pit - /home quick to live...
What about hacked clients with abilities for example forcefield, aimbot, remoteview, coords username, criticals. Does no one on these forums care about the actual problems? Or is everyone too busy making new complaint threads about game features just for the "Lulz". I wish these kids would stop spamming such stuff, especially when they haven't actually encountered a problem with the feature they are bashing. Gah...

Okay, it seems like you are just a troll. In the past 3 months this is what has happened in a nutshell. Major overhaul of the lighting system. Lighting system in 3D versus 2D... Yeah. The animal spawning system, you know, the one that has to look through each chunk in a 17x17 (chunk area) around YOU to count mobs, run chances, etc. Yeah that whole system was redone for animals, breeding added and balanced through this. Hostile mobs have better pathfinding, they have to navigate a 3D environment, not left and right as in 2D. All kinds of new blocks added. Abandoned Mineshafts, Strongholds, NetherStrongholds, Ravines. The games terrain generation was completely revamped. Once again a 3D game's terrain generation as compared to 2D. They added support for HD texture packs, once again, 3D compared to 2D. They added an experience system, a potion/brewing system, and enchanting system all at the same time, WHILE nerfing/buffing things for the balance needs.
Many people can have fully automated farms, mobtraps, etc. On a single server all running at once, do you know how much work it probably took Mojang to make that possible?
Minecraft is not an RPG, it's not a wannabe RPG. It's Minecraft. Terarria developers even stated that their game is part of the Minecraft Genre, a genre Minecraft PERFECTED. Maybe if you read GameInformer you'd realize that the developers of Terarria respect Mojang a lot. I am sorry to say but I have NOT played a 2 dimensional game since game systems and computers could handle 3d ones. That is lazy. It is completely lazy. Terarria has a LONG way to go if it wants to be comparable to Minecraft. We don't need health numbers, and we don't need enemy hit points showing. We don't need to fight huge bosses right outside out 2D houses, we survive, and we thrive. This isn't 2D buddy. Heck if you'd like we can all draw some stick figures, get some ideas for a game and boom, Terarria.
See? Do you see the content of my post? I can post immature hate responses about another game without giving any credit to what the game itself actually is. Do you like this kind of post? If not, then learn to post like an adult. Give reasons why you like/dislike either game better, and move along. After work I'll post a comprehensive list of why Terarria is not appealing to myself. Thank you.

B. Who CARES about te Mojang/Bethsoft lawsuit? I don't. The only thing I'd care about is if Mojang's easily avoidable mistake would cost them millions and cost US in the end. Yeah, Bethsoft is an A hole for going crazy over the name scrolls, BUT, you KNOW how the world works.
C. Their modding support is not as bad as you, and a few "recognized" modders have gone around talking down about. There are many "recognized" modders who are perfectly fine with how Curse index's the mods and supports them. First off if you go to the modding section, what do you mostly see? You usually see mods from "recognized" modders that make great ones, right on the front page. It's not impossible.
D. Of COURSE Curse will compete with rival sites. That shows that they WANT to stick around and keep on top of the game. For US that means Minecraft forum is going to be doing well too.
In summation. Site staff on here seem to be down to Earth which is good. Trolling them because of your own personal gripes is rude. Just remember, no website is obligated to provide you their services. They COULD, if they wanted, ban anyone and everyone who talks trash on them. They don't.
/ontopic Great post OP will definitely keep an eye on the Skyrim modding section. The Elder Scrolls games have a dedicated following of modders/modusers and the content they create is amazing.

Even with all of these features the game is still a sandbox. They are simply adding new features, which do not hinder your creativity one bit. Even better yet if creativity is the only thing you are interested in, I'll let you in on a secret :biggrin.gif:. You can convert your survival world to creative or just pick creative when making a new world. Mobtraps are creative and now I have even more fun making the mobtrap since I can incorporate switches and re-routing to either choose if I want to physically grind the mobs for the exp and items or just let them run the course through the lava blade.
The EXP = awesome efficiency enchantments which make branch mining even more rewarding. I go to heaven and get kicked out, sent back down to Earth each time I get an unbreaking + efficiency enchantment. Potions of strength make me pwn mobs like we were able to before the nerfage, albeit give you something else to do to be able to own mobs that easy.
Ravines = A dangerous but rewarding exploration. You can come out with mega resources and it's easy to find whole cave systems that open up into ravines. Find an abandoned mineshaft and you will most likely have a real full days worth of exploring to do in the mineshaft alone, not including the cave systems that run through it, the multiple chests that might contain a couple diamonds or melon seeds which will net you infinite food source. Getting the seeds gives you a good deal of stuff to do if you want to stockpile food real fast by making epic auto-melon farms. You can swim in the amount of melon slices you'll stock up after that.
Breeding = a reason to actually use wheatfarms. Make a huge wheat farm, you still have to plant the seeds but boom a huge farm that harvests several stacks each time? You'll be bathing in the soup that is made up of animals you have to do with what you will.
Mushroom biome and Mooshrooms? Can anyone not instantly know how epic that is? Infinite mushroom soup = enough that you'll spend time cutting trees down just so you can try to figure out if the cow will die of starvation before you get tired of milking mushroom stew from it (which sounds painful...).
Boss battles? Gives a reason to get enderpearls and not waste them on simple quick teleports. A reason to explor the strongholds, and a reason to save up some NOTCHLY enchanted armor and weps so that when the end dimension is finished you will be ready to go in there and teach the enderdragon who's boss and grief that dimension until it doesn't exist as payback for how much enderman griefed your house in 1.8.
You kill the boss, gain MASSIVE levels, and go back to the normal world. Either that or it kills you, and you lose all your exp and notchly gear and vow to go back and show the enderdragon you just didn't stretch before the last tangle.
In summation, the real question is who doesn't want new features? Keeps the game from getting stale and quite honestly I don't know of any triple A blockbuster games that keep giving you features they spend development time and costs on when you paid a flat rate for the game. They all make you pay for the added features and usually they aren't optional especially if it is competitive.
