posted a message on Mojang, remove the Minecraft 1.0.0 nerf!
Armor is a lot better than it used to be. It takes quite a bit to take someone with full diam armor down however if they run below full hunger, etc. They will start to die easily. It really is not hard to take down someone with the armor. Make yourself efficienct XP grinders which take a good hour or so and grind levels for hours. If you don't want to put that much time into competing with someone else than go back to survival, or any Non-pvp environment. The pvp in minecraft is at least a little fun now, however still completely dumb without mcmmo or SOME type of plugin. It is bland as ****, same as the potions. A little bit of lag and you can throw splash instant harms all day and miss everytime. Hackers are able to utilize a lot of functions that bukkit and nocheat Have to try to keep up with patch-wise. I honestly think an internal anti-hack feature, modding support, and fixing the crashing and bugs everyone gets as well as even MORE performance optimization, are all MORE IMPORTANT.

So when everyone feels like giving them some time to work on **** that will add a lot of real balance to the game, so you aren't being critical'ed everytime and thrown around by some dude with iron stuff, etc. When all of the important stuff finishes please continue ranting about how hard 1.0 is for you to cope with. Most of us will be playing the game. Oh, I almost forgot, they also need to add a monthly subscription fee as well. There we go, that balances the online play too right? I mean seeing as how I donate to every server I spend more than a week on and most other people don't, yet they have all day everyday to play the game and spam levels. I don't think any of that is balanced. Then, if the server owners run into money trouble ever, and it goes down, I'm the only one who supported it, while everyone else took a free ride right?

Would you disagree with having to support servers with a fee to play on them? Or is real life balance not as important as silly game crap? K, cool.

Are you aware of how mind-numbingly processor-intensive that would make this game?

Yeah, because its made with JAVA... Wouldn't be a bad idea for the xbox team to just completely rebuild minecraft in c++. At least then it would be ok to pretend performance issues are the reasons for certain issues... Java is horribly cpu intensive, and to be completely honest the WORSt language for a video game as expansive as this one. There's absolutely no reason that this game should clock a good deal of the same ram as Elder Scrolls.

I love this game, but I would seriously pay full 60 dollar game price on top of the 15 I paid already if they would rewrite it with a better, smoother language...

Ok fire enchants are the problem?

What about combat logging? You know just for example if there is mcmmo and you do serrated strikes, they log out, back in immediately and aren't being hurt by it anymore. Light them on fire, they log out until you get tired of waiting and then they come back on and /home quick. Doesn't matter if you make a lava pit - /home quick to live...

What about hacked clients with abilities for example forcefield, aimbot, remoteview, coords username, criticals. Does no one on these forums care about the actual problems? Or is everyone too busy making new complaint threads about game features just for the "Lulz". I wish these kids would stop spamming such stuff, especially when they haven't actually encountered a problem with the feature they are bashing. Gah...

posted a message on Minecraft Alpha 1.2.6 vs Minecraft 1.0.0
    Quote from manu3733

I miss Alpha because the game was simpler. Even though I play complex games like Skyrim, I liked playing a small little blocky game where I could just mess around. Now to survive you have to make either a fruit farm or an animal farm because of hunger. If you don't make farms then you will die because now animals can go extinct and are rarer at the start too. Worrying about hunger gives you less time to build, explore and mine. I also hate the new terrain.

-.- Play on peaceful then, because you sound like having to fight mobs would take away precious time too. Or play creative. You have many options, so many, many options to make the game how you want it. Hunger makes sense, adds something else to manage. No offense but there is only so many times I can start a new map, pretend it's so hard to get to diamonds, then get them and boom game over. Even with diamonds now there is still stuff to do, and getting to those diamonds means you need to take some food with you. Takes all of 10 minutes from starting a new game to have a nice size wheat farm. Make a branch mine, make stairs down to it, or make a minecart system. Seeing as how the game is about mining, I can't understand why so few people use minecarts and minecart chests to speed up mining. Mine an inventory full, dump it, send it back to base, keep mining.

Minecraft was way too easy. I had to force myself to get mods to have fun again and that didn't even last. My first map ever, I still have and undoubtedly played that for many months alone but... it gets stale. Once I get diamond I can go take a chance at the dragon, after spending quite a lil chunk of time stocking up on enderpearls, getting netherwart farms and stuff going, and make sure I have enough resources so that if I fail, I won't be out. I still have fun finding villages, even though they are kinda pointless, it's still exciting to find one when I'm just out and about exploring. Maybe I want to get a bunch of logs from the wheat farms, whatever it's just neat.

Abandoned mineshafts, dungeons, nether strongholds (FUUUU blazes), it's just awesome.

Yeah balance is something only true pvp anarchy servers can have when you think about it. Everyone has a starting point. From there you know if you want to have a base that doesn't get broken to pieces in a day, you gotta go far. Most people on pvp servs where grief is allowed for some reason think Factions protects them 100 percent. Then they whine and cry when their base is gone. SMP is it's own territory. If it is not an anti-grief server then you'd better build far away and underground near bedrock. It is your own stupidity after that if you cannot compete with the top players on armor, etc.

For example, me and a buddy right now have literally destroyed over 13 factions between Friday and Sunday. Two of us versus factions with large members who could've safe-proofed their base. Even with f map you can make yourself 90 percent safe. Learn to play the game, find the most worth-while exploits, and play it to win it. You do not need 10 people to be the best, you need 1 or 2 smart people who don't pretend it's a town building or castle building adventure. Pretty bases go down the easiest, and screenshots are all the better when you know someone spent 20 good man hours building a really good looking base that was able to be entered via a well placed tnt cannon. If you are playing any server that does NOT allow pvp/grief/etc. then there are no balance problems to worry about at ALL. I don't care if you can be the richest player on the server if it weren't for mobtraps giving players infinite source of items to sell.

Iconomy, Essentials eco, etc. None of that is vanilla anyway. So vanilla survival on this game allows for pvp. Once again I will reiterate. The smartest player wins. The player who can't think outside the box is the loser. No one wants to play a Minecraft pvp server for 2 months just so they can finally get enchanted armor and weapons. I sure as hell don't. I donate weekly / bi-weekly to help out servers I'm on. Once again I'll reiterate THIS point. UNFAIR is people playing on servers for free. Unfair is the amount of people who don't read the rules on the forum thread, the rules at spawn, OR even warp to rules. Why should staff and helpful players have to constantly answer questions that you LITERALLY SPAWN LOOKING AT. It's unfair. Not fair is the lack of any substantial anti-cheat program. Not fair is the amount of Admins who abuse Mcbans which otherwise would've been amazing.

Go look at CJB's mod pack. How many views does it have? How many downloads do you think? How many of those people are using xray on servers??? I love CJB's mods to death for singleplayer. Singleplayer doesn't provide me entertainment anymore as vanilla. However multiplayer is a thrill. Mods/cheats should not work on there. I don't care if Minecraft has to go Steam only. Jeb needs to get that modding api along with some anti-cheating program set in stone and done. A released game SHOULD HAVE THIS. We are not beta anymore. Any game that is worth it's money that provides multiplayer needs anti-cheat software. The fact that this game was released with dozens of possible mods/hacks out there that people do indeed use to wreck the fun on a lot of servers is just ridiculous.

No I will not pay for a future update that finishes or polishes the features that they haven't done yet. As far as I'm concerned Scrolls can go F itself hard because as a small INDIE company you need to finish the game that got you up there in the first place. There's no reason Notch should be spending valuable Minecraft time on another game until he implements or tells his team to implement the features and fix them.

Tired of the mediocrity and the ridiculous amount of whining from kids who play a multiplayer game without paying a subscription. A lot of multiplayer games are moving towards subscription based online play. Stop wasting so much time trying to force the way you want to play the game to be the only way. In the amount of time some of you have spent in this thread alone you could already have a working mobtrap and a massive base, etc. Learn how to branch mine, Read the wiki constantly to make sure you know everything you possibly can about the game you want to play. Read the changelogs, etc.

The guy who mentioned quake was correct. Quake, Warsow, etc. Those games are GREAT because the steep learning curve when it comes to strafing, rocket jumping, and learning how to do it fluid enough to be able to turn and shoot very vast while keeping your gained speed... it is ridiculous. However, once you put that time in you can start to whoop. Until that point you will most likely get pwned over and over. Even if you have pro aim and can camp like a boss, there are guys who can strafe so fast you won't even get a sight on them. Learn how to play to win.

Bukkit problem I'm pretty sure. A few servers I've seen have this problem, all running bukkit. If your server has a /plugin list you know why nether xp is acting up. Bukkit's taking a year and a half to get a stable version out... Not a problem if these dev builds weren't giving so many servers very frequent crashes and rollbacks...

    Quote from Sheltered

    Your arguments doesn't hold water.

In Minecraft there really isn't a clear difference between what's intended or not. I'm sure Notch has predicted more of our inventions than we realize, but that's beside the point. The real question is not wheter something is intended, but if something gives too much benefit. Is the benefit acceptible or not.

The booster cart glitch was deemed unacceptible, but they gave something in return when they removed it. The Water ladders themselfs where probably acceptable, but not the bug that enabled them. Harvesting of wheat with water is clearly acceptable. They even made it so wheat harvested that way would create seeds and not only wheat.

The controversy about Mob traps is related to the enchanting system. Belive it or not, even though it might have been just napkin math, Notch have a clear understanding of how much experience we should be able to gather, and that does not include mob grinders.

This discussion should not be about the mob grinders, but what they give us. Do they enable us to gather experience too fast? Should or shouldn't something be done about it? How and why.

It's the truth. Life is not balanced or fair, so video games need not be either. Simple as that. The exp gained from normal mobtraps is outweighed by the actual amount of work needed on SMP. SMP. Not SSP. Read again, SMP. The mob hitboxes (the place you have to hit them for it to register) have been bugged for a year now, that is NOT acceptable so... Infinite water isn't acceptable...

Autofarming is no more fair than automatic mob killing. We all have the choice to play how we like. Anything that can be done without mods is fair game. Simple as that. If you don't feel like making a mobtrap you are a "nub". Balance = fairness. Fairness would require other mechanics in a similar setting to be removed as well. Automobgrinders, autofarms would need to both go. Or else it's not fair. Maybe I don't want to make autofarms? Why should people be able to stockpile so much food automatically that they don't even need to "survive"???

So just because Notch or Jeb say they want X doesn't make it balanced. So stop whining about balance, because if you have the option to do something as well there is no unbalance.

I agree. its ****ing retarded how badly unbalanced this **** is.. Mojang Jeb/Notch are taking the **** (and Notch is a real tight ass).. they do countless stupid pre releases updates, clearly only take feedback from fantards while ignoring the problems they are creating.

XP and the enchantment system is completely half baked... the time it takes to grind XP on smp servers legitimately is stupid, not to mention its damn easy to lose it. Hardly much point in it, as someone already said 0-25 is fine, 25-50 is where it gets pointless and really only an attainable area for exploiters and admins to get.

Lets not even get into the server bugs that completely ruin it.

It's not unbalanced at all tbh. Everyone has the same chances at said level to get x enchantments. The fact that you can not pick which you get balances it. Making mobtraps legitimately is not exploiting, the game was designed specifically for us to be able to alter the environment. So anything we can do inside the game without using an outside program or modifying/adding sources, is legitimate. Redstone clocks aren't specifically intended. Torches were specifically made to burn out for that reason, so using base defenses that can spam arrows/projectiles faster than flipping the switch back and forth is exploiting.

Making an overhang to keep your buildings spider-proof is an exploit. Spiders were given the ability to climb to make you have to face them, so taking advantage of their path mechanics is the same as taking advantage of mob spawning/pathfinding mechanics. There is no valid debate in this thread anymore.

Mob spawner is an intended part of the game, they are meant to be able to spawn infinitely. On SMP the only spawners you want to find to exploit are zombie or spider ones. Zombie's have high health so it's not as efficient. Spiders glitch up to the roof and hitboxes are still bugged to this day, a year later? Skeletons don't actually use the bow... that is an exploit and unbalanced. They can shoot pretty far without having to slow down and go through the charging animation, etc. This game does not need balance. It needs innovators. People who seriously build a house, and go out and fight mobs every day of the week are not pushing the game to it's full potential. LEARN how to become a beast, that is the point of the game. You can only survive for so long before it becomes pointless. Eventually you become advanced and at that point it's time to start thriving.

If this game is ever completely balanced even YOU will get bored of it. They might at well make a version of Minecraft that is on rails. Would you still love this game if it was on rails?...

When i come on a forum the biggest thest i want to read is the one on the main post, theres always a way to make the long story short without losing the principal concepts.

Yeah but even if the pigmen look harmless, when they croud u they are b****. Slimes are less agresive and the enviorment where they live is safer, and more if you control it (aka spawn chunk room/s). Its just a matter of taste =P

Rude is upping your post count with "lol wall of text". It added nothing further of substance than your first post. I will not make my posts short, because without providing every detail I believe backs up my claim it is far too easy for someone to go "Well what about this".

Trizzet honestly doesn't make mobtraps apparently, because he thinks they are OP, when Notch nerfed the crap out of them for 1.9. It is much faster making a mobtrap from mobspawner now, instead of large spawn room with waterchannels. On smp you simply can not be efficient unless you can buy arrows for cheap from people. Using bows to kill the skeletons that come through the trap so you can be far enough away to not be seen will not provide you a positive net of arrows to resupply. Therefore much time is wasted when a creeper gets pushed in front of the skele's and they shoot them then BOOM. All the mobs trapped atm are gone. You essentially need enchanted armor, sword, and strength/instahealth pots or else efficiency is almost completely lost. Instant harming potions are failish as well. So...

He honestly needs to make a mobtrap and then tell us how OP it is. If he cannot make one that breaks the game for everyone on a server then his point is completely invalid. The definition of exploit is not a negative. We exploit game mechanics with most of the actions we do on the game.

    No, it is not.

    Unfinished and broken content, yay

Not the end of the world really... more gameplay has been added. On quite a few seeds I've come across the terrain gen actually looked smooth from one to the next. It's nice to stand in a Redwood forest on a knoll using a massive mountain in the distance as a marker. Following a riverbed that forks and deciding which way to go. Stumbling into a Mushroom biome after you've already given up on finding it, etc. It's fun, and you still haven't lost the ability to play like you could before.

However, it needs quite a bit of work. Enchant system is a little... Meh. Potions are very nice, just not many types yet, dropping all exp is annoying, and losing enchantments when you die is confusing. A level 50 enchanted item and when you die and go back to pick it up it is a regular tool again... Rewards for the new content just aren't enough yet I think. Still, Mineshafts are amazing and ravines are so cool. There is actually reason to explore now, you will find some ridiculously sweet terrain gens.

lol, I'm not complaining about anything. I'm arguing a position which is that mob grinders exploit game mechanics and end up giving players who use them an advantage over others who do not.

Yes, yes I can justify what I think is fine and what I think is an exploit. What are you going to do to stop me? Make another tl:dr post on how big your epeen is so I can snip it off and laugh some more?

Infinite lava and infinite water are completely irrelevant to this argument. Someone else in this thread agrees that the time put into building a mob grinder does not reduce the simple fact that player will gain an advantage by using it either over other players or by making the game easier to play.

Well then admit being biased. You personally like one style of play. You disagree with another and therefore it's wrong. It's not fact. You have a few days to prove to me that you can build an efficient mobtrap on SMP NOW that gives you a massive advantage over other players. No mobspawners, legitimate mobtrap. Have fun with that, because efficiency has been lost big time. I will not explain how bad Notch already nerfed legitimate mobtraps again. It gets old. Take a look at the reputation I got for my first post on here. I expected it to be the complete opposite. That speaks enough.

Life isn't balanced trizzet, and if you are an adult you should honestly be doing some reflection. Why do you absolutely need a video game to be forcibly fair? Can't deal with unfair life + unfair game? Nothing is fair in this world. Getting a party together on COD and camping all the spawnpoints puts the random people on the other team at a huge disadvantage. Guess what though, they CAN find a party of good players who can spawn camp good enough to keep the other team from getting anywhere. It is FINE. Nothing is wrong about it. The only bad thing about the community their is that 10 year old kids get so angry that they lost to the point where they try and send you death threats...

My point to you right now is get over it. You get ahead in life by exploiting things. That's how life works. You are either in it to win, or you go nowhere. I'm always in it to win. That's how I play, that's how I live. I KNOW it is going to be unfair for me 50 percent of the time just like it will be for someone else.

If you can't find a server that enforces the kind of play you like, then please, by all means, feel free to rent your own server. There are plugins that can disable pretty much anything you find so completely unbalanced. Which judging buy how anything that makes it harder for you to keep up with the competition you deem unbalanced... eh you might as well not start a server at all.
