Is this update out for the Android OS or are we gonna have to wait a while?
Well, I'm not sure. I'm using Kindle Fire, which is Android-based, and in the Kindle app store it says the Kindle version is now 0.9.0 but I can't get my version to update. :\
EDIT: I had to uninstall completely and re-instll and now it's updated on my Kindle. So if they have the update on Kindle I think it's most likely out for regular Android.
OK, I'm going to give this a spin. All I ask is for it to not glitch out like it was for me with the previous Kindle version...please.. -
Jun 17, 2014josseriot posted a message on EULA Revisited: an Updated Q&A From MojangPosted in: NewsQuote from GoldK
If it doesn't work then don't force it. Stop relying on minecraft to make money for you. Mojang made it clear that the only money you will be making is to maintain servers at most.
I find it very bizarre that people think they're entitled to pursue their get-rich-quick pipedreams with someone else's product.
I'm largely Ok with what Mojang is doing. I actually wish they buckled down harder. And I hate the capes thing. I really do. Besides my hatred of capes in general, I hate anything that's emblematic of butt-kissing the heirarchy, possesing rank over others or otherwise being in an "inner circle" in a community like this. But since I don't plan on doing anything that will involve me having to deal with any of these "I'm in with Mojang" bros I suppose I can just ignore it.
My concern is now they've done this whole "we're enforcing our EULA" song and dance, I completely expect Mojang to do favors and make exceptions for people they know and like, and that never ends will from the rest of us. I have the suspiciont hat this is how they got into this whole mess in the first place--they allowed some people they knew to get away with things and then everyone else thought they could do it too. Would explain why they were slow to enforce their own EULA.
And I don't know what to think of Notch's Twitter-angst, whether he's being ernest or what. I do think the rage against Mojang has been extreme and inappropriate, but if he's this soured on the Minecraft community, it can't be a good sign. -

Frankly, I wish they either remove them from the game entirely or give us the option to disable them. Jun 7, 2014josseriot posted a message on Minecraft Server Changes, EULA - A Brief LookI've been looking into this issue more deeply, as when I first got into MC, I don't remember donors and perks being a big thing like they are now. And I have to be very, very honest as an experienced gamer and a person with a lot of life experience with not nice people:Posted in: News
Many ofAll of these perk system on servers that I've looked into make me wildly uncomfortable, even ones that are being promoted by microcelebrity You Tubers that I otherwise like. I personally would not want to be on a server with one of these systems. In the very least, it's potentially game-breaking, this is, ruins the game for anyone else who isn't buying into the perk system, and encourages otherwise honest server owners to do some dumb things that are damaging to the community. In the worst, it's just a feast for scam artists and grifters to take advantage of dedicated fans, especially younger fans who by no fault of their own don't know better.
If I was in any way associated with Mojang, I would certainly feel the need to step in and draw some clear lines and work out something with server owners, to protect the product both legally and as a business venture. And that is ultimately in the best interest of the community as well. I don't think anyone either on the business end of MC or on the fandom end wants this community to become associated with rip offs and shady server perk systems. Anyone who's been a gamer for a while know how that can happen, and how it has happened with other games.
The truth is it's very hard to verify the trustworthiness of any server owner as it is now. Unless this person is a longtime buddy of yours and you can personally vouch for them, you really don't know that person or their motivations. If Mojang sets down some rules that server owners have to agree to, then at least we'll have a bar against which to measure them. And maybe this won't make everyone happy but personally, I don't want to start hearing stories of people donating and then logging on the next day to find the server down and the owner unreachable, and then a few months later a suspiciously similar new server and server owner opens up and starts asking for donation. Because if that's not already happening, it will. Human nature is very predictable like that. -
May 22, 2014josseriot posted a message on Snapshot 14w21b Ready for Testing - XBOne, PS News!$4.99 to upgrade your 360 version to Xbox One seem quite reasonable to me, but unfortunately since I have no interest in any other games currently available (or soon to be) for Xbone, it doesn't exactly offset the expense of buying a whole new console. If Microsoft decides it really wants to appeal to today's diverse gaming community it claims Xbone was designed for (like understand that we female geeks and gamers aren't going to buy an Xbone just to oogle at Zachary Quinto) and start delivering a game selection that doesn't give me bummer flashbacks of the junk-alicious gaming market circa 1999 , then maybe I'll consider getting one. Until then, I'll just save my pennies for a new gaming laptop and continue regretting wasting my $ on MC for 360.Posted in: News
(And before someone starts hyperventilating: yes, I haven't forgotten there was good game releases circa 1999--but many gamers old enough to remember have just forgotten about all the many, many terrible ones.) -

Because that's just what Minecraft needs: more caves. *groan* That was one of the nice things about mesas--no ugly gaping holes pockmarking an otherwise lovely landscape. Thank the cosmos for landscaping tools. -
Apr 23, 2014josseriot posted a message on Wednesday With Sach: What Is Minecraft, and What About..."What is Minecraft to you? What do you do in it? What are some of the best parts of it, or parts you think could be different?"Posted in: News
Well, it's a sandbox game, and that's mainly what attracted me to it. Best part: that I'm not bound too much by someone else's idea of how to play the game (although the elements that involve hostile mobs, and items that you need to get from hostile mobs, does bind me to combat gameplay which I don't like, unless I stay in Creative). Parts that I wish were different: as a long-time RPGer, I kind of find the environment a tad sterile and lonely for any kind of RPing unless you have some cool ppl to do multiplayer with, which I don't. I wish the villagers could be more interactive at least. More elements that to help personalize one's world could help make the game more fun for singleplayer RPing, like more tamable mobs, or more diversity of current tameable mobs and new behaviors, more biome diversity, more building resource diveristy (bear in mind I'm a Xbox player so I can't mod and don't have stuff like horses, new flowers or trees, stained glass/clay--those would go a long way, I think).
"How would you feel about interviews with notable community members?"
I like this idea a lot. It's always interesting to see what other people are doing, especially in a community which such diversity of interests and ideas. - To post a comment, please login.

So frustrating. 4J needs to end their vacation and get to work fixing what they broke.

Same here. I actuallys stopped playing MC on my 360 and switched to PC becuase it looked like 4J was never going get around to adding horses. And even though horse breeding on PC is all broken and Mojang will likely never fix it, at least the horses you had didn't disappear. And I really like horses--they really add a lot to the game for me.
Since my PC is broken, I decided to go back to MC on my 360 when I heard they added more redstone and horses. But, it turns out, there are serious problems with both. I'm really bummed.
But on the bright side, bats appears to be working just fine.

Or I go the pickaxe-then-enchanting table route.

I wish I had read that before now. I was taming horses in the area around my starter base where there was a lot of horses from the beginning, I tamed 10 of them, penned them each in a 5x5 fence-and-gate pens and all despawned as soon as I ventured far enough for them to be out of sight. Now the rest of the untamed horses have disapppeared and no new horses are spawning in that area. It's like the game thinks the tamed horses are still there or something.

While I am admitted peaceful mode junkie (some days you just want to fiddle with your blocks without being shot in the butt by a skeleton, y'know?), but I think for a survival LP, it's not the best mode. You might as well do Creative, although if you were able to make the series interesting enough you probably could get away with playing in peaceful. Normal mode is fine--most SMPs are in normal, so I don't you have to go hardcore just because its single-player. I think hardcore is a good setting for very experienced LPers, but if you're new to recording your gameplay, it may not be the best choice. You may find yourself playing too safe so not to die and that might make it a little boring for viewers.
Personally I hate webcams in LPs. It can even be a turn-off to see the LPer's face there in the corner of the screen, especially if they're chugging soda or stuffing chips in their face. Like I want to see that. Some LPers are way too into their LP "personalities" and it's like "look at me look at me look at me!" while I'm trying to watch their game. I watch LPs nearly everyday as a way to relax, and at the moment I don't watch any LPer who uses a webcam. I just want to watch some Minecraft (or other game), not them. You don't need to worry about that right now--there are plenty of quality LPers who don't use a webcam. It's not a necessity.

If you are in 1.8 it is possibly a dupe. I recall an issue with mob duping with 1.8 although I don't recall it effecting horses. But if it's like the mob duping glitch I've come across in MCPE with tamed wolves, it won't despawn, so there you go. You have a second horse.
Myself, I haven't done much recently. I took a good break from MC and when I wanted to get back to it, my desktop decided to go on the blink. So lately I have been doing MCPE, which can get incredibly boring. I've been doing small builds because I can't be bothered to gather resources for larger ones--or the resources I want to use for larger builds are not avilable in large qualites in MCPE survival without a tons of hassle. I firgured out that MCPE is riddled with an bug that when it wants to spawn a hostile mob underground near you when you've lit up all teh underground spawnable area, it will simply spawn it above ground even in daylight or on slabs. Fun, huh? This has made building my little plains town interesting. I finally figured out to keep creepers and zombies from suddenly spawning right next me or on top of my buildings (and then falling on top of me) when I'm my town during the day I needed to build an underground area for these mobs to spawn--so I basically built the town a sewer system-like mob spawner area about 10 blocks down and left it unlit. I have to listen to zombies and spiders all the time but it's better than walking down the slab streets and having a zombie spawn right behind me. Most recently I have been mining a lot in an extreme hills base so I have quite a bit of emeralds, lapis and redstone which are basically useless in MCPE. I just wanted to see how much I could mine out of a certain area. I'm also both extremely adept at and extremely tired of killing silverfish now.
While I wait for money to come in to get a new PC, I am thinking to updating MC for Xbox 360, which I haven't touched in ages, and doing some redstoning. I miss my modded games though. That's really what I want to play but oh well.
0
And I need to make money to get a new PC. My desktop is out of operations due to a nasty firmware problem that basically makes it impossible to render graphics at all and will cost money to have repaired by a cerfitied such-and-such, and on top of that I want to get a dedicated gaming PC too. Enough of this poverty gaming. It stinks.

What are some good redstone projects that are doable in the current 360 version that would help me get better at redstoning? I can do simple redstone stuff so I'm looking for more complex stuff.
