I don't think that peacefull is cheating, but switching your difficulty when you are about to die is.
    (And I never use peacefull)

Iron is already super common. (And farmable with iron farms)
And gold should be rare (And it is also farmable with gold farms)

posted a message on The Nether Chest - An Item Teleportation Device
Support, would make nether worth exploring (Add an unigue and usefull item to nether fortresses)
Recipe would make this too OP (Unless it uses items that you can only get a limited amount from nether fortresses)

:/ Too dangerous. Isn't the nether dangerous enough?

    No Support
No, nether isnt dangerous, it is more safe than overworld at night (unless you go in a fortress.)
    The mobs are not dangerous:
Zombie pigman -just don't hit them
Ghast - They have terrible aim, low health and they are rare
Magma cube - very rare, not very strong

And lava and fire are easy to avoid too. (or you could just use a fire resistance potion...)

posted a message on A Few New Compasses and a Way to Combine Them

It's already challenging trying to find all those emeralds, make compasses, make blaze powder, and make eyes of ender. I don't think it's OP. Actually it's balanced out.

    Support.

None of those items is very hard to get...
    Emeralds:
Way 1: Find a village, trade
Difficulty: pretty easy, you can even trade rotten flesh to them
Way 2: Find a nether fortress, kill blazes, get netherwart, get 8 gold ingots and a apple, make potion, heal a villager, trade
Difficulty: Can be hard, but most players want potions anyway
Way 3: Find extreme hills, mine 8 emeralds
Difficulty: Depends on luck, can be very easy or very hard
    Way 4: Find a jungle/desert temple
Difficulty: Usually hard, but there are seeds that would allow you to get those items in 5 minutes

-too OP, emeralds are not hard to get.

Compasses: many players could obtain that amount in less than 30 minutes of mining/caving,

-Actually I think that this is too expensive, and I think that normal compasses should point at your spawn point, but iron and redstone are very cheap.

    Blaze powder:
You only have to find 1 nether fortress to get it, and after that there is nothing to explore for in the nether.

    Eyes of ender:
Only of those items that actullay isn't very easy to get, but I think that the currecent method of finding strongholds is more fun, also remember that there are 3 strongholds and finding them all almost always requires more than 8 eyes of ender.

And the suggestion guide says that "It can be rare" is bad excuse to make OP ideas "balanced"
(And so is "you don't have to use it if you don't want to")

    Is that good or bad?

Is killing them with a lava grinder + storing hundreds of them in 1x1x2 space good or bad?

posted a message on Do you think there are enough "tiers" of armor/tools?
    Quote from Ramirez77

We have too many tiers at the moment.
Gold is useless and wood just gets dumped right away.
Enchants also make tiers a bit pointless. Why acquire diamond if a protection enchant on iron will work as well?¨Because protection on diamond is even better and constantly repairing iron is anoying.

Not to mention some of the gaps are too small to fill. Going from 60% protection with iron armor to 80% with diamond isn't that much, a 70% protection armor would be pointless.

I wouldn't mind re-skins (example; quartz armor and iron armor being the same but looking different).

I also would like re-skins, but they could be slighly different (quarz would have 5% more speed/damage and 5-10% less durability than iron, some versions could also be easier to enchant)

posted a message on Do you think there are enough "tiers" of armor/tools?
I think that there are enough tiers, even if more were added, most people would still use the best (Unless it is like nether star tools that have 1 more durability than diamond)

Only extra tiers I would support would be weapons/tools that you could only get from loot chests (in dungeons/jungle temples...)
They would be little better than diamond gear and could be enchanted but you couldnt repair them (At least without some resource you only can get from loot chests)

These items would not be sold by villagers, that would be almost the same as if they were craftable from rotten flesh.

posted a message on Is Minecraft losing its inwardness?
I only started playing in 1.2.5 (not beta) but minecraft has become much easier even after that, espescialy enchanting is now much easier and more powerfull than in 1.2.5, updates have lowered enchant cost from 50 to 30, added anvills to repair enchanted gear (And combine enchanments, enchanted books to choose enchants, villagers that sell rare enchanted books for a cheap price and with 1.8 the very OP enchanment system that oly uses 3 levels for max enchant (And shows one of the enchanments) (Yes, I know they made levels more expensive, but not 10 times) (And lapiz is very common)

In 1.2.5 Protection 4 armor/other OP enchanted gear was something you almost never used because it had limited durability and was very hard to get. (It took hours even with a good grinder)
In 1.5 Op gear was something that you could use all the time without much work
In 1.8 OP gear will be even easier to get/repair.

In 1.5 they added hoppers, a way to fully automate production of good quality food (Chicken)
Before that the only way to automate food was a melon farm (And melons are really bad food)

posted a message on I stopped following Minecraft, and have not played it in about a year. What have I missed?
Enchanting is now very easy. (At least in the new snapshots)
Anvills allow repairing of tools/armor (and keeps the enchants)
    You can also enchant books.
    They also added fireworks.

posted a message on How to get redstone and other "unobtainable" items in Skyblock legitimently
    Quote from dinorhinotown3

You can also get steak and leather by getting animals to spawn on the grass. And as of 1.7 witches now spawn naturally.
And you can get a witch to throw a weakness potion at a zombie villager to cure it without blaze rods. (You still have to go to the nether to get gold for the apple)

posted a message on Is Mojang Doing This?
    Quote from Markan

Mojang likes to take some briliant ideas form the community and add it to the game (in their own way)

I think the first "mod" they added into the game was aaaages ago when it was still in beta i think.
Some guy made a mod that made the world generate different LOOKING trees.... cause back in the day all trees were the same hight, and the same shape and the same type.

So notch used that idea, and since then we have many different looking trees.

another "stolen" mod idea was the ender chest, the horse, as well as editable books

Theres nothing wrong with people adding mods to MOJANGS game, and theres nothing wrong with mojang adding peoples idea into their own game.

As for further mods that could be added to the vanilla mc, idk
I think that pistons were a mod too, and methods of moving items between chests (hoppers/droppers) were added by many different mods.

posted a message on Ender Farms broken?
My enderman farm uses pressure plates, but it has redstone to activate all the pistons (To automatically fix glitched blocks)
I think that I can remove the plates and connect the pistons to a clock.
