Sad to hear that the mod maybe died.. Is there a way to make the mod public that other guys can work further on it?
unfortunately i no longer have the authority or the ability to do that. Currently Frag2000 has the only dev versions of the mod that are even worth updating, and the mod's code is his intellectual property, so i would need his permission to share it with others or make it public.
Hmm but just login once a week or month to answere some questions just need 1 hour. It's not much and keep the interest from ppls up. But thanks for the information Muyskerm.
i do log on every so often to check and answer important questions. however i don't like giving update on how things are going when i dont have any good news.
most questions and crashes are no longer relevant since we've completely re-written the mod, and have fixed hundreds of issues, but Frag2000 does not want to release anything that isnt "perfect" even if it is 1000 times more stable etc than the current released version.
i havent heard from Frag2000 in months at this point, so you can assume the mod is dead for now, but will likely be revived someday.
Can we expect the next release or at least a beta build before June? I know you guys don't like to set anything in stone and have a lot on your plates, I'm just trying to figure out how to run updates for my server pack.
Currently we have absolutely no clue when we'll be ready for an update.
Since Frag2000 has taken lead of the project he doesn't want to have any more "beta" or "alpha" releases, and only wants to release updates with 100% completed, final version content. Which as stated previously also means anything and everything that wasn't final version will be temporarily removed.
Because he's decided to go this direction, and because of the complete re-writing of the code for the mobs the 1.4 alpha will not be entirely compatible with the next release. There shouldn't be any crashes, but lots of items will disappear and lots of mobs will despawn permanently
dammit.... i just spent 15 min typing out a post for you guys and then the tab closed for no reason an lost everything... oh well, looks like i'll start over...
long story short:
we're sorry its taking so long, and we're still working on things. lots of things keep getting in the way and we're over a year behind schedule in terms of when we thought we would have gotten released by now. checking the forums now has become a pain for us now since its a constant reminder of how far from our goals we are, and of the people we're disappointing.
yes.
although we cant give an accurate prediction of when we'll have an update ready, we can be pretty accurate as to when we will NOT have an update. we probably wont update anytime this month just fyi
I would say 1.8 would be a waste unless doing 1.8 then 1.9 would be easier than just straight to 1.9 since the community has basically said no to 1.8 for the most part and yes to 1.9 and 1.9 is out soon anyway if mojang follows their standard release pattern from the past few years. At any rate 1.5 looks sick so far
we might make a 1.8 version just for the sake of having a 1.8 version for people to play with their other mods, and if we can start working on 1.9 soon enough, i would doubt we'd spend time adding "new" features to the 1.8 version.
we may have only core features in a 1.8 version so as to not waste any extra time before focusing on 1.9
take that with a grain of salt though. these sorts of things heavily depend on where we are at in the development of features when a stable version of forge for 1.9 comes out
Not sure where it comes from ... the update of the previous week was Thursday (one day early), and with a movie as a bonus. We are holding few days on the last update since there are some important discussions going on and we want you guys to be informed. Stay tuned...
we are currently discussing the terms of me handing leadership of the mod's development to Frag2000.
"what does this mean for you guys?"
not much tbh, just that Frag2000 is making all the plans for the update schedule now, and decides which features to prioritize.
He's got some big plans for the mod's development which are best left to him to explain.
I have a sincere question. Will the invertebrates (Clam, Lobster, Crab, etc.) inside the mod have the same advanced A.I. as the fish, and If they don't, will you add that in 1.6 or 1.7...
The clams, lobsters, etc wouldn't need the same kind of pathfinding behaviors for one thing, so the AI the fish use wouldnt make sense being used by them. We wont be adding the fish AI to the non-fish mobs, but we might make a new, smarter AI for each one of those mobs individually depending on how important it is for them to have a complex AI behavior.
what need would the Clam have for a new AI? They just sit in one place and open and close for the most part
If we made it, we'll want to do it right. That mob by itself would be many months worth of work.
This is something I definitely want to attempt once we get more higher priority features done

TL;DR
my hands are tied

the fact that it was not is a bug that i think we have fixed in the latest dev version

well, that "nuf said" is related to things that had me face palming for months. which no longer have me feeling stupid.

Just to let everyone know, I am super excited right now because of things related to the mod.

only Frag2000 can answer that, and I'm finding it harder, and harder to get responses from him with his personal life getting more, and more busy.

there will be version for 1.8 eventually, unless all of us devs suddenly drop dead at once before we get around to making it.

yes.
Also we might even have 1.6v for 1.7.10 as well, but that really depends on too many variables to confirm that.
