    I just attempted my first go at creating an item. The game crashed when I tried to run it. Also, i'm getting errors that im not sure how to fix.

    For this one i've got errors on line 6 and 13.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    package com.github.joe13527.simpsons;

    import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.Mod;
    import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.event.FMLInitializationEvent;
    import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.event.FMLPostInitializationEvent;
    import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.event.FMLPreInitializationEvent;

    @Mod(modid = Reference.MODID, name = Reference.NAME, version = Reference.VERSION)
    public class Simpsons

    {

    @Mod.EventHandler
    public void preInit(FMLPreInitializationEvent event)

    {
    ModItems.Init();
    }

    @Mod.EventHandler
    public void Init(FMLInitializationEvent event)

    {

    }

    @Mod.EventHandler
    public void postInit(FMLPostInitializationEvent event)

    {

    }

    }

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    This next one, I didn't get any errors, but wanted to list it just in case.

    package com.github.joe13527.simpsons.help;

    public class Reference

    {
    public static final String MODID = "joe13527_Simpsons";
    public static final String NAME = "Simpsons";
    public static final String VERSION = "1.0.0.0";
    }

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    This one also doesn't have any errors.

    package com.github.joe13527.simpsons.init;

    import com.github.joe13527.simpsons.help.RegisterHelper;
    import com.github.joe13527.simpsons.items.SimpsonsItem;

    import net.minecraft.item.Item;

    public class ModItems
    {
    public static Item duffBeer = new SimpsonsItem().setUnlocalizedName("duffBeer");
    public static void init()
    {
    RegisterHelper.registerItem(duffBeer);

    }

    }

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I got an error on line 2, 9, and 15.

    package com.github.joe13527.simpsons.help;

    import cpw.mods.fml.common.registry.GameRegistry;
    import net.minecraft.block.Block;
    import net.minecraft.item.Item;

    public class RegisterHelper
    {
    public static void registerBlock(Block block)
    {
    GameRegistry.registerBlock(block, Reference.MODID + block.getUnlocalizedName().substring(5));

    }

    public static void registerItem(Item item)
    {
    GameRegistry.registerItem(item, Reference.MODID + item.getUnlocalizedName().substring(5));

    }
    }

    That's how packages work, so you are fine :)

    Yeah, you need JDK.

    Thanks!

    I had the same problem. I google JDK and it brought up the java page. Read the instructions on which one you should download for you OS, and do it. I redid that step and everything worked perfectly.

    It shouldn't go ahead and automatically import simply because there is another Java class file that has the name 'Reference', so when you go to import it, you will need to choose the right one.

    Have you created your Reference class though?

    Hmm, yea I created it. When you right click on the main package and add a new package, should it go into that first package, or into the src/main/java folder? It isn't letting me put it into the main package.

    HERE is everything I have typed into my class

    package com.github.joe13527.modname;

    import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.Mod;
    import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.event.FMLInitializationEvent;
    import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.event.FMLPostInitializationEvent;
    import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.event.FMLPreInitializationEvent;

    @Mod(modid = Reference.MODID, name = Reference.NAME, version = Reference.VERSION)
    public class modname

    {

    @Mod.EventHandler
    public void preInit(FMLPreInitializationEvent event)

    {

    }

    @Mod.EventHandler
    public void Init(FMLInitializationEvent event)

    {

    }

    @Mod.EventHandler
    public void postInit(FMLPostInitializationEvent event)

    {

    }

    I don't think this has been mentioned previously as a question but forgive me if it has been. I finished the setup tutorial perfectly and have moved onto the second. Everything has been going perfectly there so far, but the only thing I am seeing that isn't consistent with your instructions are the very last thing of that tutorial. Going to the main class and hovering over the "Reference" in the @Mod annotation. I've hovered over it, right clicked it, done pretty much everything I could think of to select it and haven't found an import button anywhere. If its not there does it need to be done? Or is this something that may have been done by itself depending on the version of software.

    Thanks for the help!

    You are going to need to install 'git'. Now, I'm not sure how that works for Windows, however, this article should walk you through it. If you have an issues with anything, let me know, and I may be able to help :).

    Alternatively, you don't need to use GitHub/Git, however, I recommend you do.

    Thanks a lot! I didn't realize there was something I should download other than just setting up the website! I'm sure I'll have some more questions for you in the near future so thanks for the help.

    Hey, so I am a complete beginner with the modding thing, and have been following your directions for the first tutorial. I am pretty sure I have followed everything perfectly, but the command prompt isn't allowing "git clone {yadayada}". It is telling me that its not recognized as a command or any other type of thing.

    Thanks!

    posted a message on Need help with my server connections.
    First off, I want to apologize in advance if my post is in the wrong section. Moderators, feel free to move it if needed. Second, I want to say hello, because this is my first official post on the forum.

    Now to what I am here for.

    A few days ago, I created my own bukkit server. The server works fine. I can download plugins and use them fine. I haven't run into any problems in game.

    I have two issues though. No one else can connect to it. The first issue is that no one else can connect over my same network connection. The second issue is that no one can connect outside of my network connection.

    I'll start with what I do know is wrong. I do know that I have not forwarded my ports correctly. I know this because I've tested them with different port checkers, and they have all come back negative.

    What I don't know is how to fix this. I've looked EVERYWHERE online for help, and tried so many different things, and none of them seem to be working.

    Over my own network, I have no idea what is wrong. I've found no indicators to give me any clues.

    I will go ahead and tell you as much as I can now, because I know I will be asked soon anyway.

    My router's firewall is currently disabled. My computer's firewall is currently disabled. AND I have allowed java to go through my computer's firewall. My plan is to fix these problems and then go back and enable the firewalls and figure out how to play with the firewalls on.

    As far as I know, I have done everything with port forwarding correctly, but obviously there has to be something else. I have the ports set to 25565. I have a static ip address that I have been using. I haven't changed it.

    My router is a Belkin F9K1102v1.

    I am sure that there are some important things that I have forgotten to mention, but I can't think of anything more right now.

    Thank you in advance!
