    Quote from stormywaters

Is it possible to change a player name? When I bought the game, I didn't know the account I was asked to create for the purchase would be my in-game name.

As far as I know, you cannot change your player name.

A bit desperate for subscribers I see. Don't want to earn them? :dry.gif:

Anyway, I haven't really seen a drop off, though I do play on a server that was started way back during Beta 1.2 or so.

Title says it all. Basicly whats happining is, even though I have posted over 35 posts, I don't have my title changed... why isn't this working? I should be at least "Tree Puncher" but I currently am not. Grrrr...

Mine changed to Carpenter after 45 posts. It's really not that big of a deal.

posted a message on PET CRAFT!!!
    Quote from _Crux_

I just had a huge idea. I was at the pet store when I was texted about minecraft. Then I thought to myself PETCRAFT. This is an idea for modders and I hope someone does it. Create a line of new mobs that would be pets. Like iguana's hamsters, fish, dogs, cats, turtles, snakes. All things will be able to fight for you but in different ways. This would be the twist. Cats would like turn invisible or something and dogs could turn metal. Play on pet's personality's. the one thing I really need to think is how you would obtain pets. It could be something really corny like a package falls from a balloon and then you right click a piece of paper or something like that which you had just obtained from the balloon and then you will have a random pet. Seems good enough right? Anyone? Ok this could be dumb as rocks and I respect you if you believe that but just please keep it to yourself.

Don't you think it's a tad too RPG like? Since fights only last a few moments, the "fighting" aspect seems somewhat useless. Perhaps another perk? Like maybe they would be able to scout out different resources.

posted a message on Is this too big for a quarry?
    Quote from petrus4

    I'd never strip mine, personally.

My method is to first make a 2 long x 1 wide shaft down to bedrock, and put a ladder against the back wall. (That is, the wall nearest to me) When I reach level 8, I put down two water source blocks, and dig out the last three blocks, in order to make a water drop zone. That way I only have to climb the ladder to get back up.

Then I climb back up to 10, and make a 2 wide by 2 long by 2 high alcove in the wall opposite the ladder, leave two blocks (so the next floor is 14) and do the same, and so on up to 64. Even if the shaft goes up past 64, I still don't make alcoves higher than that, because it's usually just dirt.

Then I go back down to 10, and keep digging out the alcove until it is 16 blocks long by 2 blocks wide by 2 blocks high. That is my trunk on that floor, for that chunk. Then, starting at the 16th block, at every third block in that 16 block passage, I make two branch passages, one on each side, 7 blocks long by 1 block wide by 2 blocks high.

    So...

That lets me exhaustively clean out every level, from sealevel to bedrock, of a single chunk, without strip mining; yet by making sure I check the walls, floors, and ceilings as I pass, I don't miss a single piece of ore. I'm also mining less than 50% of the stone in the given chunk (224 blocks, from memory, out of 512 seen in a 2 block high, 1 chunk space) while still seeing the same amount of surface as I would if I was strip mining.

Other people will tell you to stay on level 12 only; but personally I like to clean out the entire chunk. (Well, from 10 at least; lower is lava, which is annoying) Diamond *does* occur at both lower and higher levels (10-17) but in addition to that, there is often a lot of iron and coal between 20-50 or so as well, and I like getting all of it.

I'm currently doing that on my server at bedrock. Found a lot of diamonds and coal.

    posted a message on Giants?
    Quote from GunnerDude1

I was thinking, seeing notchs videos on youtube made be think that he made a Giant but never put it in the game (Without cheating), i would be good if he made them like spider jockeys (1% Chance of Spawning) and they could drop rare items.
Leave a comment and tell why you think they should (Or Should not) Have them in minecraft.
it would be more Rpg Like :Sheep:

I think it'd be cool to implement them. Maybe only in huge dungeons stocked full of diamond and gold. They'd be hell to kill.

    Quote from chuckchuckrazool

I play on my breaks at work and I just fell into lava with two full stacks of iron ore, a stack of 40 lapis lazuli, three full stacks of redstone like 6 stacks of coal and five diamonds. The only thing that wasn't burnt was 5 redstone a stack of dirt and an almost broken stone shovel... I was on my way to my storage chest which was just upstairs. I fell into literally the last exposed pool of lava before safety. People thought I had chopped my finger off from the yell I let out.

Haha! How'd you explain it to them? "Oh, I was just playing a game that consists of cubes!"

SMP is pretty much Minecraft, but with more people on one map. It's just as open as the single player game. The "Farmers" you talk about are probably just role playing servers.

    Quote from algebraicAT333

I am starting a quarry that's 47x30. I've only gotten a few layers deep. It takes me more than half an hour to clear one layer. Am I getting too ambitious with this quarry?

By the way, do you have an tips for me?

If it's just stone you're looking for, what you're doing is perfectly fine. However, if you're looking for minerals, you'll want to dig much farther down.

posted a message on Server Activity Logs?
    Quote from Poopfac

I'm an OP on a server and we just had a guy grief majorly. Basically I wanna know if the server keeps logs of block activity and if so if we could check to find the guy pouring lava. Any information would be glorious thank you!

If you're running vanilla, the logs will not show block placement.
